To find it hard to believe that there are a lot of women out there who aren't what you'd term "old" who have to wear Tenna Lady panty liners?

I've just seen an advert for Tenna Lady Panty Liners. The woman featured in the add is a very glam woman, who looks to be in her early 30s, who keeps saying "oops", which I assume is a little euphemism for involuntary incontenence.

Am I just being naive about the extent of this problem among women under the age of 80, or is it just because they don't want to feature an 80+ year old woman in their advert?

Lots of women suffer minor and major incontinence after giving birth.

Agree with ragingmull. I am currently seeing a physiotherapist for my incontinence, and she has worked wonders! And I'm saving a fortune on pantliners which is just as well as hospital parking is bloody expensive.

I find saying oops every time you piss yourself defeats the object of discreet incontinence pants.

I know loads of women my age wear them (I'm 27). One women "doubles up" for her Zumba lesson as that type of vigorous activity combined with a few rounds of childbirth is gonna lead to leaks. She even posted about it on her fb, sounds like an overshare but I know a lot of the social circle went "Thank fudge it's not just me!".

YAB a little naive but it doesn't affect every woman and it's not something often spoken of.

YY ragingmull after "missing a 3rd degree tear by a membrane" in the words of the doctor who did the stitching I can fully understand why alot of women have continence problems.
It took a flipping long time to regain control -but when I have a cold I'm not 100%. Sad
And I didn't have DC young - I don't think it would have been any different if I had him as a teenager.

I've had a nasty cough and cold this week and it's been a good reminder to keep up the pelvic floor exercises!

Thanks raginmull I didn't learn my lesson though. Had DD a couple of years later.
More stitches but not as severe.
No more DCs ,there's not enough suturing thread in Essex Grin

I'm shocked how many people suffer this. Do Gps really just tell people to spend the rest of their life wearing tena lady???

Well, I've been educated by you lot. I consider myself very fortunate to have got away without having it happen to me after childbirth. Bloody glad I had a c-section!

I wondered why they were advertising them during "Come Dine with Me" but now I see. I thought those adverts would be reserved for "Countdown" along with the ones for insurances to put a little bit by for "after you're gone".

Actually, the thing that annoys me about those ads is that it makes it seem as though female incontinence is just an inevitable thing.
There are solutions to it for most people, e.g exercises. It's not something that anyone should just accept and go into incontinence pads for for ever without examining the options.

To be fair, I don't really think I'm being unreasonable - just naive because I really do sympathise wholeheartedly with anyone who has to put up with this.

Having had a 3rd degree tear 12 weeks ago..... yabu!
Having has a c section last time around I wasn't prepared for the problems I encountered this time around..... Noone really talks about it!!

I've just Googles and found that rates of involuntary incontinence is higher in women who've had C-sections than in women who've never had a child but in women who've had vaginal deliveries it's even higher. So while a C-section offers no guarantees, you're at higher risk if you give birth vaginally.

It is a running joke in my family that if my mam or my auntie rings the doorbell, you will find them standing cross legged on the step and they will then leg it past you to the loo.

Oh, how I used to laugh. I daren't now, I am 40 and I would piss myself.

As for morning sickness in your second pregnancy....puking and pissing yourself at the same time is such fun...
