To say that I think Kate Middleton looks like she has an eating disorder?

Umm skinny's not the word. Possibly and probably a size zero? Not natural/down to fast metabolism either as she used to be 'bigger'. That waist is thinner than my thigh by a long shot. Even DH said about it this morning and he's generally not interested in that sort of thing.

Don't understand why it hasn't even been mentioned in the press? I'm confident that any other celeb/person in the public eye would be questioned/accused of being anorexic.

I wonder what her BMI is? I would suggest dangerously low, NOT a good example IMO. However, gorgeous teal dress :)

She has Chelsea girl hair, they don't have extentions like Towie girls.

noddyholder · 14/05/2012 16:24

It is her real hair

BalloonSlayer · 14/05/2012 16:26

I think it looks too natural to be hair extensions.

Don't forget she has almost all the time in the world to get it blow dried to within an inch of its life.

That dress at that Polo match though! My eyes, my eyes! That's the ugliest dress I've ever seen. My Auntie Glad would laugh in your face if you asked her to wear it.

Re her weight, I think she has always been slim and athletic, but now she is in the public eye and having her photo taken alongside movie and sports stars, she wants to look as good as they do. Which, in her view, means getting super slim and super athletic. And I think there is a chance she may have overdone it, in my opinion.

However, eating disorders are severe psychiatric illnesses. I think that saying that someone who has let a successful diet and exercise programme bring them to the skinny side of their ideal weight is anorexic, is like saying that someone who is desperately sad because their Dad has died is suffering from chronic depression.

squoosh · 14/05/2012 16:26

She has lovely hair that has been helped along with extensions.

MrsJREwing · 14/05/2012 16:28

Walk around Chelsea and the surrounding area and you will find girl after girl who wears long boots to the knee, skinny dark jeans, blouse or nice dress, they have long straight hair, no fringe, no extentions, they are nicely groomed, a little makeup, not ott, they all have a very similar look.

squoosh · 14/05/2012 16:29

I hate the black suede knee boot thing those type of girls favour.

And as for the nude tights............ Protect my eyes from the horror!

diddl · 14/05/2012 16:47

I´ve never thought that she has extensions either.

irishchic · 14/05/2012 17:16

Goldenbear it may not be natural for you, but that's just your own experience. The fact that when I was doing no exercise at all and eating as much cake and sweet stuff and drinking wine and still remaining 9 and a half stone (bar pregnancy) means that that weight was probably a natural weight for me, and I was still pretty skinny looking at that weight.

What one person sees as skinny another person would see as just slim, people have very different perceptions of this. My MIL thinks that anyone who is a size 12 or under is too slim, and I have hears her describe a woman who lost weight recently and who is 5ft 7 and a healthy size 12 as anorexic!

Goldenbear · 14/05/2012 17:25

It's not my own experience it's fact regarding what is scientifically described as 'naturally skinny'.

In your own case (from what you've said) you walk for an hour 5 times a week that will have a very positive affect on your metabolism allowing you to eat a lot, but it is a lifestyle choice that is having an influence in your weight. Now you've suddenly changed tune in defence of your natural skinny idea.

Everyone of course has a natural weight they gravitate towards but that is not the same thing as naturally skinny. I wouldn't say anyone who is 9.5 stone is skinny with in relation to what I'm talking about.

winkle2 · 14/05/2012 17:38

I don't think she's naturally this thin. Doesn't she do the dukan diet?

fatlazymummy · 14/05/2012 17:42

Walking for 5 hours per week isn't really a lifestyle choice. It's a perfectly normal activity. What isn't normal [although it seems to be nowadays] is driving everywhere, doing a sedentary job and not really doing anything physical at all, to the extent that people actually have to add exercise in order to maintain a healthy weight.

Goldenbear · 14/05/2012 17:51

That's a different argument entirely. Whether it should be or shouldn't have to be it STILL is a choice, no one forces you to walk! So how is it not a choice? Most people would be able to remain slim with this level of activity! Naturally skinny is someone who wouldn't even have to do this- it is very rare for a Human to have that level of metabolism. EFFORTLESSLY thin!

She's not naturally slim. None of her older photos show her as being particularly slim. She looked healthy and outdoors type. Now she looks as if a strong wind would knock her over. I suppose there must be so much pressure to look perfect.

kirsty2008 · 14/05/2012 20:37

love kate middleton, think she's lovely but yes too thin, not dangerously so but needs to put a bit on.

Wish she'd hurry up and get pregnant though! She and Wills are such a lovely couple and would make great parents :)

Yes. She was bigger then than she is now, which I find odd as usually most people put on weight from their late teens.

She was definitely quite a lot heavier then than she is now. No question. She was slim then but not skinny.

irishchic · 14/05/2012 22:25

Goldenbear
"It's not my own experience it's fact regarding what is scientifically described as 'naturally skinny".

Where is this scientific description which you mention above? Can you link to any research which comes up with a definition of "naturally skinny?"

Actually can you cite any references to support any of what you have claimed in this thread, you seem to write with such authority on the issue.

Beaaware · 14/05/2012 22:43

maybe she's riddled with ummmmm I cant say it

TheBigJessie · 14/05/2012 23:16

Somewhere inside, there's a deep, scathing post, just waiting to be written, but it's buried underneath all the vomit emoticons this site doesn't have yet.

Sorry for the disappointment, folks.

PickledFanjoCat · 14/05/2012 23:20

Leave Kate alone! The end.

Irishchic I have provided the link above which explains the point I was trying to make much better than me!

AlpinePony · 15/05/2012 08:48

Why on earth would they make "great parents"? Because they're rich and have reasonable genes? Confused
