I get it - she's tired, shes rubbing her eyes but LADY dont just ignore her and carry on shopping.
it was a bloody racket! take her out, cuddle her shushshushshush her - not just subject the rest of us to this cacophony

Of course, terribly rude of a child to cry. How bloody dare they Hmm

usualsuspect · 25/06/2012 15:47

Poor you, maybe send your butler to do your shopping next time?

AnnaMosity · 25/06/2012 15:49

Obviously kids cry. But, mothers! Manners!
If your kid is crying either
A) make an effort to prioritise it over a (frankly unflattering) maxi dress
B) remove it from others ear holes

It's only to be expected.

Maybe the OP should try online shopping.

AnnaMosity · 25/06/2012 15:50

Panda my choufleur. I think you are right

PandaWatch · 25/06/2012 15:50

Oh. I get it. It's one of those threads.

PeazlyPops · 25/06/2012 15:50

YABU! My pfb was crying earlier in a shop, he was in his pram and was fed and changed, but over-tired. The motion of the pram would make him sleep after a few mins, but picking him up would over-stimulate him & take longer for him to nod off.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 25/06/2012 15:50

Or id the OP put her head back up her arse where it belongs...that would also block out the sound !

RobinSparkles · 25/06/2012 15:51

Sometimes my DDs have cried when they are tired. If we're out, and DD2 is in the pushchair, crying because she's tired I ignore her and the pushchair movements make her drift off. If I picked her up it would NOT help - she would arch her back and start kicking and tantruming. If she's ignored then she'll go to sleep.

I probably couldn't carry on clothes shopping, as I wouldn't be able to concentrate, but I definitely do it outside when I'm walking home from somewhere.

AnnaMosity · 25/06/2012 15:52

To be honest. I don't give a hoot about kids sleep patterns. It's rude to inflict them on us.

Like taking a baby to the hairdressers. I give mine both barrels if I spot one. I PAY to leave kids at home to have my hair done.

Robin. Agree. I would have left with shame! Many a tense walk to carpal with bucking bronco of madness in push hair.

Not in a shop

Heh heh, am sure I have been on a similar thread with you before op Wink. Think it was Waitrose that time. Hasn't mn changed a lot? look at all the arsey deliberately-looking-for-offence (can't remember the word for that) replies!

usualsuspect · 25/06/2012 15:54

try these next time you go shopping

Pandemoniaa · 25/06/2012 15:54

If I'd left every supermarket when ds1 threw a tantrum, we'd have all died of malnutrition before he was 3.

Mindyourownbusiness · 25/06/2012 15:54

A tantrum yes maybe ignore to a degree if that is your chosen parenting method of choice. But the OP has now clarified was a tired 'had enough' sort of crying. Surely none of the child behaviour books/gurus suggest ignoring those sort of cries anymore than the hungry/thirsty ones. I agree the mum was being a tad selfish to both her child and other shoppers to continue 'browsing' and 'chatting' while her child was loudly making known her distress.

I do suffer from a condition however that means very loud noise actually physically hurts so am probably a little biased or more understanding of the OPs pov. than some.

But sorry OP you are up against the 'hand that rocks the cradle' brigade here so dont think you'll get much joy.

AnnaMosity · 25/06/2012 15:55

Ha! I love those. I might put them over baby's mouth.

AnnaMosity · 25/06/2012 15:55

Online food?

AnnaMosity · 25/06/2012 15:56

You forget there was a hapless mate there too. Did nothing.

PandaWatch · 25/06/2012 15:56

I think anyone taking anything the OP says seriously is BU.

She called me a cauliflower. She's clearly either bored and wanting to shit-stir or barking. Or both.

RobinSparkles · 25/06/2012 15:57

It might have been the only chance she had to go shopping. Not everyone has the money for babysitters and not everyone has family support.

The only chance to maxi dress ! Horrors.
She could have shopped online

AnnaMosity · 25/06/2012 15:58

Saw another one the other day. Twins. Unattractive. Bucking in push hair from utter boredom as mother tried on shoes. As she bent you got a good gawp at her arse crack, whether you wanted to or not.

I have heard it all now!
IMPORTANT UPDATE 2012:
Bus replacement between Kapikule & Istanbul from March 2012 to October 2013 due to Bosphorus Tunnel Project engineering work...

Since 19 March, the Eastbound 'Bosfor' from Bucharest and 'Balkan Express' from Sofia & Belgrade has been terminating at the Turkish border at Kapikule at 01:05 and a replacement bus takes train passengers on to Istanbul. The bus is chartered by Turkish Railways and accepts train tickets. It should arrive outside Istanbul Sirkeci station earlier than the train was due to, around 06:30.
Westbound, a bus leaves Istanbul Sirkeci at 22:00 for Kapikule, where passengers go through border formalities before joining the 'Bosfor' and 'Balkan Express trains for Bucharest/Sofia/Belgrade, departing Kapikule at 04:05.
This situation will continue until at least October 2013, while the railways around Istanbul are transformed with the new Bosphorus rail tunnel & a new mainline rail station underground in European Istanbul, serving trains to both Europe and Asia.

Feedback appreciated if you go this way! Perhaps it would be best to delay your trip to Turkey until 2014!

Screaming children in a supermarket, how very dare they!

RobinSparkles · 25/06/2012 16:01

I didn't mean that she should've gone outside, btw. I just meant that I wouldn't have been able to stay in a clothes shop. I would stay in a supermarket though.
