I hear of this relatively often.
JUST DON'T DO IT.

OP posts:
threeleftfeet · 29/06/2012 17:53

DP packed for me yesterday. Is that acceptable then?!!

Jins · 29/06/2012 17:56

I think there's an awful lot of not reading posts going on from both sides. That's not unusual

yellowraincoat · 29/06/2012 17:57

No obviously not theeleftfeet

Moominsarescary · 29/06/2012 17:58

yellow why are you still arguing about it then, noone is on here complaining that they get all the shit stuff to do while their oh do all the lovely things

Spuddybean · 29/06/2012 17:59

If that is directed at me yellow then i am - the last one we cross posted.

I do know what you are saying. My Mum does everything for my Dad, to the extent that he is at home not working while she works full time. He sits at home all day watching porn and making mix tapes (some kind of weird second adolescence) and when she walks thru the door he will aggressively tell her to mop the floor before she cooks dinner.

She also packs his suitcases too.

However, i think using the one chore analogy doesn't work. As that is where our relationship similarities end.

Time for more quizzes methinks...

OneHandFlapping · 29/06/2012 18:00

I can't believe some DHs are so hopeless they would smell because they are unable to pack enough changes of clothes, or wash out the ones they have.

And that some women feel the need to rescue them from this state by doing their chores for them.

These men are taking the piss!

My Dp is better at packing than I am.

Any vodka in that jug of pimms?

Jins · 29/06/2012 18:05

I'll have a pimms LeQ

You smudged your lipstick a bit btw Grin

Spuddybean · 29/06/2012 18:05

No onehand DP has difficulties projecting into the future iyswim. He finds it almost impossible to think about dates and activities which are not current. So he has clean pants and deoderant on today so everything is fine. It's a man falling from a skyscraper saying so far so good as he passes each floor.

As i said he has SN in a way - has been told he is on the aspergers scale he is also very dyslexic. He is not the same as a lazy, that i would not tolerate. He gets caught up in things and doesn't notice other things.

Yes, DP is better at it than me. I would feel very strange indeed though if he chose my clothes for me.

The ribbon is lovely but you need to take your pinny off

LeB0F · 29/06/2012 18:09

Can I drink Pimms while everybody else does their own packing?

Q1. Do you get emotionally involved in Mumsnet threads?
a. Of course, Mumsnet it where my true friends are.
b. Only when the poster disagreeing with me is a caaaah.
c. No, I'm original MN royalty and stand far above that sort of thing.
d. No, I'm just bored and picking an argument for fun.

Now total up your score

A - I suggest contacting your local authority's adult learning department and taking a floristry/watercolour/bricklaying evening class whichever starts soonest.

B - Off you trot to nethuns darlin'.

C - Biscuit

D - Go and bake cakes with darling offspring, then eat the lot and make DH do the washing up.

limitedperiodonly · 29/06/2012 18:15

There is no issue if you both help each other. I think this has been stated, oh, about 100000000 times.

The problem is that loads of women do all the shitwork while the men get all the lovely glorious fun work that people say they're oh so clever and respsonsible for being able to cope with.

This ^^ from yellowraincoat says what I want to say.

noddyholder · 29/06/2012 18:16

I would never pack for dp or vice versa. He does buy me some lovely things though

GoOnTim · 29/06/2012 18:16

Heh heh

Loving the thread. I'm an insane list writer, but dh is in charge of his own clothes buying and packing.

However he did manage to only pack 5 pairs of pants for a two week holiday this time. I obviously laughed my head off and then made him buy some more off a market. They had a leopard on Grin

This thread has reminded me to tell everyone we know about it SmileSmileSmile
