To say that I think Kate Middleton looks like she has an eating disorder?

Umm skinny's not the word. Possibly and probably a size zero? Not natural/down to fast metabolism either as she used to be 'bigger'. That waist is thinner than my thigh by a long shot. Even DH said about it this morning and he's generally not interested in that sort of thing.

Don't understand why it hasn't even been mentioned in the press? I'm confident that any other celeb/person in the public eye would be questioned/accused of being anorexic.

I wonder what her BMI is? I would suggest dangerously low, NOT a good example IMO. However, gorgeous teal dress :)

OP posts:
AmberLeaf · 12/05/2012 10:24

That dress is gorgeous.

MaargeritaPracatan · 12/05/2012 10:25

'Meat on the bones' is revolting? Blimey, some people just look for things to be offended by.

tittytittyhanghang · 12/05/2012 10:25

I haven't seen any pictures but I going by this thread, if she is indeed 5'10 and 7.5 stone then I would have thought she was underweight. Im 5'9 and was a size 10 at 10.5 stone. Going down to 7.5 stone Im sure I would have been nearer a size 4/6 (I think that is the US size 0) and I would have looked gaunt im sure. Had KM been about 5'5 or thereabouts then 7.5 stone wouldn't seem that bad but 5'10 and 7.5 stone, had it been anyone else then they would have been critized.

LemonTurd · 12/05/2012 10:27

Do you speak for all Northerners, Sqeakytoy Wink

Just because an expression is old-fashioned doesn't mean it's not revolting.

Morloth · 12/05/2012 10:30

I don't know if she has an eating disorder yet, but I am sure if enough people keep on at her she will probably self destruct quite nicely and that will of course make excellent copy and everyone can shake their heads and say 'poor' girl.

gnomeland · 12/05/2012 10:31

Lovely dress Envy

Surely an eating disorder has nothing to do with weight but mental health. Lots of bulimic people are a 'healthy weight'.

But when you have threads like this it all becomes a vicious circle doesn't it. Minute criticism of her appearance and terrible pressure.

Noone gives a shit whether she says or does anything in particular -just her BMI Confused

ohdoone · 12/05/2012 10:32

I wasn't aware Kate had weighed herself and released the amount to the press, ffs noone knows how much she weighs. As for saying she looks like she has an eating diaorder, how unpleasant can you get? You don't choose to have an ED, they are mental illnesses that show themselves in a physical way and KILL. Would you look at someone and say oh she looks like she has cancer? No. You don't choose either. Can someone please explain why its ok to make a statement such as the op's? I assume its ignorance. Isn't it about time that women, instead of being bitchy about each other embraced the fact that we come in different shapes and sizes and refused to buy into to this weight obsessed culture?

squeakytoy · 12/05/2012 10:33

If you are naturally very slim, then that is your natural frame, but in the last few years Kate has definately lost more weight than what appeared to be her normal weight. There are photos of her from 5 years ago, and she had a lot more bust, and was by no means overweight then.

If she is underweight through lack of eating, and the pressure of being in the public eye, then it is possible that it will affect her fertility. My DIL is incredibly slim, she looks dreadful though, her hair is dry and lank, her skin is pale and her eyes are dull.

Get0rfMoiLand · 12/05/2012 10:33

I think she looks absolutely fine - she looks very fit and healthy. I assume you don't know anyone with eating disorders OP and know how deeply unhealthy and ill some of them actually look.

She is naturally very small framed - what makes her look so skinny is the fact she has very narrow hips - no amount of dieting can achieve that, it's her bones. Her mother and sister appear to have the same frame.

Yes she was slightly bigger a few years ago, but I certainly don't think she is unnaturally thin at all. Some of you talk bollocks.

difficultpickle · 12/05/2012 10:34

I would say she is definitely underweight for her height and is thinnner now than she was for her wedding (which she appeared to lose a lot of weight for). She doesn't look healthy to me and if she really is 7.5 that would explain why.

Morloth · 12/05/2012 10:34

Hah, I was harsh? And yet I am not the one starting conversations on the internet speculating as to a persons mental health based purely on some photographs.

TheMonster · 12/05/2012 10:35

I think she looks awful.

(not really. I'm just jealous)

Get0rfMoiLand · 12/05/2012 10:36

Why is the 7.5 stone thing taken as gospel? Someone up thread just said 'apparently she is 7 and a half stone' and some of the rest of you have run with it. Do you really think that her weight would be in the public domain?

gnomeland · 12/05/2012 10:37

I reckon Pippa probably sneaked it to the press Wink

bumbleymummy · 12/05/2012 10:37

I think she looks stunning in that teal dress and anyone who says otherwise is just jealous!

People's perceptions of what is a healthy weight have been completely skewed by the fact that there are so many overweight people around these days. Kate looks fine to me.

revolutionconfirmed · 12/05/2012 10:38

Threads like this are awful. Kate is beautiful and slim but she doesn't seem unhealthy and seems very, very happy. Questioning her mental health is horrible. So you don't like the way she looks? Her husband does and I'm sure she does too.

Bunbaker · 12/05/2012 10:40

In this pictur she looks slim, not skinny. I have just asked OH and he also thinks she looks slim, not skinny.

OP I think you are just jealous and I think your remarks are personal and catty. MIL always calls slim people skinny because she is slightly overweight and thinks it is a compliment to be called skinny. It isn't. I think it is just as rude as being called fat.

insancerre · 12/05/2012 10:41

When i got pregnant I didn't even weigh 7 stone. I was a very thin but healthy 22 year old. I certainly didn't have an eating disorder, I used to eat more than DH. DS was 81b 6oz and I only weighed just under 9 stone at 9 months.
Some people are just naturally thin.

MrsBovary · 12/05/2012 10:41

She looks very slim, but fine. Love the teal dress.

RandomAdams · 12/05/2012 10:41

This thread reminded me of "Are thin women the enemy".

yes, she is thin, and a part of me envies her; but should it matter? It is a tough one. It seems a shame to focus on body sizes rather than, say, her ambassadorial work foe the UK.

RandomAdams · 12/05/2012 10:41

For not foe ...

fatlazymummy · 12/05/2012 10:42

I think she has a lovely figure. I really don't understand why some people think she is underweight. Perhaps because being 'overweight' is more normal nowadays?
Plus I would think she weighs much more than 71/2 stones. I used to weigh that at 5'4'' and I looked quite thin even at that shorter height.

She does look skinny but I would imagine her lifestyle is a contributory factor, considering she has definitely lost weight.

It looks a relentlessly dull life but I don't feel sorry for her unless she was lliving on a different planet her whole life she must have been aware of what marriage to one of the most famous members of the royal family would entail!

I don't agree that she is naturally thin because her weight has changed dramatically! There are very few people that are naturally thin according to a 'Horizon' programme that was aired a couple of years ago. It's nearly always lifestyle choices. With KM, yes she has always been slim but isn't that a lot to do with 'upbringing', I doubt they frequented KFC regularly or had a Friday night takeaway as a family! Expensive food, made from scratch is usually pretty healthy!
