To report DH's workmate for benefit fraud?

My DH has imparted some information to me which I now wish he hadn't because I now have some internal conflict issues going on.
He's worked with on and off with this guy (sub-contractors) for a couple of years and have become good friends. He lives with his girlfriend of 12 years and they have 3 kids, 11, 6 and 1. Last week DH tells me that his GF is on full lone parent benefits- they haven't declared that that they live together, and yet this bloke is on a decent (although not great) wage.
DH doesn't want to do anything because he's a friend. I feel I'm in a awkward position. Could you tell me what you would do in this position?

Unless someone was really living the life of riley I wouldn't grass a family man for getting a little more that they deserve. He'll have to pay it all back......the family will suffer. Is it worth it?

Stay on your perfect high horse and leave this family alone

Whos perfect? But society has to have rules and regulations and the control of crime is one of them otherwise we would have a lawless society and then it would descend into chaos. Like it or not this is a crime - so what other crimes should we turn a blind eye to then?

Report them.
Hundreds of thousands of honest Families live on one wage with 3 children, or they both work, and pay out childcare.

What makes them any different ?

Some people are just total piss takers and get what they deserve

What does your DH think? Have you told him you're thinking of reporting them?

MidnightWorry · 04/02/2012 09:34

I wouldnt report him, you dont know exactly whats going on and anyway if its true and its done for too long he will get caught.

The state some people can get themselves into about this really amazes me. Ive seen numerous threads about benefit cheats and scroungers and how they're responsible for the state of our country today. No, they're not. It's the bankers and politicians who are responsible.

Were the people on here who are outraged about this also self-righteously spouting about 'costs to the taxpayer' when The ConDems decided that they'd spend £34billion on a train line? What about bankers bonuses? What about the expenses scandal? What about the fact that it was the banks fault that we're in a double dip recession? What about our tax money that was used to bail out the banks?

If you're going to get all excited about how you're taxes are spent aim it at the right people instead of going all Daily Mail about it. Benefit fraud is a drop in the ocean compared to all of the above, and the tax evasion committed by the 1%

Sorry for spelling, iPhone errors ;-)

Only just seen this thread.

What have you decided OP?

Are you going to tell your DH what you're thinking of doing to his friend?

Just interested.
