to use bondage tape on dd and dsd?

Rachog · 05/06/2012 22:21

Dd and dsd both 4 are into the little mermaid at the moment. Dd found a Christmas stocking in the toy box and was wearing it like a fin.

This of course caused arguments because dsd wanted a fin too. I remembered that I had a roll of pink bondage tape in the grown up toy box so I used it to bind their legs from knee to ankle leaving their feet Aw flippers.

The girls were made up with their mermaid tails and had lots of fun but when dp came in he was less than impressed.

The tape is like punk plastic on a roll that sticks to itself but not clothes or skin. It's quite flexible and easily torn to remove it.

So was I being unreasonAble?

:) @ parcel tape = gift

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 07/06/2012 20:39

I don't think it's a case of our minds working in a different way, rather some of us (well, me - I can't speak for anyone else) are quite wary of the fact that there are people out there whose motivations are sinister.

I haven't objected to anything you've said op, other than the thread title, and I think you've taken any criticism with good grace.

Back when the Let Girls be Girls campaign was news, I was quite vociferous in my condemnation of people seeing "sex" where there was none. So my new role as po-faced pearl clutcher is something of a surprise to me.

squeakytoy · 07/06/2012 20:44

I still can't get over using bondage tape on four year olds

take out the word bondage and you probably can quite easily get over it... Wink

in fact take out the word bondage, and it is tape, just tape, nothing more, nothing less, tape...

but so what? she improvised... she didnt reuse it! suppose it had been baby oil, bought for the purpose of sexual massage... would you be disgusted if some of it was then used (fresh from the bottle) on a child?

Thanks jenai, I must admit I hadn't thought of it from that point of view actually, I have a maybe false sense of security from all mums together and would consider anything more sinister.

Squeakytoy. I couldn't agree more.

OP posts:
squeakytoy · 07/06/2012 20:52

she didnt tie the children up with it and whip them...

she put the word bondage in because her husband obviously knew what the tape was when he walked in, and for some odd reason didnt seem impressed... perhaps it was because he was hoping for a bit of bondage later and was worried she had used it all, perhaps it was simply because he walked through the door to see his daughters with their legs tied up, and just didnt realise they were playing at being mermaids..

AnyFucker · 07/06/2012 20:53

OP inserted the word "bondage"

the OP

right there in the thread title

or else why any need for this thread ?

AnyFucker · 07/06/2012 20:55

maybe the dh walked in and saw his sex toys used on his daughters ?

and wasn't happy

I wouldn't be

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 07/06/2012 20:55

I think that's easily done, Rach.

I hate to be paranoid about all this; there's a balance to be struck I think.

AnyFucker · 07/06/2012 20:56

taking the word "bondage" out would be to deny the truth of the OP

why would anyone do that ?

squeakytoy · 07/06/2012 20:58

I just read this out to my husband... he said "but its just pink gaffer tape.. does it matter what it is used for or what colour it is?.. I have loads of different coloured tape in my van, I am not a pervert... if my grandaughter came up to me and asked if she could have some so she could be a mermaid, why would there be a problem? I have used it to fix leaks on manky toilets, but I wouldnt be giving her the same bit of tape that I had already used"..

So there you have another sensible male point of view..

sends husband to van for some tape Grin

AnyFucker · 07/06/2012 21:04

are we doing the "handyman" and "sensible bloke" quote thing ?

I told my DH about this thread, he said "they used their props they use in their sex games with their kids ? That's a bit weird"

AnyFucker · 07/06/2012 21:06

and then he checked the oil on his van and came back inside for some non-adult play with his kids

youarekidding · 07/06/2012 21:09

AF is right. If you took out the word bondage the whole point of the thread would be different.

But then again I wonder if people's responses would be different if it just said 'tape'.

I also wonder if the tape was kept in the kitchen drawer and not in the 'adult toy box' but yet was still the same stuff as bondage tape if peoples responses would be different.

I think the differences in opinion seem to stem from the original reason the tape was bought - not the actual tape/ mermaid legs concoction.

I can seperate the 2 but do respect those who cannot. I don't respect those brandishing accusations of child abuse about to mothers.

I am also a little bemused by the whole needing to keep children and sex as far apart as possible in any thought process.......... you do know how babies are made right? Grin

EchoBitch · 07/06/2012 21:12

I just asked DP who agreed with AF.

You don't dress your children up in sex aids.

Would the op have used it if DCs friends were there and would their parents be happy.

A grown up toy box is for grown ups, and sounds a bit creepy to me ,maybe i'm just old fashioned but a resounding NO from me and my sensible bloke.

squeakytoy · 07/06/2012 21:12

"they used their props they use in their sex games with their kids ? That's a bit weird"

but they didnt though, did they... she used something that could be used for a prop in a sex game, or could be used to hold a bunch of knitting needles together, or could keep an electric cable in place.... just because it was sold (and no doubt massively marked up in price) as "bondage tape", that does not mean it is it's sole purpose in reality.

Ann Summers sells chocolate body paint. It would not do any harm to a child if they painted it onto their hand and licked it off.. the child would not need to know exactly where their parent might be painting it and licking it off....

TantrumsAndBalloons · 07/06/2012 21:13

My DH also agreed with AF and AFs DH that it just sounds all wrong

WorraLiberty · 07/06/2012 21:14

Would the op have used it if DCs friends were there and would their parents be happy

Why wouldn't she?

It's. Pink. Sticky. Tape.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 07/06/2012 21:14

It wasn't adult play though, AF. Even I can see that.

This reminds me of those AIBU to have sex when the baby is asleep in the same room threads. Some people don't care, some people (who I find a bit odd tbh) are almost crying "paedo!", and others can't shag in the same room as their cat let alone a baby, but understand that it's their modesty rather than the op's perversion that prevents them from doing the same.

AnyFucker · 07/06/2012 21:15

I do believe that one's children and their parents sex life are two very separate issues

and would wonder why promoting that they be in the same thought frame would be a good thing

sorry, YAK, I think we agree on some points and not others

my children are teenagers now, and they know about sex, and they probably accept I have a sex life (whilst madly denying it of course)

but to keep those two issues together as having any kind of linkage is a bit weird, past the point of "when you have sex you might have a baby, and that is how you were made"

using your sex props in your children's innocent play doesn't fall into that remit, IMO

EchoBitch · 07/06/2012 21:16

Well i wouldn't be happy if someone used bondage tape on my DC.

AnyFucker · 07/06/2012 21:18

I would like Op to take a photo of the packaging that the bondage tape came in and put it on her profile

or link it here

and see if it was supposed to be used for knitting needles
