To say that I think Kate Middleton looks like she has an eating disorder?

Umm skinny's not the word. Possibly and probably a size zero? Not natural/down to fast metabolism either as she used to be 'bigger'. That waist is thinner than my thigh by a long shot. Even DH said about it this morning and he's generally not interested in that sort of thing.

Don't understand why it hasn't even been mentioned in the press? I'm confident that any other celeb/person in the public eye would be questioned/accused of being anorexic.

I wonder what her BMI is? I would suggest dangerously low, NOT a good example IMO. However, gorgeous teal dress :)

American sizes are supposed to be 2 notches or 4 numbers below (so US 4 is UK 8)

But it depends where you shop, of course. If a 12 in Jane Norman is a 10 in M&S then who can say what a "UK 10" is anyway?

Trills What last name is on her bank account now?

Mountbatten-Windsor?

I bet she doesn't bank at Lloyds Grin

fatlazymummy · 12/05/2012 11:50

diddl when I was growing up in the 70's there wouldn't have been any comment made on Kate Middleton's weight and appearance, because most people looked similar and it was considered normal. That's why I don't see her as underweight [and I am speaking as someone who has been up and down in weight]. I think we are becoming conditioned to think of being overweight [or at least heavier] as normal.
I wonder what the opinion would be in France or Italy, where the average woman is probably a little slimmer.

Nizlopi - dont be so stupid and offensive. If you truly think KM has 'turned into skeletor' then you have a very distorted idea of what is normal. She's very slim (although clearly not 7.5 stone, that's just silly), but she is not abnormal in any way.

As for the Beth Ditto comment? Whatever, don't imagine you're ever likely to have to make that choice.

nizlopi · 12/05/2012 12:00

Kate Middleton is used frequently as 'thinspiration' on sites like tumblr, livejournal and pinterest. Says it all really.

Beth Ditto doesn't give a fuck. I like that in a lady.

Goldenbear · 12/05/2012 12:00

I'm sure Jaja, the opinion I posted earlier is mine it is distinct from the collective one regard the JB thread. I don't agree but didn't post this on the original thread.

Sure there are people have become used to seeing overweight as the norm but there are also people obsessing over weight of themselves, of their children that is a reaction to this - neither is healthy!

Im a bit Hmm at all the posters commenting that she is naturally thin and athletic

dukn diet anyone?

saffronwblue · 12/05/2012 12:02

I think KM is thin and she looked better when a bit more filled out. I have no idea what her mental state is or her feelings around food.

nizlopi · 12/05/2012 12:04

They are both opposites of the spectrum in my view. Both are just as likely as the other to get health issues because of their weight.

I just know who I'd rather party with. And it aint Kate.

dictionarydiva · 12/05/2012 12:06

I think it's weird that this is apparently such a contentious issue. She does look a bit thin, she definitely used to be fatter and speaking for myself I think she did look better when she had boobs. No one is saying it's right or wrong to be fatter or thinner, as far as I can tell Confused

AnaisB · 12/05/2012 12:08

I'm not that interested in her size and Confused about the idea that we need members of the royal family to set a good example about body size.

Imnotbatman · 12/05/2012 12:09

really skinny shot in case people worried about links

MmeLindor. · 12/05/2012 12:09

SparkyDuchess
Is that you, Kate?

Tee2072 · 12/05/2012 12:10

That's a good point Trills. UK sizes are definitely not uniform across the shops and, in my experience, US sizes are.

This is why I don't worry about what size I am. I just try stuff on and buy it if it fits!

Goldenbear · 12/05/2012 12:11

There are health problems that arise from being too thin though.

I'm too put off by her hooker's eye make-up to worry about her weight.

nizlopi · 12/05/2012 12:18

Ha, god yes, she cakes it on.

So classy.

PooPooInMyToes · 12/05/2012 12:18

Ouch alpine!
