What about *Sargent Sexy" for DH and "Little Emperor" for DS?
:o
Lovely.

Dalrymps · 28/02/2012 17:29

Ooh sayboo I've used little man, not sure why that is particularly cringey thoughHmm

Surely there are regional variations to the names we all use?

MrsKittyFane · 28/02/2012 17:30

Oh Gawd, and the people who actually call their DC "sexy".

Hmm

She had leukemia.
Sadly she didnt get better.

This thread is bizarre.

Voidka · 28/02/2012 17:33

I dont know how you jump from being called princess to spoilt?

My DS is called Chicken. I have always called him that. I dont expect him to grow up into poultry.

MrsKittyFane · 28/02/2012 17:34

Oh MrsD I'm so sorry.

The OP wouldn't have known :(

sneezecakesmum · 28/02/2012 17:35

I am deeply sorry for your loss mrsdevere. there is truly nothing more sad than the loss of a child. I can't imagine the pain.
xx

I also think that the OP has an odd name for someone calling parents who call their DD's princess.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 28/02/2012 17:39

All pet names make somebody, somewhere cringe and/or throw up. You're not unreasonable to feel sick about it but you're unreasonable to ever impose your irrelevant thoughts on somebody who uses such a term.

Why so judgey over a name? Bonkers! Confused

YankNCock · 28/02/2012 17:42

DH and I both seem to call DS 'buddy'. So much so that our childminder's son (also 2) has starting calling him by his first name with 'buddy' tacked on the end. Really no idea why/how it started.

He's also called 'The Boy' or 'monkey'.

Ecgwynn · 28/02/2012 17:49

My DH and I hate the 'Princess' thing. He calls me Queen. Why would you want to be a Princess when you can be a big powerful Queen? In my mind being a princess is about being cute and pretty and vacuous , which I am not!

Off with your heads.

TheSinglePringle · 28/02/2012 17:49

My son gets called 'Fatboy, Fatbum, Smelly and Poo Face'. I don't care what people call their kids tbh.

TheSinglePringle · 28/02/2012 17:51

From friends he is known as Mowgli, Bambi and Biggie. His aunt calls him Brimble and Luigi.

He hears his real name now and again though. Im sure some of this names will not be to peoples likings but fuck it

fuzzpig · 28/02/2012 18:00

I always thought I'd hate Little Man, but DH called him that when he was born as he was a huge baby (MW joked we should get him school uniform instead of a babygro Hmm) and it stuck for a while.

DD was 2.2 and couldn't speak very clearly - she pronounced it "wee-wool nam" so that soon took over, DS is 2.5 now and I still call him wee-wool nam sometimes :o

onelittlefish · 28/02/2012 18:08

Personally I find prince and princess squeamish. However, it does not stop me calling DS1 and 2 sweeties almost all the time. I can't help it - but to me they are the sweetest children in the world (I know I am biased).

takingiteasy · 28/02/2012 18:18

My son is gorgeous though, so I will call him that! I've told him it's important to love yourself!

He also gets -

Soilder
Dude
Champ
Pal
Buddy
Buster

And occasionally, I even use his real name.

bea · 28/02/2012 18:26

That is soo weird.. i thought it was only us who called ds1 'the boy'

all 3 dc's are also called chiddlers too... re: the bfg

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 28/02/2012 18:45

Of course the op wouldnt have known.
That wasnt the point of my post.

The point is that people call their children nicknames for all kinds of reasons.
Calling a child princess and dressing her in pink does not make a her into a spoilt chav.

Its a ridiculous notion.

I can understand the 'AIBU to hate it when people call their children sexy' threads. Even though they can be a bit OTT.

But to feel sick when someone calls their child an endearing name and then going on to say that it will turn them into spoilt brats.. WTAF is that all about?

Bonkers.

GrittersWifeAndProud · 28/02/2012 18:54

I know someone who calls her daughter her 'gorgeous little woman'. The girl is 2 Hmm

PosiePumblechook · 28/02/2012 19:16

MrsD....spot on.

Mrsjay · 28/02/2012 19:18

I hate it princess although as others have said its better than somethings you hear I have a friend who has twincesses Hmm

ImOnABreak · 28/02/2012 19:23

I had an ex who called me princess in a deep northern voice and actually I liked it.

Dd2 calls herself a princess so we have to as well. We also have to call her teddy, princess teddy.

Ds sometimes calls himself prince xxx or xxx the knight.

I call my dc all manner of nonsense from squidgy bum to princess and all sorts in between, mostly as terms of endearment sometimes to save face when I get their names muddled .

Couldn't give a monkeys what others call their dc as long as it's not negative.

marriedinwhite · 28/02/2012 19:31

Over the years ds has been: baby man, scum bum, brains, idiot boy, and latterly hunk features and snogger. dd has been: babykins, mouseling, angel baby, perfect child, whinge box and latterly with too much make-up on "slut features". They also have real names and a few other nick names that would out us. Occasionally, in a very low moment and with a touch of humour, they have been called a pair of little shit bags. They have also thrown that one back in my face when I have told them off for swearing!

Would much rather hear a child called a prince or princess than referred to as something abusive.

Psammead · 28/02/2012 19:32

Can I just grab MrsDeVere at this point and give her a stonking great snog?

With tongues?

Agree 100% with everything she said.

My DD is princess, pickle, sweetheart, sweetpea, pumpkin, love, lovey, stinky, miss mop, sugarplum, monkeymonks and a million more. I pushed her out of my fango and I'll call her what I please so screw you.

She is not spoilt, or brattish, she's quite tomboyish if anything, but she is loved and cherished and I let her know that in every way possible, including with 'nauseating' pet names.

And also, MrsDV, so very very sorry for your loss.
