yada yada yada. I've seen the debates on here on fresh over frozen. I get that. But who the rubbery-fuck buys tinned veg??

Was strolling around the Co-Op today and clocked a a shelf of tinned peas/carrots/potatos.

Who the fuck would eat tinned peas?? The colour is so very wrong. I can't begin to imagine what the texture is like

I buy the Green Giant tinned corn sometimes. It's nice to add on the side of a baked potato and salad for quickie lunch.

lolajane2009 · 28/04/2012 20:05

i did as a student as it was easy to store in dorms

mistressploppy · 28/04/2012 20:06

Old ladies and people with nuclear bunkers

mistressploppy · 28/04/2012 20:06

Liking 'rubbery-fuck' btw

eosmum · 28/04/2012 20:06

I get tinned peas for DH, can't even bear the smell of them myself. He even loves tinned mushy peas. Can't think why tinned potatoes though.

ExcitedElectrons · 28/04/2012 20:06

Why? What exactly is wrong with tinned veg? [Hmm]

We buy mushy peas (bleugh! but dh love um)
Oh and tinned new potatoes. I tend to chuck them a curry at the end, extra filling and cheap as chips :)

WaitingForMe · 28/04/2012 20:07

People who lived through the war? People with no taste?

My ex loved tinned marrowfat peas. The smell alone made me gag. When I was away he'd get a takeaway and eat it with a side of tinned peas. He also liked school dinners and complained my pastry wasn't soggy enough.

Biscuit
ExcitedElectrons · 28/04/2012 20:07
Hmm
TooManyOddSocks · 28/04/2012 20:07

Dh buys tins of marrowfat peas

rubyslippers · 28/04/2012 20:07

Tinned peas are a weird but nice addition to potato salad

Tinned sweet corn is a staple in our house and hearts of palm for salads

sallymonella · 28/04/2012 20:08

Love tinned sweetcorn and DH loves tinned mushy peas, but that's as far as it goes. Must say that I've thought the same thing myself about tinned mushrooms... But I suppose they might be ok in a pie?

toofattorun · 28/04/2012 20:08

Green Giant tinned corn is lovely. Wouldn't buy any other tinned fruit/veg - YUK!!

DeepPurple · 28/04/2012 20:08

FIL will only eat tinned veg and my mum brought me up on tinned veg Envy vom

Tinned sweetcorn is quite nice but carrots are just mush.

catinboots · 28/04/2012 20:08

Aww, what's with the biscuits and hmm-faces? Hmm?

squeakytoy · 28/04/2012 20:08

I used tinned veg for emergencies when we want a quick meal in minutes.

I also prefer tinned sweetcorn, and cut green beans to frozen.

Tinned potatoes are useful for making a quick potato salad too

greyhairsahead · 28/04/2012 20:09

My mum. She doesn't really like fresh veg, the strange woman.
I buy tinned sweet corn though, it's yum! Smile

TheOneWithTheHair · 28/04/2012 20:09

We buy tinned sweetcorn.

FashionEaster · 28/04/2012 20:09

I do. Tinned sweetcorn, tomatoes, assorted bean types and even occasionally tinned potatoes if I need to rustle up a meal superfast for the dcs.

Agree though about tinned peas and carrots, they are not nice.

TheOneWithTheHair · 28/04/2012 20:09

Ooh and tinned chick peas.

pantaloons · 28/04/2012 20:09

I might accidentally put tinned carrots in a casserole if I foolishly forgot to do anything for tea with the deforsted chicken breasts until erm 4.30. (Carrots are an ok store cupboard thing to throw into chicken chasseur or similar.) Grin

catinboots · 28/04/2012 20:09

Tinned new pots for curry -n ever thought of that! And I am a lazy cook!!
