To say that I think Kate Middleton looks like she has an eating disorder?

Umm skinny's not the word. Possibly and probably a size zero? Not natural/down to fast metabolism either as she used to be 'bigger'. That waist is thinner than my thigh by a long shot. Even DH said about it this morning and he's generally not interested in that sort of thing.

Don't understand why it hasn't even been mentioned in the press? I'm confident that any other celeb/person in the public eye would be questioned/accused of being anorexic.

I wonder what her BMI is? I would suggest dangerously low, NOT a good example IMO. However, gorgeous teal dress :)

I think KM has a lovely figure - toned and athletic. I envy her height. I keep myself trim, but I will never have her long toned legs because I am a shortie.

Anyone who thinks she is too thin is probably used to seeing people who are too fat. You do realise the west is in the grip of an obesity epidemic?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 13/05/2012 22:24

Jayelle that's not a very nice thing to say

Superstickybeak · 13/05/2012 22:29

Rather a xylophone bust than saggy, stretch marked tits dangling over a flabby belly ( vomits).

SophieNeveau · 13/05/2012 22:30

Ariel, that is the sort of thing a hypocrite would say.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 13/05/2012 22:38

I was trying to make the point that a skinny person would be criticised for saying something like that. As you have just proven.

SophieNeveau · 13/05/2012 22:45

Defending a Xyophone chest, by putting down a saggy tit? Hmm

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 13/05/2012 22:49

Oh for God's sake. I don't think those things! Let's see if I can make this sound simple - I was merely pointing out through the use of irony that skinny women with bony chests seem to be fair game for insults, whereas a thin woman knows that she could never make such disparaging comments about fatter women without attracting criticism. And you proved it nicely.

I would like to have a few more pounds and curves, but like Kate, my body shape is not made that way.

SophieNeveau · 13/05/2012 23:09

Oh for God's sake! Let's see if I can make this sound simple - You did make disparaging comments about saggy tits and fatter women! as did Superstickbeak

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 13/05/2012 23:15

You really are spoiling for an argument aren't you?

Perhaps you ought to look for one with some of the women who have made disparaging remarks about Kate Middleton's shape on this thread. Or are those remarks perfectly fine, because skinny women are fair game? And what do you call "awful xylophone chest" if it's not a "disparaging comment"? That's what my comment was referring to.

I'm trying to be patient here, but for the very last time - the remark was tongue in cheek.

SophieNeveau · 13/05/2012 23:35

I'm trying to be patient here, but for the very last time, you were rude about saggy tits!

Goldenbear · 13/05/2012 23:59

But KM's body shape is not 'made that way', she was bigger a few years back so she is not naturally thin- it is worked at.

As I pointed out earlier it is very, very rare to be one of life's can eat what I want and do nothing types - what some people perceive as naturally, effortlessly skinny is more down to lifestyle choices than they are even aware of. It's pretty odd that there are endless posters claiming that they're that 1- 2 % of the population. It Is like they're all mumsnet posters??

AlpinePony · 14/05/2012 05:24

I know for a fact that Ariel was taking the piss about "saggy tits" and as a beholder of the aforementioned saggy tits, I immediately got the point she was making.

anyway, she can't be a "fattist", some of her best friends shop in "short & fat"! ;)

Emmielu · 14/05/2012 05:45

I used to be just under 7 1/2st 5ft 6. I was under stress an awful lot & being told I'm dangerously underweight & that I need to eat properly didn't help since all I do is eat 3 meals a day plus snacks.

I'm now 9st. Not that you can tell an awful lot but my eating habit never changed. Maybe kate is under a lot of stress, pressure & missing her husband. Don't shoot her down when you don't know the reasons. How do you know if she has a high metabolism or not?

ithaka · 14/05/2012 08:37

Or maybe Kate likes her slim and athletic look? Why shouldn't she? I think she has a great figure.

snappysnappy · 14/05/2012 09:31

I doubt she has an eating disorder but I think she is becoming unattractively thin rather than slim.
She has a gym in her house/palace, has no children, very little freedom and no real job. I'd say she spends half the day working out and that is the result.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 14/05/2012 11:08

Goldenbear, how on earth do you know how Kate's body was made? I was considerably rounder at 22 than I am now - chubbier cheeks, rounder arms etc. As I hit my late twenties and thirties with no change to my diet and lifestyle except possibly eating fewer chips and drinking less Stella, I have become very much leaner. I can eat whatever I want and remain thin.

Believe it or not there are people like that. How do you know Kate isn't one of them? You don't.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 14/05/2012 11:09

PS, thanks Alps. I knew you would have the sense to get it :)

noddyholder · 14/05/2012 11:11

She is skinny loads of people are what is the big deal?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 14/05/2012 11:12

noddy that's the most sensible thing I have seen on this thread.

ItsAPublicForumWhine · 14/05/2012 11:13

I think she looks great, like.

I also doubt she cares what I think!

MarysBeard · 14/05/2012 11:22

I think she is too thin for her height/build - I would say being in the public eye so much she has become overly concerned with her weight, probably is very controlled about what she eats and works out a lot.

TheBigJessie · 14/05/2012 11:59

I think that young Catherine and William are very glad they held off getting married as long as they did!

noddyholder · 14/05/2012 12:00

What about people who are too fat for their height? I suppose they are curvy real women Grin

monkeymoma · 14/05/2012 12:14

yup, bit too thin and you look "painful" and obviously have a mental health disorder
bit too big and you're a sexy curvy real woman!

TheBigJessie · 14/05/2012 12:23

Damn right!
