To say that I think Kate Middleton looks like she has an eating disorder?

Umm skinny's not the word. Possibly and probably a size zero? Not natural/down to fast metabolism either as she used to be 'bigger'. That waist is thinner than my thigh by a long shot. Even DH said about it this morning and he's generally not interested in that sort of thing.

Don't understand why it hasn't even been mentioned in the press? I'm confident that any other celeb/person in the public eye would be questioned/accused of being anorexic.

I wonder what her BMI is? I would suggest dangerously low, NOT a good example IMO. However, gorgeous teal dress :)

I look as thin as Kate. I am 5 ft 7 and 8.5 stone, just as a point of reference. As if she is 7.5 stone!

Get0rfMoiLand · 12/05/2012 11:27

Plus, if she does eat carefully and watch her weight to make sure she maintains a certain weight/size, why is that necessarily a bad thing? Monitoring what you eat does not mean that you have an ED. There is nothing wrong with wanting to appear slim.

Tbh if i was in her position I would do the same. If she put on a pound there would be mass speculation that she was pregnant, or loads of editorial about how Kate is starting to 'embrace her curves'. Fuck that for a game of soldiers.

frankieb70s · 12/05/2012 11:27

She is very very thin, but don't most people in the public eye excersise a lot and eat extremely carefully. She may well have an eating disorder behind closed doors, but I think too many people like her to want to agree with you there. I've never taken an interest personally so you can say what ever you like. I'm not sure why people are offended by your post.

HowardnHilda · 12/05/2012 11:28

And isn't it odd how everyone loves to slag off slim people because , as we all know, everyone is always trying to put on weight . No threads ever on losing weight, no obsessions with being slim. When was anyone last congratulated on getting fat?

I wonder how much money a company called Fattening World would make? Or Weight Gainers?

No? And why, because being fat is (thankfully) undesirable in our society because it's generally unhealthy and to many, unsightly.

Too many people are in denial about just how fat they are when they think a slim, athletic, toned woman has an eating disorder!

TalHotBlond · 12/05/2012 11:29

I think she looks fit and toned which is a good example, surely?

nizlopi · 12/05/2012 11:30

I think the thing is that there are too many women in the media who are skeletal, and we are expected to see that as the 'norm'.

I know I'd rather fuck Beth Ditto than Kate Middleton.

Get0rfMoiLand · 12/05/2012 11:31

I love the way people bandy around the term size zero all shocked.
Size 0 is american size which translates to a size 4 in the UK, which is not insanely small given size creep, and probably roughly translates to the equivalent of a size 6-8 in real terms. So not freakishly small at all really.

MmeLindor. · 12/05/2012 11:33

There was a fascinating programme a few years ago about being "naturally slim".

They observed a group of students for a month and recorded what they ate. They were encouraged not to change their eating habits. The "naturally slim" ones were all simply less interested in food, more likely to forget a meal and not finish everything on their plate.

Not saying that all slim people are like that, but that was the result of that test.

HowardnHilda · 12/05/2012 11:33

I find Beth Ditto repulsive and flabby. But isn't it great we are all different, nozlopi?

I think the thing is that there are too many women in ordinary life who are lardarses and we are expected to see that as the norm.

Get0rfMoiLand · 12/05/2012 11:33

Oh yes THAT'S the point.

MmeLindor. · 12/05/2012 11:34

Nizlopi
Your comments are abhorrent.

"skeletal" is a disgusting way to describe someone.

nizlopi · 12/05/2012 11:35

I think its not just that Kate Middleton is boney and gross, but Beth would be way better in bed. Kate would just expect you to do all the work I imagine.

HowardnHilda · 12/05/2012 11:36

mmelindor I can eat everything and anything, and do. I have an enormous appetite but I burn it all off by being extrmely active, having a very high muscle to fat ratio and being fit. Which is how humans are meant to be, biologically. I suspect KM is similar. All the toned, fit people I know are, we can all out eat most fat people , oddly.

MmeLindor. · 12/05/2012 11:36

Nizlopi
I would tell you to fuck off but that would be against MN's guidelines so I will just point and laugh at you.

HowardnHilda · 12/05/2012 11:38

nizlopi It's good you fancy people who are flabby and gross as opposed to boney (sp) and gross. It will greatly improve your chances of getting a shag Grin

nizlopi · 12/05/2012 11:38

You know I'm not actually here right? I'm words on a screen. Are you literally pointing and laughing at your computer screen?

Because that is really weird.

Tee2072 · 12/05/2012 11:39

You have that backwards, G0ML. US 0 = UK -2. Grin

UK sizes are smaller, not larger.

Goldenbear · 12/05/2012 11:43

What with KM and Johnny Boden's teenage girl models, the example these people are setting.... Skinny is everything, forget you have brains girls just obsess, obsess over your weight, your looks, yourself!!

fatherchewylouis · 12/05/2012 11:43

Tee she's right, when I was an 8-10 in uk I was a 2-4 in the states (few years ago now)

diddl · 12/05/2012 11:43

I think that she´s looking too thin now.

And before this I´d never seen her looking anything but slim & healthy anyway.

I´m surprised at the amount of people who think that she looks fine & not underweight tbh.

winnybella · 12/05/2012 11:43

I think that 'humans are meant to be slim' doesn't mean that people can stuff their faces with pies and still be size 6 or 8, rather that if people had an optimum lifestyle i.e. healthy diet and being active, they would be mostly lean and muscly (of course some more, some less, depends on many factors, but generally speaking not consuming more calories than you burn and exercising will make you slim).

So in that sense I don't think people with lots of spare fat on their bodies is how we were 'programmed' to be.

hardboiledpossum · 12/05/2012 11:44

I'm a British size 4-6, so an american size 0-2. I do not have an eating disorder, I just eat healthily, am naturally small framed and do a bit of exercise. I managed to get pregnant without even trying and whilst on the pill! I have a bmi of 18 which is slightly underweight I think but not massively so and my hip to waist ratio is perfect. I don't actually look anything like kate middleton as I'm naturally curvy and only 5' 4" but I think that she looks lovely.

Tee2072 · 12/05/2012 11:46

Actually, upon some research, it depends on who you ask!

this site says I'm right.

this one says you are!

Hmm

One of life's mysteries, I guess!

Tee2072 That's not right, I have a few US dresses that are a size 2 and fit like a size 6 uk.
