AIBU to be livid

Today I went to baby clinic to have DS1 weighed as usual and over heard a conversation between the HV's and the woman who lives next door but one. The woman from next door was complaining about the number of delivery people that had been to our house this week (toy deliveries) and how is unfair how some children have everything given to them on a plate blah blah blah blah. The HV was agreeing and mentioned she knew which family she was talking about before stopping dead in her tracks, when she saw me standing there.

I was livid as this seems so unprofessional to gossip about another family and their goings on (she has been to the house and passed comment on the toys etc our DS1 has) and also livid with the person next door but one for being a nosiy parker just because she doesn't have doesn't mean she has a right to bitch. AIBU to be livid and would you report this?

Ample · 30/06/2012 11:01

I haven't read all the posts but I am wondering... is this the thread with the most messages deleted by Mumsnet? Just curious Grin

Is your husband Christian Grey?

kittyandthefontanelles · 30/06/2012 11:07

Do you ever do normal shopping? It might be nice to take your baby out rather than just get things delivered or would that not be showy enough for you? There is no stealth about this boast. I've had things delivered in my time and they never arrive in the company van. What .happened to UPS. Although Tesco has it's name on the van.

thecook · 30/06/2012 11:08

OP - You called the Old Bill for kids running across your lawn? Fuck me. Its a good job you don't live where I live with that attitude.

Supercalafraj · 30/06/2012 11:11

Are you a hoarder? Is your house full of crappy toys and your kid can't crawl around cus there are boxes everywhere? And was your neighbour telling the HV as she has concerns for your childs safety and does the HV know who she means as she has referred you to social services?

I don't really think that's the point . The point is the op has asked a question and the majority of posters have just jumped on the op and not even bothered to answer it . We see it time an again on mn people are hounded rather than actually answered .

MN reminds me so much of the school playground sometimes .

If it's a stupid question why post then ??? Just ignore the thread ? Hmm

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 30/06/2012 11:45

Just had a look at the names thread and realised this isn't even PFB, OP already has another son. Confused

hairylemon · 30/06/2012 11:57

Siico, best not to worry about why people reply to daft ops. You'd be here all day Grin

mangomadness · 30/06/2012 12:06

I think you're being unreasonable, why were you listening in on a mother's private conversation with her hv? Regardless of what was being discussed you shouldn't have put yourself in a position to hear it. Surely they were in a private room?

As for your spending, stop buying crap and sponsor a child on behalf of your son. That's something he can grow up with and be proud about, especially when he's older and can read the letters and updates.

LurkingAndLearningForNow · 30/06/2012 12:28

'People of a similar background to you?'

Just proves money doesn't buy you class. What a trashy, trashy thing to say.

The words mountain and molehill spring to mind.

Amongst others.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 30/06/2012 12:36

Maybe, just maybe the skanky family on HB have more to offer their children in terms of love, affection, time, etc rather than 100 toys for a 7 week old. And probably don't need to post a list on the internet of all the wonderful things they do?

Just a thought........
