To think that if you have a clock on the mantlepiece it needs to go in the middle?

Or am I being anal? My children say so. I don't think I am, but I need support from the MN jury. How could the clock go on one end? That would be wrong.

Right now it goes plant, photo frame, photo frame, CLOCK, photo frame, body sort of sculpture thing, flowers.

But clock in the middle. Yes?!

Flying fuckaroos?

Are they like those flying ducks that go up the wall. Now don't get me started on them !!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/02/2012 21:09

If you had those, you'd need 3 so that one could be in the middle......

OP posts:
TwoStepsBack · 06/02/2012 21:10

And evenly spaced ............

RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/02/2012 21:11

I think in some counties it is actually illegal to not have the clock in the middle Rather. £60 on the spot fine and a pebbly shit ornament to put in it's place for 12 months. Banned from clock owning indefinitely. Wink

TrinityRhino · 06/02/2012 21:14

I would say that a mantlepiece with a clock in the middle or otherwise is icky anyway

I have a giant black train station type clock hung on the wall AND its radio controlled

no mantlepiece, dont want one

and ticking clocks are hideous

TwoStepsBack · 06/02/2012 21:15

Do you meet people under your clock Trinity? Wink

TrinityRhino · 06/02/2012 21:15

radio controlled clocks are the way to go

...doing the right thing... PFT bollocks Grin

TrinityRhino · 06/02/2012 21:16

lol only the kids after they have brushed teeth and hair for the 'before we leave for school check' Grin

my dad gave it to me, he took out its innards to make it radio controlled cause he knew I would love the look of it but love gadgety stuff

RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/02/2012 21:17

I have a huge clock like that in my kitchen, but I do have a mantelpiece and it needs sommat on it? So a clock in the middle. No?

at Sparkling, but checks all is in order so doesn't get fined with the pebbly shit....

TrinityRhino · 06/02/2012 21:19

you could have nothing on it at all..

or just no clock

what about those hideous delightful letters that spell shit out

you caould have H O T

or splash out and go for

D O N T S T I C K Y O U R H A N D I N T H E F I R E

but that would be a long fireplace Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/02/2012 21:29

Clock in middle, yes, but surely the flowers are too tall to go on the end???

wonderstuff · 06/02/2012 21:43

I told dh about this thread, I explained that a clock not in the middle would make everyone who came in feel unsettled surely - he said if he lived alone he would have the clock off centre because that would upset people. He goes around changing the clocks because he likes to see a clock, but not one that works (we have compromised on a functioning mantle clock IN THE MIDDLE) and a not telling the right time one in the dining room. Ishoos.

TrinityRhino · 06/02/2012 21:47

'would make everyone come in feel unsettled surely'

you have to be kidding right?

I'm not sure I would even notice there was a clock, let alone where it was positioned

TrinityRhino · 06/02/2012 21:48

a wrong time clock bugs the hell out of me though

MrsBovary · 06/02/2012 21:52

No, our mantel clock goes to the side. We have a display in the centre, which takes precedence, you see.

TrinityRhino · 06/02/2012 21:55

oooh whats your 'display'?

wonderstuff · 06/02/2012 21:57

Ticking clocks are horrid - people seem to put them in guest bedrooms ?
We have radio controlled clocks at school - one of them spins through 24 hours at 4.10 every afternoon.

TrinityRhino · 06/02/2012 21:58

lol wonderstuff, thats a bit weird

its a 'thing' in our house when the clocks change, we stay up to watch it lol
