AIBU to be livid

Today I went to baby clinic to have DS1 weighed as usual and over heard a conversation between the HV's and the woman who lives next door but one. The woman from next door was complaining about the number of delivery people that had been to our house this week (toy deliveries) and how is unfair how some children have everything given to them on a plate blah blah blah blah. The HV was agreeing and mentioned she knew which family she was talking about before stopping dead in her tracks, when she saw me standing there.

I was livid as this seems so unprofessional to gossip about another family and their goings on (she has been to the house and passed comment on the toys etc our DS1 has) and also livid with the person next door but one for being a nosiy parker just because she doesn't have doesn't mean she has a right to bitch. AIBU to be livid and would you report this?

Birdsgottafly it is not acceptable really though regardless of what was being said.

they are there a matter of minutes so no issue

Alibabaandthe40nappies how do you mean get over myself? would you not be livid about it.

*Petsinmypudenda no. I'm upset that she can behave that way and that my neighbour thinks it has anything what so ever to do with her.

5inthebedPPA · 29/06/2012 22:18

I thought you had lovely neighbours apart from the ones on your left?

Appears not.

Sparklingbrook · 29/06/2012 22:19

Look - when the HV has people yapping at her about the neighbours she goes yeah...yeah...no I know who you mean....yeah....yeah....anyway lovely to see you, let me show you out....

She can't control who says what to her, and she can't be rude either so she feigns interest to be polite.

That's what i think happened. Tbh.

8 deliveries of toys this week Shock

Definitely too many...................

Perhaps seriously evaluate whether you could give some away to a local refuge - your baby doesnt not need all that lot!
And your house will be much easier to clean and less cluttered without them.

I can't recall getting any toys delivered, ever, and my three children are teenagers now. How many toys does a small baby need?

Its wrong of people to gossip, but 10 toy deliveries for a baby in two weeks is a bit OTT, IMO.

Babies don't need lots of toys, they need love and that can't be delivered (even by John Lewis).

storminabuttercup · 29/06/2012 22:21

Watch out op, she will be asking to borrow them....

sit back and laugh - assured that you are, no doubt, considerably richer than her

IneedAbetterNicknameIn2012 · 29/06/2012 22:22

I don't think I've had 8 toy deliveries since DS1 was born nearly 8 years ago. poor child Grin

Petsinmypudenda Grin Thought you ought to know! Agree fab book and possibly one of the best HP quotes :)

Yummymummyyobe1 · 29/06/2012 22:23

LentillyFart no poo here I can;t see why buying our DS1 things is wrong.

Northernexile I am, I'm afraid.

hairylemon that delivery isn't due until next week.

Sparklingbrook toys don't and as the name of the companies were on the sidw of the vans.

Sparklingbrook DS1 was 2 months today. LOL the thought that it would be on the news.

everlong Around 100 items in total although some only small.

Sparklingbrook · 29/06/2012 22:23

Has this got anything to do with Hot Dawg vans and Mario the ice cream man?

startwig1982 · 29/06/2012 22:23

At least she hasn't asked you for more nappies(I'm presuming). Or to borrow some toys. I'm surprised she hasn't tried to steal some of the deliveries though. Grin

My ds2 is the same age as your baby and has only started showing an interest in looking at things this week.
