very overexcited gold medal winner

How nice to have someone so totally overwhelmed with delight :)

Yes I was really pleased for that young lad from Grenada.

It is always lovely when a small country gets a medal. That lad from the Dominican Republic got gold - his country has just two medals these olympics. It must be such a huge deal for them.

It doesn't come across clearly here, but the stadium was on its feet and really really cheered this chap as he cried his eyes out. It was so lovelt to watch live.

He looked too cool for school when he was running - glasses on an everything, and to see him so emotional was so sweet.

GetOrfMoiRing · 09/08/2012 11:32

Also have you seen the BBC commentators cheering when Mo Farah won the gold, it's brilliant

Kenobi · 09/08/2012 11:39

The bit that made me cry was the judo final between Gemma Gibbons - who had just mouthed 'I love you mum' for her mother who passed away when she was a teen - and Kayla Harrison who survived serious sexual abuse as a teen and has been a campaigner against victim blaming.

I know nuffin about judo but I had a little tear in my eye when they hugged at the end. Strong women rock.

I love that clip of the 'impartial bbc team' - it literally makes me weep with laughter every time!
It's Denise Lewis, bouncing up and down that cracks me up!

notcitrus · 09/08/2012 11:41

Arrived in stadium just as the pole vaulter's pole snapped, so was a bit too discombobulated to really notice.

What was really nice was that the loudest cheering of the session was for Sarah Attar, the first woman from Saudi to compete, as she completed the women's 800m for 30 seconds after everyone else had finished.

Very sorry for Daniel Awde though - he won the 100m which was his first decathlon event, with a personal best, then got hurt, did two disallowed long jumps but finally an OK one, but then had to pull out of the whole thing.

stealthsquiggle · 09/08/2012 11:45

I actually thought Chad Le Clos with his wobbly bottom lip through the national anthem was the sweetest bit (although his Dad is clearly a legend) - both of them are going to see those clips at every significant life event for ever more.

GetOrfMoiRing · 09/08/2012 11:49

I thought Gemma Gibbons was lovely, but had no idea about Kayla Harrison. How brave she is.

I also didn't know that about Sarah Attar.

lazarusb · 09/08/2012 11:50

I also thought the way Michael Phelps took Chad Le Clos under his wing and walked him around to see all the people he had to see was really sweet. I've developed quite a liking for Olympic swimmers recently Blush

GetOrfMoiRing · 09/08/2012 11:51

sarah attar video - it's lovely

NormanTheForeman · 09/08/2012 11:56

We liked this following the women's laser sailing event.... Grin

Eve · 09/08/2012 12:03

Oh that Sarah Attar one reduced me to tears

Nancy66 · 09/08/2012 12:11

haven't got a link - but the footage of Chris Hoy's mum watching behind her hands is lovely....not a lip reader but you can easily make out that she's saying ' i can't watch, i can't watch' to her husband.

GetOrfMoiRing · 09/08/2012 12:19

And she says 'oh thank GOD' when he wins. Grin

Nancy66 · 09/08/2012 12:21

I love that she then gets her home-made banner out - the same one she's been unfurling for years now! Bless her...

GetOrfMoiRing · 09/08/2012 12:22

lol at the Belgians!

GetOrfMoiRing · 09/08/2012 12:23

I KNOW that homemade banner. I roared when I watched that. It is lovely as well when chris's mum and dad hug (then straight to the banner).

Bless her.

Yummymummyyobe1 · 09/08/2012 12:59

Whilst yes to be overjoyed to win gold for your country is okay there are certian things that are not acceptable and running around the arena, tearing one's shirt and becoming so intoxicated that you fall asleep and miss a train is a no no. You are representing your country and this does not bode well at all for that.

Also in the name of good sportsmanship surely the behaviour exhibited lack of this yes you have trained hard to represent your company and so have your competitors a little respect perhaps. Celebrate by all means but show a little decorum please.

Shortbutsosweet · 09/08/2012 13:26

Super Saturday and the reaction to bolts win by colin Jackson Denise Lewis and John inverdale!

shrinkingnora · 09/08/2012 13:29

I think he did jump the hurdles but they were the women's ones which are significantly smaller.

shrinkingnora · 09/08/2012 13:30

My favourite was the back view of the commentators as they watched Mo win!

Shortbutsosweet · 09/08/2012 13:36

That was my favourite@ shrinking until I heard colin call bolt the big man!

shrinkingnora · 09/08/2012 13:42

Not the Bolt race bit. Just the Mo bit. It was Denise Lewis jumping around like a loon that made me laugh!

JustTheRightAmountOfWrong · 09/08/2012 13:56

As an aside, Chad Le Clos' dad is right, he IS beautiful !!
