No, because it isn't MIL's album or photo. She's just seeing, & able to comment on, her grandson's tagged photo because she's on his friend list.

It's a photo posted by an acquaintance of OP's son. OP's son has been tagged. Anyone who is a friend of OP's son (eg. his grandmother, MIL) or a friend of the lad who posted the photo (eg. unpleasant boy) can now see it & comment on it.

If anyone needs to adjust their settings, it's the OP's son, so he can't be tagged. Although even that's somewhat overkill IMO - it's the comment that's inappropriate, & would be inappropriate in any context, not just FB.

lisaro · 28/05/2012 00:03

As you have spoken to the Police DO NOT speak to his mother and certainly do not go to his house. Let them deal with it. You could end up getting yourself into trouble. He sounds a fucked up little shit - don't open yourself up to any accusations or even to understandable temptation.

ShakeWhatYourMamaGaveYou · 28/05/2012 03:24

What a repugnant, heinous little turd. Report to school, police and fb asap. How upsetting for MIL to receive that.

Now I'm normally rather mild-mannered, but would it going too far to suggest that someone rams something large and spikey up HIS arse?

I think even if he did see a picture of the Grandmother, it was porbably only her profile picture which would have been shown alongside her comment.

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 28/05/2012 08:44

raven I think Squeaky is correct actually....seperate issue but corrct nonetheless. The Grans album was visible to all...and in future it might be best for it not to be. She doesn't want this boy looking at her pics.

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 28/05/2012 08:45

Hilly no he saw and named one of her albums.

Hullygully · 28/05/2012 08:50

Does anyone understand fb...??

RabidAnchovy · 28/05/2012 09:23

OK have been to see the head and I thought the man was going to explode. He will be taking this up with the boy today, The police are also sending a community officer round to speak with him.

DS face book is set to friends only.
DS is friends with the boy who posted the photo
DS is friends with his gran so as the photo was on visible on DSs feed gran could see it
Vile boy is friends with by who posted photo

I have rechecked ALL DS1s settings and been through his friends list.

OP posts:
RabidAnchovy · 28/05/2012 09:24

THE PHOTO WAS NOT IN GRANS PHOTOS IT WAS POSTED BY ONE OF DS1s FRIENDS

EduStudent · 28/05/2012 09:26

I'm glad the head's taking this seriously.

Have the police indicated what the likely outcome of their visit is? As in, is it likely to be formal/informal?

RabidAnchovy · 28/05/2012 09:26

Oh and on a childish note, I did point out to the head that the boys English teacher might like to have words as his grammar is shocking Grin

How awful. It amazes me though, that some idiots seem to feel they can write whetever they like on facebook and will not be held accountable for their actions.

RabidAnchovy · 28/05/2012 09:28

Police said they would have a little chat about how inappropriate it is, I just hope it will be enough to give his a fright, Also if the police arrived at my door for something they had done the police would be the last thing my boys would have to worry about, hell have no fury like an angry mother Grin

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 28/05/2012 09:32

The boy was able to see one of her albums. This doesn't mean he has full sight of her profile; it all depends on her settings.

Anyway, to second what lisaro says, I really don?t think the OP should be contacting the mother. I hope she?s been on the phone to the school already this morning to give them a heads-up ahead of any trouble today between her son and the boy.

RabidAnchovy · 28/05/2012 09:35

Jena, it was not in MIL photos, it was a school friend of DS1 who is also friends with vile boy.

I have been to the school to see the head this morning

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 28/05/2012 09:37

x-posts, sorry OP Blush

EduStudent · 28/05/2012 09:39

OP, I think the who saw what on whose profile confusion is coming from the comment the boy made about an album called 'my eye'.

Does your MIL have an album called 'my eye' that he saw? As if so, he was clearly able to see her albums. If not, then, well. He's hardly shown himself to be sensible and rational as it is.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 28/05/2012 09:42

Oh and I fully undeerstood that the photo wasn't one from one of her albums. But he quoted the name of one.

There was nothing in any of your posts to suggest that your MIL's settings were inadequate; that's what I was trying to get across.

get0rfm0iland · 28/05/2012 09:43

Good on you for telling the school and the police.

You have got to wonder what kind of filth that kid says to the 15 year old girls he goes to school with.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 28/05/2012 09:47

he was clearly able to see her albums

No. he was clearly able to see the name of one of her albums. That?s not the same at all.

roundtable · 28/05/2012 09:47

Well done op.

RabidAnchovy · 28/05/2012 09:48

I will ask MIL what her settings are, and advise her to check her settings,

I do not know what MILs albums are as she is not on my face book Blush

OP posts:
mistlethrush · 28/05/2012 09:48

What did the Head Teacher say?

squeakytoy · 28/05/2012 09:51

Sorry to have to repeat the words but from what he has written to her, he has been able to see HER photo album called "my eye".

"OLD WOMAN WHO HAS MADE A FACEBOOK ACCOUNT THOUGHT SHE'D DO THE OLD EXPERIENCED LIFE LIVER THING AND TRY BE FUNNY WHO HAS A ALBUM CALLED 'My eye'"

Which means her privacy settings are not tight and anyone can see her photos. Which means if he wants to carry on being a shit (and kids like this often do), he can make up another account, find her profile, and do this some more....

I AM trying to help her here... Confused
