It is possible that women in this day and age can:

mow the lawn
have theur very own email address
drive when their hubby [bleurgh] is in the car
fill the car with petrol
sleep in the house without hubby being there.

I know you're ickle and cute and pwecious, but, ffs, man up.

Are you talking about someone in particular? I don't know anyone personally who'd have a problem with any of that, I presume it's not all that widespread?

AnyFucker · 27/03/2012 11:33

I know some women like that

They do my head in too (diagnosed anxiety disorders notwithstanding)

Pandemoniaa · 27/03/2012 11:34

I've come to the conclusion that some women play the helpless ickle fluffy girlie in a quite calculated manner. It makes my blood absolutely boil (and my slapping hand tingle) but it is an undoubtedly cunning ploy - and a very controlling one at that.

Pascha · 27/03/2012 11:36

I refuse to mow the lawn because its a bumpy tree-rooty large bastard. Everything else I agree on.

only4tonight · 27/03/2012 11:36

Or women who "share" their husbands (tried hubby but couldn't press send like that) Facebook. Ffs you are a whole person in your own right you know.

Catsmamma · 27/03/2012 11:38

i do not mow the lawn or fill my car

I CAN, but I choose not to, it's such a waste of my time. :P

NarkedPuffin · 27/03/2012 11:38

They do my head in too (diagnosed anxiety disorders notwithstanding)

I love you Grin

TheLastHappyHop · 27/03/2012 11:39

Do you really know women who don't do those things? Kinda pathetic, if so.

I do have a particular set of things that I "don't do", which require height and/or muscular strength (I'm tiny). I probably could physically achieve them with a lot of time and effort, but if I did so, they would instantly become "my job". But all the things that you list are perfectly straightforward.

startail · 27/03/2012 11:40

Oh dear, I'll have to claim my wussyness badgeBlush

Our lawn is huge, our petrol mower is equally huge, ancient and temperamental. I confess to MN that in 14 years I have never used it.

I tend not to drive if with DH because, he is better at parking and I am happy to pull the passages seat forwards to make room for tall teen DD1.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 27/03/2012 11:40

As far as I'm aware there's no disorders AF, I would, of course, never have my rantypanties on around those that did.

There seem to be a few around here Floggingmolly, exactly how Pandem descrubes, with a little girly laugh and a toss of the hair, as the desribe how their hubbies do stuff as they are so feak and weeble.

I dont know ANY women who cant/dont do those things
Who ARE they?!

In fact, 6 yo dd mows the lawn and puts petrol in the car!

Mumsyblouse · 27/03/2012 11:40

One of the biggest problems I see is with older ladies who've not learnt to drive because their husband does, but then as they age, the husband can't drive around anymore and they are effectively trapped in the house, or always waiting around for their husbands to take them somewhere very simple. Perhaps this is worse in a rural area, not everyone in the city needs a car, but I think it massively restricts you (it may not when you are younger and hop on and off public transport, but if you move location/get older).

Pandemoniaa · 27/03/2012 11:40

I don't mow my own lawn either. But I don't go all icklewickle about it. I pay a bloke that does gardening to do it.

It's not so much about precise tasks, it's the general attitude I object to with allegedly helpless women.

ChaoticAngel · 27/03/2012 11:41

I do mow the patch of grass (can't call it a lawn) in front of my house. The other day I even cut some "trees" down. I don't have a car, then again I don't have a husband either so I get the bed all to myself every night Grin

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 27/03/2012 11:41

Wussy women annoy me too. thise that won't drive anywhere unknown, or in the dark etc.

But I don't think it's wussy to get your fella to do the driving if he is there, or to get him to fill up the petrol, or mow the lawn, or take out the rubbish. I think that's just resourceful.

LucyManga · 27/03/2012 11:42

I dont know many women like this

I know a few men who 'can't' use their own washing machine, struggle to change a nappy and make a big deal out of 'babysitting' their own kids.

WorraLiberty · 27/03/2012 11:42

I don't know anyone like that but I do know a few who refuse to empty the bins or change a tyre on the car cos it's 'Man's work'.

On the other hand, if their Husband's dared to call housework 'Women's work'...they'd shit a kitten with rage.

TheFarSide · 27/03/2012 11:42

YANBU

Agree with Pandemoniaa some women use their helplessness to control.

In my previous job, there were women who thought only big strong men could lift things, and a women who got out of a lot of things because "I'm six months pregnant".

I have bigger muscles than many men (bodypump) and I always lift my own photocopying paper.

exexpat · 27/03/2012 11:42

Well, I have to do all those things since I am widowed, but luckily I was used to doing it all before DH died. Well, OK, I didn't mow the lawn because we didn't have one, and I rarely filled up with petrol since we lived somewhere with full-service petrol stations - but I never thought I was incapable of doing either of those things. I just don't understand the mindset of someone wanting to or letting themself become so dependent.

NarkedPuffin · 27/03/2012 11:43

Your trees or just random arborial vandalism?

ToriaPumpkin · 27/03/2012 11:44

I have never mowed a lawn. Ever. But that's because I grew up on a farm and then moved in with DH who seems to like it so I leave him to it. I would do it if it were required though, and I do all the rest even if I do sometimes forget how to open the fuel cap on the car.

And I rarely drive when DH is in the car, but that's because he PISSES ME OFF sitting mashing buttons and pressing the imaginary brake so I'd rather sleep while he drives and catch up from my sleepless nights :)

worzelswife · 27/03/2012 11:44

'In fact, 6 yo dd mows the lawn and puts petrol in the car!'

Sounds like your dd will grow up to be v independent, but isn't it illegal for a child to fill a car with petrol Confused. Certainly on a forecourt.

GeekCool · 27/03/2012 11:44

DH drives mostly with us in the car, but that's cause he is a wuss bag and gets sick in the passenger seat. He's also really tall so space is an issue.

I can sleep without him in the house - although recent events in our street have left me feeling a bit :/ about him being away this weekend. It's more the bed feels weird with him not in it.

However, I believe I am far from a wussy woman.

It's the 'I'm such a princess and little girl' types I can't stand.

lukeiamyourmother · 27/03/2012 11:45

I do know women who won't those things. They have to be walked everywhere like to the bus stop or home for the evening so they are safe, while other stronger women are happy to split a cab fare among them.

I was out with one girl who called her DP to demand he come collect her from the train station because there were murderers out there, then turned to me after the call and said, are you ok to get the bus? we need to be up early.

AnyFucker · 27/03/2012 11:45

I don't mow the lawn because I am lazy and it's bloody hard work, not because I can't Smile
