Bloody stag dos

3 x weddings (so far) to attend this summer. 2 x stag dos. One wedding is child-free - tricky with a baby and toddler but hey ho.

DH has just asked if he can go on a stag do. Undecided city in Europe for a weekend. Every year there is at least one stag do abroad and it drives me mad. UK ones I can cope with - he can do one night or even two but it doesn't cost the price of a small holiday and take up valuable family time.

We go to a lot of weddings. DD (2 1/2) has been to 14.

AIBU to ask DH not to go? He will go to the other UK one, and to all the bloody weddings.

That's a bit aggressive I asked a question.

What are you bringing up her old history for?

AnyFucker · 20/01/2012 22:55

it's not her old history foglike

it's on this thread

as volunteered by the OP

try reading it again, fully

foglike · 20/01/2012 22:55

You're badgering her.

She did make her stance clear no?

LoopyLoopsHootyHoots · 20/01/2012 22:57

That's a very emotive summary AF. The facts of it are true, but replace 'pressuring' and 'fight off' with 'wanted to attend' and 'didn't want him to attend', and we have quite a different story, don't we?

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 20/01/2012 22:57

you are talking over her head foglike don't be so patronising

loopy can speak for herself

foglike · 20/01/2012 22:58

I think the OP was in mid thought and used the forum to clarify her thoughts.

She didn't expect someone to kick her DH metaphorical teeth in which was cruel and needless.

foglike · 20/01/2012 22:59

you are talking over her head foglike don't be so patronising

She said your aggressiveness wasn't welcome and your assertions were wrong.

Did you read that Anyfucker?

AnyFucker · 20/01/2012 23:00

ah, cross post with loopy

like susie said, what will he say when you make your feelings known about this one ?

foglike it was you that called me aggressive, not loopy

now perhaps, to be fair to loopy we should address her points, and not each others

LoopyLoopsHootyHoots · 20/01/2012 23:02

I was indeed trying to clarify my thoughts.

I now know that:

IANBU to ask him not to go
IANBU to find the idea of stag dos abroad selfish
IANBU to find the thought of pole dancers revolting
IANBU to think that pole dancers are , in fact, sex workers
AF isn't the judge of character I thought she was

But I still like you.

And many thanks foggy and others too. :)

AnyFucker · 20/01/2012 23:02

and nowhere has loopy said my presence wasn't welcome...stop speaking for her, it's rude

LoopyLoopsHootyHoots · 20/01/2012 23:03

Oh ffs smc, helpful as ever Hmm

I did call you aggressive ...because you were.

LoopyLoopsHootyHoots · 20/01/2012 23:03

In fact I asked for you to come back AF, most welcome :)

No problem loopy you sound lovely.

I brainstorm sometimes to get the right thought process through and it's agonising at times.

OldMacEIEIO · 20/01/2012 23:04

talking about aggressive, I have a friend who is a paramedic in the NW. Apparently Blackpool on a weekend can be worse than the the centre of Liverpool or Manchester.
probbly due to the loony stag and hen do's.
some of the trouble these people get into would make your hair curl

LoopyLoopsHootyHoots · 20/01/2012 23:04

swc sorry.

OP posts:
foglike · 20/01/2012 23:05

Point taken SWC it's late and I probably should have been in bed an hour ago.

AnyFucker · 20/01/2012 23:05

loopy, you are perfectly able to stand your own ground

now don't forget to apply that to your husband, ok ? Smile

foglike · 20/01/2012 23:06

Now that's good advice Anyfucker :)

LoopyLoopsHootyHoots · 20/01/2012 23:06

His stag dos (preferred ones) tend to include things like canoeing, camping and lots of booze. The thought of a night out on the town in Blackpool makes my toes curl! Can't bear to think what the residents of Eastern European cities popular with stag dos must think of it all. Bleurgh.

Ah, love you guys.

Friends again?

AF you'd better admit you can't possibly know if he's a twat. Or else.

OP posts:
foglike · 20/01/2012 23:09

To be friends again first you have to be an enemy and life is way too short for that.
