To think that anyone who thinks that any of the tattoos they have look nice?

I totally understand that people can think that the tattoos they have are meaningful to them personally (i.e names of children, references to deceased relatives/friends or meaningful pictures/symbols that represent importnant points in their lives etc) but if they think that they look outwardly nice to other people then I'm sorry but I have yet to see a nice tattoo and everyone I ever meet seems to agree.

They look uniformly godawful regardless of whether they're bufferlies, roses, fairies, swirls, Japanese lettering, names written in gothic font or pictures of Marilyn Monroe.

...because you and a couple of your mates don't like them, that no-one does, is BVU.

In the words of Dolly Parton, 'it costs a lot of money to look is cheap'. Grin

One sort of tattoo which currently seems to be very popular - although maybe it is already passé - is floral torsos. 'Lovely', ahem, on toned young bodies, but God help you if you ever get pregnant, let alone ever stop being a size 8.

I honestly cannot understand the naivety behind someone who would get something like this - unless you take an oath never to get pregnant and give birth, and go to boot camp to stay fit for the rest of your life, you will end up with a hugely visible, disfigured tattoo. Plus, they will be the epitome of naffness in another 5 years...

I would be mortified enough if I had a set if arse antlers poking up over my jeans every time I bent down, let alone one of these.

'...this cheap'!

My ex got a tattoo of my middle name on his chest after we split up as a way of proving he loved me. I didn't take him back... but he said he doesn't regret the tattoo. Luckily for him I have a nice middle name Grin
It might sound cliche but at the time it was spontaneous and passionate and we were so in love. That's what life's about, those crazy moments you'll never forget.

I am so intrigued by peoples tattoos, especially when they tell a story.

I haven't got one myself because I'm boring and reserved but maybe one day...

I was watching a Christina Perri video(Jar of Hearts) today and thought of this thread;

I think her tattoos look great; they really suit her and yes, I think they enhance her appearance

quirrelquarrel · 15/02/2012 21:05

It's like that awful black white faux-Gothic wallpaper which is very modern and cheap and trendy, swirly and sharp design. People think it looks impressive/arty. It doesn't.

bejeezus · 15/02/2012 21:09

In your opinion Grin

YABVU to think that all tattoos look awful to everyone. I've had lots of complements on mine over the years and have seen many that I've liked too. YANBU to think that all tattoos look awful to you, obviously.

samandi · 16/02/2012 06:37

Compliments even .... sigh.

YABU if you think you are looking outwardly nice to other people, your attitude makes you ugly op. none of your business how others choose to dress or adorn themselves, tattoos or not.
