To say that I think Kate Middleton looks like she has an eating disorder?

Umm skinny's not the word. Possibly and probably a size zero? Not natural/down to fast metabolism either as she used to be 'bigger'. That waist is thinner than my thigh by a long shot. Even DH said about it this morning and he's generally not interested in that sort of thing.

Don't understand why it hasn't even been mentioned in the press? I'm confident that any other celeb/person in the public eye would be questioned/accused of being anorexic.

I wonder what her BMI is? I would suggest dangerously low, NOT a good example IMO. However, gorgeous teal dress :)

Jajas I don't blame you. Some women are naturally thinner. Not everyone who is has an ED.

Follyfoot · 12/05/2012 10:05

If she stuffed cake until she was a bit less 'waif like' (to use your term) wouldnt she just be conforming to your ideal shape? Whats the difference.

She is the shape and size she is, its her body, thats fine.

ShutUpMeg · 12/05/2012 10:05

Oh for gods sake, if you're not a lard arse these days you're anorexic.

I get sick to death of people saying to me "you're too thin, you must never eat" - I'm 10 and a half stone and 5ft 10". I'm not fat, I'm not thin. So leave me alone!!

Kate Middleton is fine.

templenewsam · 12/05/2012 10:05

I agree she looks far too thin and as op said in the early days she was much larger. If she is indeed 5ft 10 and weighs 7.5 stone as suggested then imo that is dangerously underweight!
I doubt I'll loose any sleep over it though
Smile

Psammead · 12/05/2012 10:05

I think she looks better right now than she did a couple of months ago. Her position must be very stressful. Having to look good at every single party, no mistakes etc. No wonder she lost a lot of weight at first.

I think she's looking more comfortable now, and healthy.

DukeHumfrey · 12/05/2012 10:06

She is very thin, but she's also quite broad-shouldered, so that makes her waist look smaller in comparison.

She looks healthy and I don't envy her having millions of people commenting about her looks all the time. They could say lots worse things about me

PineappleBed · 12/05/2012 10:06

She's definitely lost weight but that's what the public eye does - so much pressure! Don't think calling her names on the Internet is nice though.

I feel quite sorry for her, her husband is away, her sister seems to have been banished after the gun thing, she can't do anything without the palace's say so and people even pap her when she's just taking her dog for a walk. Must feel like being stalked whilst under house arrest.

She's so pretty and looks like good fun, I hope the palace let her have sone friends and not just spend her time inside on her own or out with prince Charles!

Spice17 · 12/05/2012 10:06

Sorry, I really didn't expect it to cause such a stir. Morloth - bit harsh, wasn't suggesting anything by mentioning DH just that it was a male opinion along with my own.

Feel like going and blaming him now as he started me off but he's giving me a lift into town later, so better not!

squeaky - PW does have large hands actually, he's a tall man.

She's damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. I bet if she put on 2 pounds women all over the land would be pointing it out. Anyway, yes, she's very slender, but looks athletic and fine with it. Her arms and legs aren't smaller than her joints for example.

Why do we have to be so relentless about judging the looks of women in the public eye? It's pathetic.

CadleCrap · 12/05/2012 10:09

5"10 and 7 1/2stone!!!
My left leg weighs more than that!!

Northernlurker · 12/05/2012 10:10

My cousin's wife has a very similar shape to Kate. She is 8 months pregnant. We are all different shapes and commenting on them is generally a) unhelpful and b) rude.

scarlettsmummy2 · 12/05/2012 10:12

I think she looks very thin too- and not in a good way.

gnomeland · 12/05/2012 10:12

What is this teal dress of which you speak?

fatherchewylouis · 12/05/2012 10:12

I think she looks lovely. I would be surprised if she is 5 10 and 7 stone especially as what there is of her looks relatively muscular (legs in particular) but I'm usually crap at judging these things and tbh, her weight is none of our business

MaargeritaPracatan · 12/05/2012 10:14

I thought she looked a little on the slim side when I saw the pics in the teal dress, but I certainly wouldn't say she looks bored, she, quite rightly, looks like the cat that got the cream & is enjoying every last drop!

usualsuspect · 12/05/2012 10:16

I was skinnier than KM when I had my children

Northernlurker · 12/05/2012 10:17

kate in dress

I love the dress and the hair, so pretty

LemonTurd · 12/05/2012 10:20

Using the expression 'meat on the bones' to refer to a woman's body is revolting.

AmberLeaf · 12/05/2012 10:21

I really like KM.

But if she is 5' 10" and 7 1/2 stone then yes she is dangerously underweight.

Where did the idea that she's 7 1/2 stone come from?

squeakytoy · 12/05/2012 10:21

Is it heck..its just an old fashioned saying. All my grandparents used that phrase. I am northern and it is certainly a very inoffensive phrase where I come from.

Angry I am 5' 6" and weigh between 7.5 and 8 stone. According to BMI charts and other ideal weight guides I am clinically underweight.

I eat healthily and decent amounts. I also eat (far too much) chocolate. It doesn't matter what I eat I do not put on weight.

I have two children, so it obviously does not impact on my fertility. My husband loves my shape and is attracted to women who are 'straight up and down'.

I have always been this thin. I was also relentlessly bullied at school over it. Ridiculed and accused of being anorexic. It is a good job I was pretty confident otherwise the incessant bullying could have actually led to an eating disorder or other self-harm

OP You are are as bad as those bullies, but as an adult, you should know better.

Oh - and saying that you would stuff cake to put on weight is suggestive of an eating disorder and unhealthy relationship with food too you know. If you were really desperate to put weight on, the correct way would be a high protein, low carb healthy diet, not stuffing your face with junk!

Angry Angry Angry Angry

Debeez · 12/05/2012 10:23

She seems a lovely, humble person. I think she's bloody beautiful.

"Don't understand why it hasn't even been mentioned in the press? I'm confident that any other celeb/person in the public eye would be questioned/accused of being anorexic."

And anyone who puts on a pound has "BALLOONED". The press is awful. But the press love her. Be glad that they're leaving her alone. What it says on the scales are between Kate and her bathroom mirror.

Agree with previous poster shutupmeg if you're not overweight you're not eating in some people's eyes. Wouldn't say lardarse ;) but some people are naturally skinny and don't appreciate it being pointed out. You wouldn't walk up to a woman and say "Put a few pounds on! Are you comfort eating/binging/skipping the gym!"

eurochick · 12/05/2012 10:23

I think she looks a little too slim but I have no idea whether she has an eating disorder. I think she would look rather better if she put on half a stone or so. She looked nicer in her university pics where she was carrying a few extra pounds.

ffnorm · 12/05/2012 10:24

If she is 7 1/2 stone and 5 10 then she has a BMI of 15.5 which is exceptionally low... Not saying she has an ED but does point out the stress of her role

Love the teal dress!!!
