To think slippers are for old people?

I am 47. When I was younger no-one wore slippers once they were no longer kids. Suddenly in the last 5 years all my friends have slippers. Some of them even bring them when they visit friends so as be "more comfortable". FFS thats what my gran did when she is in her 70's and 80's!

Both DP and I are united on this. Slippers are for old people. We are not old and so thus will NOT have slippers.

So AIBU

(And I am being serious. Both DP and I do think this).

I can't go to someones house though and keep my shoes on. I have to take them off regardless of whether they want me to or not. I can't relax unless i'm shoeless/slipperless although socks are compulsory in winter.

Why is it thought that slippers are just for old people? That's a bit ageist. Everyone I know wears them because It is too cold not to where I live. In summer I have bare feet or flipflops, but in cold weather even a pair of thick socks aren't warm enough on our wooden floors.

When I was in my 20s and 30s I used to wear slippers. Now I'm (whisper) 50, I wear (indoor) mules round the house.
As long as it's something to keep my feet off the floor, doesn't really matter what they are.

And garlic, we got one of those sheepskin electric blankets for Christmas and it is absolutely bloody brilliant. Wish I had done it years ago.

I am 32 - I have always worn slippers, I love them - my current pair are pink and sparkly fluffy boots! We have a tiled floor in the kitchen/diner so it can get really cold.

I also take my slippers to friends houses and I really don't care if people think thats weird, better than wearing shoes on their carpets. My friends bring their slippers to mine too, I have new carpets so no one really wears shoes.

For our house warming I held a pyjama party so everyone HAD to wear slippers.

I thought everyone wore them to be honest!

I wear slippers (I'm 30) and have done since being married to DH who has always worn them! I don't wear them in the warmer weather though, as I like my feet to air. I do take them with me on holidays etc and have a pair at my inlaws

Yes, you are.
Everyone in my family wears them in Winter as the floors are cold.
If it's really warm, we substitute flip flops.
Nice to not get into bed with black feet every night!
Only on holidays where it's very hot do we ditch them altogether.

YABU! I'm 25 and when I'm at home ALWAYS have my slippers on! I have summer ones too!

Dp also wears slippers, he is 30 and he wears old man slippers! You know the suede ones from m&s!
