To say that I think Kate Middleton looks like she has an eating disorder?

Umm skinny's not the word. Possibly and probably a size zero? Not natural/down to fast metabolism either as she used to be 'bigger'. That waist is thinner than my thigh by a long shot. Even DH said about it this morning and he's generally not interested in that sort of thing.

Don't understand why it hasn't even been mentioned in the press? I'm confident that any other celeb/person in the public eye would be questioned/accused of being anorexic.

I wonder what her BMI is? I would suggest dangerously low, NOT a good example IMO. However, gorgeous teal dress :)

OP posts:

Actually this is annoying me a bit now because people are different frames and have different metabolisms and the fact is that some people are naturally thinner than others. She undoubtedly eats very healthily and works out some and would no doubt not be so lean without doing so but eating healthily and exercising is the healthy option!

Goldenbear · 12/05/2012 11:00

Yes people have different metabolic rates but it is very rare to have the metabolism that allows you to eat anything, do nothing and stay very thin! She has lost a lot of weight, suggesting she is not one of those people- I really wouldn't be able to say if she has an ED!

sparkle12mar08 · 12/05/2012 11:02

She may be very, very thin (though I think she looks better now than at her wedding when I thought she looked gaunt), but she is far from anorexic. Anyway I can't imagine she gives a stuff what we think...

insancerre · 12/05/2012 11:04

There are very few people that are naturally thin according to a 'Horizon' programme that was aired a couple of years ago
ok, so thin people are just fat people who don't eat properly
See, I always thought it was the other way round. Fat people are just thin normal sized people who eat too much
Expensive food, made from scratch is usually pretty healthy! unless it's loaded with butter, cream, salt etc

fatherchewylouis · 12/05/2012 11:06

Golden bear, don't think you read my post properly. I didn't say she is that size by eating what she wants. I specifically says she must eat healthily and exercise regularly but some people can eat what they want and be relatively thin / not overweight at all and if those people eat very well and exercise it will leave them looking very lean.

Bunbaker · 12/05/2012 11:07

"but it is very rare to have the metabolism that allows you to eat anything, do nothing and stay very thin!"

I am one of those people Smile.

That said, my metabolism has slowed down in recent years and my appetite has accordingly.

zadigeist · 12/05/2012 11:08

She looks beautiful. Yes she is very thin but I can imagine she is under a lot of stress/pressure and that does affect some people's weight.
As for used to be bigger, I was a 14 in my teens/early 20s and now easily maintain an 8-10 with much less effort than I used to put in when I was younger. It's weird but some of us are like that.

Get0rfMoiLand · 12/05/2012 11:09

I have always wanted to be one of those people who loses tonnes of weight when I am stressed (like Jilly Cooper heroines).

Unfortunately I am of the eat a bowl of mashed potato, mainline doritos persuasion. Sad

Trills · 12/05/2012 11:10

Jilly Cooper heroines forget to eat and just have gin out of teacups.

Is that because there weren't Doritos in the 70s?

Get0rfMoiLand · 12/05/2012 11:12

Tory Lovell ate cornflakes with double cream in the] 70s.

I ahave always wanted to try that. Grin

Frontpaw · 12/05/2012 11:12

I am sure she has family around her who will tell her if she is dieting too much (if she is).

She is quite slim and looks like she has lost weight. Change of lifestyle maybe? I doubt if she pops off for a sunday lunch and a couple of pints at the local carvery much these days.

I used to be that skinny in my 20s amd early 30s and ate like a horse on steroids.

Trills · 12/05/2012 11:13

I'll rephrase in a way that does not break the Talk Guidelines.

OP you are saying nasty and unwarranted things.

YABU to think you can judge if someone has an eating disorder from the small amount you have seen of Kate Middleton.

YA also BU to, if you really think someone has an eating disorder, post about it in such a horrible way.

If someone has an eating disorder they deserve our sympathy, not comments on whether your husband finds them attractive.

Get0rfMoiLand · 12/05/2012 11:16

There seems to be some kind of joyful spectre at the feast behaviour about suspecting KM has an eating disorder.

I am sure that if it was revealed that she had a problem, there would be certain people who would triumphantly announce 'see, we all said she was too thin'.

Get0rfMoiLand · 12/05/2012 11:17

As an aside, I wonder why we all still call her Kate Middleton?

Did Princess Diana still get called Lady Di after she was married?

HowardnHilda · 12/05/2012 11:17

I'm as thin as her . I can out eat everyone I know. I'm slim because I'm super fit and healthy.

God, I really hate how it's okay to suggest slim people have an eating disorder but the second you mention someone looking fat and suggesting they stop stuffing the pies all hell is let loose.

In my experience, the only people ever bothered about slim people are those who are overweight themselves.

Kate is extremely toned and very fit. She looks fab. She looks how humans are meant to look but we are so used to most people being flabby and overwight that the biological norm has shifted.

nizlopi · 12/05/2012 11:17

She looks awful, so so skinny, and she isn't naturally like that, that is bullshit. She has always been slender, but since getting engaged to William she's turned into skeletor.

I'm surprised at William, whose mother was bullimic, is not telling her fucking eat something.

PooPooInMyToes · 12/05/2012 11:18

That dress is so stunning! So jealous!

Trills · 12/05/2012 11:19

I think it's because we don't know what name to use for her now.

"The Duchess of Cambridge" is too long and too formal
No-one uses Princess Catherine (is she even officially that?)
Kate... What?

Kate Wales
Kate Windsor

What last name is on her bank account now?

She's a modern woman, maybe she still is Kate Middleton.

Goldenbear · 12/05/2012 11:20

No Insancerre, thin people are thin because of certain conditions, healthyish food, exercise enough to stay at a healthy weight but they're not as it were, unconditionally thin - this is very, very rare, say 1 or 2 % of the population. As I said previously, people who can eat anything and do nothing, I suppose what people refer to as naturally skinny! What is hard to understand about that??

Re lavish food, if you can spend lots of money on food you can either have it cooked for you, therefore removing yourself from the temptations in the kitchen or you can buy good lean cuts of meat, fresh fish, limit unnecessary carbs that the rest of us have to pad family meals out with. Again, hope I've explained fully!!

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 12/05/2012 11:22

YABU.

I'm fed up of fat people telling thin people they must have an eating disorder. Fuck me, it's tedious.

Hopefullyrecovering · 12/05/2012 11:22

Where has the idea come from that she is 7.5 stone? It's clearly a complete myth.

If she is indeed 5' 10" (my height) then at 7.5 stone she would look like a wraith. I am 8 stone 10 and I am underweight and my elbows are bigger than my arms, knees bigger than calves etc. And I do not have an eating disorder and it is horrible trying to put weight on.

That poor woman. She looks lovely, she is clearly not underweight. Stop peddling myths and hurtful nonsense, you lot Angry

PooPooInMyToes · 12/05/2012 11:23

So if you have naturally skinny, is there naturally fat?

Trills · 12/05/2012 11:25

I think "naturally fat" would translate as "finds it harder than other people to maintain a healthy weight".

BogeyNights · 12/05/2012 11:25

I think she looks wonderful, healthy and happy. Leave her alone.

And with regards to having babies; lots of overweight women and underweight women conceive with ease, as do lots of women with healthy BMIs. Victoria Beckham is constantly caned for her weight and yet she's had 4 kids...

MmeLindor. · 12/05/2012 11:26

"We know she is, but NOT that slim, we've seen her shape change dramatically in the year before her wedding so we know that it isn't her natural shape."

Errr, excuse me? WE know that isn't her natural shape?

How do we know that, and what is a natural shape? Is your natural shape how you look when you eat a pie a day? Or when you eat everything you want (which would please me cause then I would now be at my natural state and I could stop worrying about my weight).

She is slightly thinner than she was before, but she looks healthy and gorgeous.

Some of the posts on this thread are a disgrace.
