is it so they can spot each other and feel like they are in some middle class club?

Of course. I never leave the house without my pull-ons. Just inn case.

Socknickingpixie · 11/07/2012 23:10

i expect it may be due to the emails offering christ only knows but about 99% off if you spend 20 quid

ssd · 11/07/2012 23:11

20 quid might get you a pair of socks there

I have some acquaintances that talk about Boden all the time. Boring

BigHairyFlowers · 11/07/2012 23:13

Ooh, get you! Hmm

Fimbo · 11/07/2012 23:15

I am a member of a facebook group for buying and selling Boden only. Betcha lurve me dontcha.

marriedinwhite · 11/07/2012 23:16

It's a matter of opinion. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it isn't nice. Well bought pieces have given me great vfm on the basis of cpw.

I could talk about shitey crap from New Look, Primark, etc., but you know what some of it is and some of it is very good. Different strokes for different folks.

usualsuspect · 11/07/2012 23:16

I wouldn't know if someone was wearing Boden unless they left the label sticking out.

DilysPrice · 11/07/2012 23:16

I had the forethought to live somewhere with actual shops, therefore I do not need to resort to shopping from catalogues.

ThisIsAUsername · 11/07/2012 23:18

Horrible, overpriced, frumpy shite it is.

IMO Wink

HexagonalQueenOfEverything · 11/07/2012 23:19

I don't mind it in itself but I don't like the hype and think its pretentious when people will wear nothing but Boden

NorksAreMessy · 11/07/2012 23:20

Buy all my Boden from eBay. But then I am middle class but skint.
Do you hate me totally?

ExitPursuedByABear · 11/07/2012 23:20

Why does it bother you? And how many do? I have no idea of other MNetter clothes shopping habits - but then I don't go into Style & Beauty.

Each to their own.

marriedinwhite · 11/07/2012 23:21

Am going up now - and will slip into my pull ons and cami (that definitely don't get worn to the supermarket Grin).

oooohhhhyes · 11/07/2012 23:21

The kids' stuff tends to be nice and good quality, but the adult stuff tends not to hang well and is overpriced for what it is. I think if you want that type of classic clothing, Esprit and John Lewis are better quality and value. I agree it's a bit smoke and mirrors, like the White Co actually.

whatinthewhatnow · 11/07/2012 23:22

boden's great if you and your children want to dress like a 1950s teddy bear. it's a tribal thing. it's so middle class mothers can spot each other across the playground and make sure their children only play with each other, and don't get infected by anyone wearing George at Asda.

usualsuspect · 11/07/2012 23:22

I think the Boden wearing on MN is a little bit tongue(tong) in cheek tbh.

SoleSource · 11/07/2012 23:23

Mini Boden is fab. Boden for aduklts is tacky, overpriced, frumpy shyte. Go to a proper shop middle class Ladies :)

marriedinwhite · 11/07/2012 23:25

What's a proper shop? Boden is my Laura Ashley of the 80's although as a matter of fact, LA has reinvented itself lately and the lady in there told me they have been innundated by middle aged ladies like myself falling in love all over again. Smile. Much easier than Boden for me - it's just around the corner Grin

ExitPursuedByABear · 11/07/2012 23:25

I wear Joules and Lazy Jack.

marriedinwhite · 11/07/2012 23:27

Can you wear those with ballerina pumps or do you need something trendy. Oh not those Tom things please.

121 · 11/07/2012 23:28

Wow. What are 'pull ons'?? Is this another middle class aspiration like 50 shades... are they a bit kinky?

IsItMeOr · 11/07/2012 23:28

Really, why do you care OP?

And can you not see that you're the one who's doing the stereotyping/labelling while simultaneously accusing others of having some sort of club?

IsItMeOr · 11/07/2012 23:30

And I love the snobbery about it being "catalogue". So what?!?

marriedinwhite are you me? I used to love Laura Ashley and then they closed all their shops around here. Have been eyeing up their online stuff and meaning to track down a RL shop.

usualsuspect · 11/07/2012 23:32

Are pull ons like trackie bottoms?
