To think that people who moan on facebook about being delayed after someone has committed suicide under a train are insensitive twats?

One of my facebook friends has today written a moany status 'thanking' the 'idiot' who jumped under a train (am assuming he was delayed getting home because of this).

Some poor bastard has got to the a point so low in their life that they feel that the best thing they can do is end it all, and all some people can do is moan that they have been mildly inconvenienced getting home.

This isnt the first status I have seen like this either. Now granted, I am not a commuter so have not been in the position where I have been delayed on a train due to a track suicide, although I do know of a girl who ended her life under a train.

My FIL comitted suicide and some cunt had even posted photos on fb some time after.

Well suicide is a selfish act by definition. No one can help being annoyed at being inconvenienced whatever the cause.

Had to listen to people at work talking about this today. About how selfish they are. Erm, they are so low that they they want to kill themselves, they obviously aren't thinking straight.

These people have obviously never felt suicidal or had to deal with depression

Suicide is not a selfish ast, the person committing it is ill and not in a good place. More selfish is treating people who are ill or broken in such a negative way.

My best friend ended her life under a train. If anyone had DARED tell me how inconsiderate she was. I mean, for fucks sake. A family has lost a loved one, a mother has lost a child. I am so sorry you had to get a fecking bus home instead

It is selfish in that you think only of yourself and kill yourself. Commuters think only of their travel and are equally selfish. No one thinks about anyone else's circumstances, that is all.

As with everything, when you don't know the person involved it's easy to just see it in relatoon to yourself and those around you.

As you say, you are not a commuter - when I lived in London it happened all the time and you become blase about it. That's not nice but it's how it is.

What about the poor bloody train / tube drivers? Imagine how disturbing it would be to see someone hit the front of your train or go under it and know the train you were driving killed them! They often have to have months off work and some go back and have to do different jobs as driving gives them
flashbacks.

I understand that suicide is seen as a last resort for someone so desperately low that they see no other option than to take their own life. BUT to ruin someone else's life by taking your own in a way that is far more disturbing for them than just you no longer being alive (Im thinking like hanging yourself at home when you know your wife and two young children are due home and will be the ones to see and find you) is selfish.

scurry, people who are depressed enough to commit suicide are often of the belief their friends and families will be better off without them. They sadly feel they are being selfless by removing their burdensome self.

scurry it is NOT selfish! I was so close to suicide a couple of years back. I was so depressed that I thought killing myself was better for everyone else. Now I can look back and see that's noy true, but at the time...

I always hate the "suicide is selfish" comments. What is selfish is the disdain so many people hold for people with mental illnesses. Rather than judging, people should try understanding. RIP to the individual who died, and a belated RIP to Eva.

YANBU, I always, always feel for the poor soul who felt that this was their only way out. Then I think about the train driver. Then I go and get a McBurger and a trashy novel and settle down until I can get home.
