I'm biting my lip as I write this, but I've got balls so I'll go ahead and admit it:

I called my ex 'cuddybunny' and i call my bf 'baba'

I call the dog 'puppup' and the cat (whose name is 'Soutis') is 'doodie'

My SIL calls her DS2 'buddybear'

blushingcrow · 28/02/2012 16:38

I know a lovely lady called Princess shes nothing like Jorden tbh

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 28/02/2012 16:39

Meh. I can't say YANBU for finding it nauseating, because people find all kinds of things nauseating. I find it a bit odd to have such a violent reaction though. Perhaps you're a sensitive flower, OP.

I don't have a dd, but I'm sure I'd call her "princess" here and there. ds gets called "tiger" among other things. I'd end that with a "poor sod" but it doesn't seem to bother him. I have a feeling I called him "little man" when he was small too.

MamaMaiasaura · 28/02/2012 16:39

Parp

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 28/02/2012 16:39

I meant I'm sure I'd call her "princess" here and there if I had a dd

Voidka · 28/02/2012 16:39

My DD is princess - I couldnt give even the tiniest of shits what other people think.

As for other celebrities revealing their children are Autistic (such as Paul Scholes and Melanie Sykes), maybe they didnt feel the need to broadcast it to the whole world before?

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 28/02/2012 16:40

I find the use of the word chavvy nauseating.

ThePathanKhansWitch · 28/02/2012 16:42

Fook OP, your easily nauseated. I couldn't give a gold-plated shite, what other people call their kids. Although i'd prefer to hear Princess/Prince as an alternative to you little bastard/fucker.

Yabu.

"Uber chavvy" FFS Hmm

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 28/02/2012 16:42

Oh lord yes, MrsDeVere. It's vile. The term says a great deal about the person using it though, so it can be useful Wink

CaoNiMa · 28/02/2012 16:42

Sneezecakes, you have some dire opinions. But you'll no doubt be quick to remind us that you're "entitled to them".

ThePathanKhansWitch · 28/02/2012 16:43

X-post MrsD. Smile.

blushingcrow · 28/02/2012 16:43

Anyone who uses the term chavvy is a bit thick

sneezecakesmum · 28/02/2012 16:46

Just off to put my princess in her pink outfit so she can play with her pink toy laptop....not!

Hmm
Popoozle · 28/02/2012 16:50

Speaking as someone who calls their DS a name from In The Night Garden, I really can't comment Grin.

Except to say that I would also much rather hear "princess" or "poppet" than "ger ere now yer shit". Who wouldn't?

Actually, thinking about it - I find it more vomit-inducing to hear people calling their DCs "darling" in place of a real name than "princess".

AmberLeaf · 28/02/2012 16:50

Raises my hand too-so do I

AmberLeaf · 28/02/2012 16:51

...and I couldnt give a flying fook what anyone else calls their child really...although 'little man' tends to grate a tad.

PosiePumblechook · 28/02/2012 16:52

I prefer to see people beating their kids.

fhdl34 · 28/02/2012 16:52

boomerwang my DH is also baba and he calls me the same (amongst other pet names).

ThePathanKhansWitch · 28/02/2012 16:52

My dd went to nursery in a "Disney" Princess satin ballgown.

Quick, call Social Services.I have obviously damaged the child for life....not!

Voidka · 28/02/2012 16:55

DD is having a princess and pirates birthday party - her tiara came today and she thinks its the best thing since sliced bread

So there!

MissPenteuth · 28/02/2012 16:56

My DD is going through a "princess" phase atm. I'm as far from pink and girly as you can get but she's loving dresses, bags, jewellery and sparkly things right now. So I've been calling her "princess" from time to time, along with other pet names I use. I don't see the harm in it. I wouldn't foist pink and fluffy on her just because she's a girl, but if that's what she likes, then .

I think I know what you mean, OP, about the automatic "princessification" of little girls, the "Daddy's little princess" T-shirts and similar, or the assumption that all girls' toys must be pink. But if parents' pet names for their DCs are a part of that, it's only a small part. So YABU, sorry.

GavisconJunkie · 28/02/2012 16:58

YANBU I think some people get away with it, but those with princessy kids to match do revolt me. Little horrors of the future! I got my parents to take back a 'princess' tshirt they bought dd.

I really despise the 'princess on board' signs for the car!

nobodyspecial · 28/02/2012 16:58

I've never called DD princess or my DS prince...but I don't have a problem with it, and don't see why it should nauseate you? It's not like they're calling you a princess.

It's better than "sweet pea" or "love"...so annoying.

Our DD is called different words that rhyme with her name and DS at the moment is called "Baby Man". DD named him that!
