AIBU to not want friends to change nappies in my living room?

I have name changed for this as I don't want friends to recognise me and it's my first post in AIBU and I'm a wimp. Blush

About six months ago, we had about 10 friends round for dinner. One couple had a toddler. I was in the kitchen serving up and returned to the dining table in the living room with the food. The parents of the toddler were changing their nappy at the other end of the room and I must admit I blanched - there was poo everywhere and it stunk. The smell lasted through the first course and when they left, my DH and I both said how rude it was.

Last week we had a different set of friends round for a meal on boxing day and again, one set of parents had a toddler. When we finished our meal, the toddler announced he'd done a poo. The parents started changing the child on our carpet with no changing mat and leaving the rolled dirty nappy on our floor.

As this has happened with two different sets of parents, are we the uptight ones or is this gross? We have a perfectly functional bathroom.

(I promise I'm not the poo troll)

God I would NEVER do it in someone''s sitting room...let alone when we were about to eat! It's just awful. Ok...at home your standards can slip...but surely in someone elses home you are more careful? I remember someone telling me they changed their baby on their lap when they took a long haul flight...I pitied their neighbours!

YNBU. Your house your rules imo. What someone does in their home is another matter but what they do in yours is your concern.

I hate people changing nappies in the living room - I would always ask where to change nappies in someone else's house and silently seethe when people (Ok, my SILs) change nappies in the living room.

Also hate seeing potties in the living room - why would anyone do that? Yuk!

My MIL used to keep a potty in the kitchen for visiting grandchildren - yuk!

Potty in living room might be a temporary thing whilst potty training. Not asking where to change a nappy - yuk. The only kind of nappies I want changed in my living room are possibly ebf babies' ie don't smell of poo.

Oh-and I generally ask to change ds elsewhere even if host says he/she doesn't mind. Even I don't want to be in a room where he's just been changed Wink
