to use bondage tape on dd and dsd?

Rachog · 05/06/2012 22:21

Dd and dsd both 4 are into the little mermaid at the moment. Dd found a Christmas stocking in the toy box and was wearing it like a fin.

This of course caused arguments because dsd wanted a fin too. I remembered that I had a roll of pink bondage tape in the grown up toy box so I used it to bind their legs from knee to ankle leaving their feet Aw flippers.

The girls were made up with their mermaid tails and had lots of fun but when dp came in he was less than impressed.

The tape is like punk plastic on a roll that sticks to itself but not clothes or skin. It's quite flexible and easily torn to remove it.

So was I being unreasonAble?

Sorry but I find it creepy.

rainbowinthesky · 06/06/2012 09:06

I in the yanbu camp. It's tape.

squeakytoy · 06/06/2012 09:12

It is pink tape for heavens sakes, it hasnt been pre-used for anything else.... I am assuming it is plain tape, not decorated with handcuff prints, playboy bunnies, or anything else sexually related, so two 4 year olds are not going to think "ooh mum let us use her bondage tape"...

If they were playing with a vibrator, whip, or any sort of sex toy then fair enough, but pink tape on it's own is not in any way a sex toy.

LST · 06/06/2012 09:13

YANBU OP. People are thinking waaaaay to much about it IMO.

Hulababy · 06/06/2012 09:17

Is it the equivalent to like the barrier tape you can buy? But in different colours?

TheCunningStunt · 06/06/2012 09:17

YANBU. Bondage tape is the same as plumbers tape...some genius decided to re-market it in the bondage industry and made a few bucks. Don't stress about it. It's pink plumbers tape, that adheres to itself and stops leaks(under my sink is covered in itBlush)

My friends little boy(many many years ago) ran out into the garden where his mother was sitting shouting "HE-MAAAAAAN Master of the Universe" whilst holding her vibrator up to the sky! He was four and had been under her bed. Needless to say she got a box that locked Grin

TheCunningStunt · 06/06/2012 09:18

Ok, maybe it's not quite the same as plumbers tape...but it's tape nonetheless

McKayz · 06/06/2012 09:22

YANBU. You can buy similar stuff in craft shops. Would it be a problem if you said I used craft tape? I doubt it.

Incaminka · 06/06/2012 09:24

HE-MAAAAAN!!!! [Grin]

Yanbu. That's like saying it's bad to use baby oil for sex because it's for babies....
I bet they had a great time.

GhouliaYelps · 06/06/2012 09:30

I couldn't do it no, with your dp on this.
Bondage tape + children = no

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 06/06/2012 09:30

I can honestly understand both reactions, here (although dittany, I seriously doubt the girls will remember that this was bondage tape).

Op how long have you and your partner known each other? If I came home and found dp had found a novel use for something along similar lines I'd be fine. But then we've been together for 15 years and know each other inside out. If I came home and found one of ds's friend's parents had done this to him, I'd be a bit Hmm

SaggyCeratops · 06/06/2012 09:31

Ingenious! Well done!

squeakytoy · 06/06/2012 09:33

but it is just tape.... it has a multitude of uses... it isnt specifically only for sex play!

chibi · 06/06/2012 09:34

It is not creepy because tape that sticks to itself could be used as a sex toy

it is creepy cos in your house it has been used/bought with the intention of being used as a sex toy

I presume your DP didn't like the idea of stuff you use for sex play being used for kids' play. That is probably bondage gone from your repertoire for a while. YANBU though

ThePinkPussycat · 06/06/2012 09:39

No problem, it seems to me. It's just tape. Marketing opportunity for 'mermaid tail tape'?

youarekidding · 06/06/2012 09:41

Brilliant Grin

Its tape, pink, sticky together tape that doesn't tear the skin off on removal and is pink. That is how 2 4yo DD's will see it.

More importantly the girls will see that Rach has 1) taken the effort to produce something for their play and 2) treated them both as equals and made sure they can enjoy their time playing as sisters and not favouring her own DD - who found the stocking first.

I guess all those who find it creepy are the ones who gasp in horror when parents use their children's toys in fore role play.

ErikNorseman · 06/06/2012 09:42

Dittany's back! Hooray!

Op I find that squicky. Not logical but there you go. I wouldn't have done it.

ErikNorseman · 06/06/2012 09:43

Hmm yeah, that is creepy.

I must admit that i never give my kids cucumber, banana or strawberries, or cream, or syrup, or olive oil or use moisturiser, or soap, or use latex gloves because I have used them as sex toys.. that would be so U...Grin

squeakytoy · 06/06/2012 09:46

Umm, I dont find using the tape creepy at all, but I would draw a line at using toys that your child plays with for sex play...

WorraLiberty · 06/06/2012 09:46

Love it!

Only on MN could there be such over reaction to a bit of pink tape Grin

Though to be honest, I thought the fact it was pink would have sent a few people into meltdown....

squeakytoy · 06/06/2012 09:47

Grin good point Worra!
