Excuse me if its been done to death....probably has as its a puke inducing term and I can't be the only revolted individual???

It's cringey, that's true, but I guess the words encapsulate how much they hold their child dear to them. I'd rather hear a father refer to his daughter as a princess than 'shut that fucker up'

PoultryInMotion · 28/02/2012 15:45

Better than the delightful father I've just seen in Asda who (in genuinley affectionate tones) called his DD (approx 2) a 'little bitch' Shock

GlitterySkulls · 28/02/2012 15:45

it's better than bastard or shithead.

i know what i'd rather hear.

sensuallettuce · 28/02/2012 15:45

Better than a mum I knew from kids school who used to refer to her (5 yr old) daughter as a "sexy bitch" Hmm

sneezecakesmum · 28/02/2012 15:46

There is a middle way!!!

It's hideous.

An ex-friend of mine actually had a go at me for not calling DD princess. Her DD is constantly called Princess, and oh boy, does she behave like one!

Apparently by not calling DD Princess, I have irreparably damaged her self esteem. Poor child. Hmm

fuzzpig · 28/02/2012 15:50

An ex-friend of mine actually had a go at me for not calling DD princess

That is freaking weird. WTF.

I don't like it either, agree it is better than other words but no I don't like it at all.

blushingcrow · 28/02/2012 15:51

It doesn't bother me , I called mine all sorts of weird and wonderful names when they were little.

Fecklessdizzy · 28/02/2012 15:51

Chez Feckless we call everyone thingy irrespective of race, creed or colour ...

sneezecakesmum · 28/02/2012 15:53

Its the height of chavism and Soooo Jordanish.

Confused Actually I like jordan and think she is a fab mother, its all the boobs and botox that irritate me.

Or Poppet ( said in a slow menacing way accompanied by evil grin ) as we all watch far too many pirate films ... Grin

catgirl1976 · 28/02/2012 15:54

DS is "The Boy"....Prince is pukey (and makes me think of the artist fomerly known as)

OnlyWantsOne · 28/02/2012 15:55

Every one is squidge or thing in my house. The only princess is DP Grin

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 28/02/2012 16:01

My two DCs are munchkins. My mum called me munchkin when i was little. actually she still does I'm just carrying on the tradition Grin

I don't like prince/princess. Don't know why though.

controlpantsandgladrags · 28/02/2012 16:04

There was a little girl in sainsburys with her mum today whose name was actually Princess. A la Katie Price/Jordan. I had a little snigger behind my hand and hoped the mum didn't notice.

sensuallettuce · 28/02/2012 16:04

Jordan is a fab mother - really?! Hmm

Somersaults · 28/02/2012 16:04

I call DD princess sometimes. I never thought I would but it just comes out of my mouth occasionally. Not sure I'd ever have called a son Prince though.

sneezecakesmum · 28/02/2012 16:04

Any reasonable name used in an individual and endearing way to LOs is acceptable (mine was betsycoo) but this army of mock royalty is beyond me.

OP posts:
sausagesandmarmelade · 28/02/2012 16:05

Nauseated? Really?

I couldn't care less what other people refer to their kids as....why would I?

sneezecakesmum · 28/02/2012 16:06

Jordan fights tooth and nail for her disabled son harvey, so in that respect I admire her immensely for not hiding him away and being ashamed of him.

TheBigJessie · 28/02/2012 16:07

I prefer to use nauseatingly unique "family" nicknames so that only mine turns around.

Princess is too normal.

Wink
OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 28/02/2012 16:08

Oh its fine.
Its people being affectionate.
wtf is wrong with that?

Why would you be so upset that you felt sick?

Much weirdness if you ask me.

Quenelle · 28/02/2012 16:08

My son is The Boy too.

I hate Sweetie as much as Princess.

mumsachocoholic · 28/02/2012 16:09

I call my dd princess occasionally and she likes it. dont see why you should be nauseated by it rally.

mumsachocoholic · 28/02/2012 16:09

*really even.
