To say that I think Kate Middleton looks like she has an eating disorder?

Umm skinny's not the word. Possibly and probably a size zero? Not natural/down to fast metabolism either as she used to be 'bigger'. That waist is thinner than my thigh by a long shot. Even DH said about it this morning and he's generally not interested in that sort of thing.

Don't understand why it hasn't even been mentioned in the press? I'm confident that any other celeb/person in the public eye would be questioned/accused of being anorexic.

I wonder what her BMI is? I would suggest dangerously low, NOT a good example IMO. However, gorgeous teal dress :)

jajas Grin. I was joking!

thatisall · 15/05/2012 12:55

I thought she looked very thin in her blue engagement dress, then I saw her mother and sister who are also very slender. She's got good genes!!

not everyone who is thin is ill.

valiumredhead · 15/05/2012 12:59

BUT the mother wasn't that slender until recently when she dieted. not everyone who is thin is ill but all this naturally thin stuff is hilarious - she is obviously very active and watches what she eats extremely carefully

thatisall · 15/05/2012 13:03

I couldn't physically get that thin...I could lose fat, but my bones would still be in the way Smile

but like I said not all thin people are ill, Im sure she does exercise a lot and watch what she eats very carefully, so would I if I were under this much scrutiny

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 15/05/2012 13:11

But being very active IS natural! And we're not supposed to consumer as many calories as we have grown used to.

It's sitting at a desk all day and constantly having very large meals which is UNnatural, if we're talking about nature.

BigBoPeep · 15/05/2012 13:16

I love her, but I do think she is looking a bit tooooo thin, and she never used to look that way. To me, she does seem to be bordering on the gaunt side now, and I really hope that's her choice and down to being 'active' as has been said, rather than 8amssive* pressure to be 'slim' :(

sieglinde · 15/05/2012 13:35

I think in her position nothing could be more utterly normal and inescapable than some pressure to maintain the currently fashionable body weight, and this - the fashionable weight - is IMHO too thin in that only a minority of people can actually maintain it without misery or undue effort. Some women can, and they have posted here, but many more really can't, and there is something a BIT disordered about trying, or being urged to try.

There is actually such a thing as a subclinical eating disorder - not bulimia or anorexia, but what has been called orthorexia, and it's absolutely epidemic in her social class.

What IMHO this is about is the way in which the poor woman is judged in terms of her body - also her ability to get pregnant, ack. Does anyone know or care if Wills has gained weight or lost weight? The answer is no; hence the sadness.

valiumredhead · 15/05/2012 13:42

I was just impressed with Wills getting hi knob out in 'that' photo Grin

There was plenty of talk about Wills' bald patch and the fact he was looking like his dad though.

valiumredhead · 15/05/2012 13:43

his

sieglinde · 15/05/2012 13:50

Well, I don't think anyone has been asking about whether Kate's hair is thinner, either. Grin I guess though we're all perhaps thinking of Diana's fate... somehow Charles's bald spot didn't seem to save her from the pressure she clearly felt.

squoosh · 15/05/2012 13:52

Will should shave that bloody fluff off his head, it would like a thousand times better. He probably needs royal consent or something though.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 15/05/2012 13:53

Remember his lovely shiny hair?

He'd look much better if he razored the lot off though.

FateLovesTheFearless · 15/05/2012 13:59

Why do people always start throwing round accusations of eating disorders when someone is slim?! I had it throughout my school years, letters home to my parents from school and the nickname skeletor! I ate like a horse but was very hyperactive hence slim.

I am now 4 children down the line, 5ft 5 And just under eight stone. I still get people asking me 'what's my secret' oh I don't know, maybe some people are just slim?! I only know my weight because I donate blood. I will have to work hard to put on weight to donate at the end of this month. 4 kids, single parent, busy active life.

In Kate's case she will be just under the healthy bmi range so yes she should try to put on a bit. It's just not always that easy!

valiumredhead · 15/05/2012 14:03

Why do people always start throwing round accusations of eating disorders when someone is slim?

Because Kate has lost a lot of weight recently.

Goldenbear · 15/05/2012 14:17

I'm impressed that anyone can afford to, 'eat like a horse' anymore! We spend about 100 pounds in food a week in our household and no one is eating like a horse!

molly3478 · 15/05/2012 14:20

surely you can eat like a horse for cheap? Everyone does round here Iceland is the place for it Grin

FateLovesTheFearless · 15/05/2012 14:23

I was a child then goldenbear, where I say ate like a horse (parents expression) Smile

bunnyspoiler · 15/05/2012 14:44

I know a lot of people who claim to be 'naturally' thin. They don't eat very much. Claims of feeling full after a glass of juice, etc. And they all know to the pound what they weigh (just saying).
I know a few whom I believe to be naturally underweight, on edge, always on the go, 'live off their nerves' types. To be honest they don't eat much either but the diet isn't as restricted.
I fall into the camp of becoming fat if I eat too much and thin if I don't. Usually edge towards a bit of a pork as I get irritated by fussy eaters and obsessive weight watching so tend to rebel.

PickledFanjoCat · 15/05/2012 14:46

I feel for Wills. You cant be King with a No 1 yet he needs to do it!

bunnyspoiler · 15/05/2012 15:00

He so needs a no 1- you are right. rolling with the Jason Statham look as opposed to 'Uncle Edward', who has looked late middle aged since he was 20!

sieglinde · 15/05/2012 15:12

um, guys, what is a No 1?

squoosh · 15/05/2012 15:17

A number 1 is the tightest poss hair cut i.e. shaved.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 15/05/2012 15:22

Can you imagine him with a Jase? Phwoargh!

LucyGoose · 15/05/2012 15:24

Everyone going on about her weight so I have to point out its her hair that drives me batty!

Its a tad too long, she is constantly fussing with it and it always seems to get blown around. In every picture, you see her hand up by her ear, pushing her hair back and she always looks so nervous.

valiumredhead · 15/05/2012 15:25

Her hair is fine but her eyeliner is another matter!

I am SO glad I'm not in the public eye Wink
