I am still trying to pick my jaw off the floor...

When I was 5 months pregnant my DH got a brand new convertible mercedes kompressor ON CREDIT and then.....

... quit his job....

...without discussing with me.

Literally came home one day and said, I quit my job.

£460 PER MONTH.

I paid it for a while, a long with everything else (£4k pcm outgoings.... gee thanks). He hasnt had a job since (18 months). He's now bankrupt.

God sorry, massive digression! You can tell I'm not bitter about this!!!

Applemartini · 27/01/2012 20:48

Good luck OP. If he has bought it without paying cash on finance or something maybe there is a cooling off period.

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/01/2012 20:49

pushit, is he still your DH?

seb1 · 27/01/2012 20:49

He was at the petrol station buying her some nice flowers Grin Wink

ahhhhhpushit · 27/01/2012 20:49

ps - we got over it and are happily married Grin

Snorbs · 27/01/2012 20:49

Nice car but a) he's an utter selfish twat to spend that much money without discussing it first, and b) the insurance is likely to be eye-watering.

marriedinwhite · 27/01/2012 20:49

If he can afford it, I don't really see what the problem is. My DH once put £27k that we were going to pay off the mortgage on the stock market - I bit my tongue and six months later it was £76k!

Went to test drive a C4 Picasso about six months ago and bought it because I thought it was a good deal and then told him later. He was pleased.

warthog · 27/01/2012 20:49

he knows he's in for shit. what a clot.

ahhhhhpushit · 27/01/2012 20:50

xpost MrsTerry!

kitbit · 27/01/2012 20:51

Can he fit 3 car seats in it or is it a car he won't be taking the kids out in? Cos that is a different message altogether and he would definitely be sleeping in it!

Ask him how he is going to be contributing to the house renovations now. And when. And why did he think it was ok to take away your 'finished' family home without asking you.

I would be worse than angry I would be deeply hurt that he'd apparently cared so little about the implications Angry

thirdfromleft · 27/01/2012 20:52

MarriedinWhite

Can you ask him if he has any more stock tips to share with the nice MNers? Wink

QuintessentialyHollow · 27/01/2012 20:53

Does it come with a microwave and child catapult seats?

ThePathanKhansWitch · 27/01/2012 20:53

Open do we need to try and raise bail money for you? What have you done?

Stay away from the kitchen if an arguments brewing ffs.

ThePsychicSatsuma · 27/01/2012 20:54

we want NO knife throwing.....

FeedZombieEatSmartie · 27/01/2012 20:55

Ooh, I would be livid.

I would also go get a 30K loan from the bank, waste spend it all on clothes and say to DH "if you're allowed to spend 30K on looking good when you go out then so am I" and see how he felt.

Christ on a bike! I wish you luck.

ThePsychicSatsuma · 27/01/2012 20:55

...excepting comedy drunken butter-knife throwing, of course

newbabynewmum · 27/01/2012 20:55
MrsTerryPratchett · 27/01/2012 20:55

pushit, you are a better wife than I.

When is the OP coming back?

LittleMissSpeedy · 27/01/2012 20:56

First off - thank you for the best laugh I have had all week!!! (I know its no help to the OP but I had to say it) :)

Second - is DH still alive, agreed to surrender the car, managed to convince you its all ok or should I be turning on the 10pm news tonight?? Confused

ThePsychicSatsuma · 27/01/2012 20:57

do you think she's killed him? with a frying pan....

Amateurish · 27/01/2012 20:58

Nice car! And should be plenty of space in the back for the kids.

Look on the bright side?

ThePathanKhansWitch · 27/01/2012 21:02

Psychic i do, i'm worried.

marriedinwhite · 27/01/2012 21:02

BTW - at least your dc will like getting in it. Our dc refuse to travel in dh's GWiz - they say they would die from embarassment if their friends were to see them.

karatekimmi · 27/01/2012 21:03

Surely you'd run him over with the car!!! And reverse to check you'd done it properly!

rhondajean · 27/01/2012 21:03

Erm it sounds lovely ( though I have a thing about men with BMWs and not in a good way) but are there likely to be other implications, eg rise in road tax, insurance and petrol costs as well on top of spending the doing up the house money?
