I can honestly say that I have never even contemplated using them (even though I have a permanent baby car seat in the back of my car) for when I have the odd DGC with me.

..........Until two days before Christmas. Was late for a lunch date with best friend and after driving round and round for about 20 minutes looking for a spot I came across one being vacated by a car with no children in it, only a young male driver.

I promptly drove into the spot and then realised it had a large red pram sign on it. I thought "stuff it" I'm staying here.

I'm fed up with never having anywhere to park. There's always...

Disabled Parking
Parents with Prams parking
Seniors Parking
1/3 hour 1/4 hour etc. parking

Where do I park. A perfectly functioning, working, not THAT old person?

Northernlurker · 29/12/2011 08:13

Wherever you park your child's safety remains your responsibility. Parent and child spaces are not there to make your child safer - because no responsible parent should be endangering their child in a car park in the first place. They are there to make life a little easier for some parents. What kind of daft as a brush person gets het up about this?

Coralanne · 29/12/2011 08:20

When my DD takes her DCs shopping, she doesn't particularly look for a "parents with prams" spot.

She takes the stroller out of the car. Assembles it, then takes the 2 year old out of her seat and straps her into the stroller.

Next comes the baby who is strapped into one of those things on DD's chest.

Next the 6 and 8 year old are unbuckled and they know that their hands are not to leave the car until everyone is ready to go.

Then the just turned 4 year old is unbuckled and she holds onto the stroller and off they go.

'A few years' and '8 or 9 years' ago are not the same thing at all Tumble8. Hmm

That's okay Sue - I suspect the namechange function still works for the revolving door newbies. Grin

dd got very cross with me on Christmas Eve because I wouldn't park in bays labelled parent and child. They didn't specify child age.

She is 15 and so, according to her, still a child.

Was she correct?

I believe she is absolutely correct. As my DM pointed out a few weeks ago, on driving in to a P&C spot 'I am the parent, you are the child, no age is specified'. The fact that she has a fucked up knee did not come into it.

Anyone wishing to induce a whole crowd of cats bum faces should head to Sainsbury's in Balham - it's a great one to play this game in. I have never ever played this game I have Wink

I am looking forward to the arrival of this new baby so I can test my theory that you can insert a small baby into its carseat through the window of a tightly parked car.

In fact it will probably be my first post partum outing.

Sparklingbrook · 29/12/2011 10:55

Morning all. What did I miss? Grin

RockStockAndTwoOpenBottles · 29/12/2011 10:56

Sparklin I think it was all very quiet.

kungfupannda has that baby not arrived yet Shock? Please report back with your findings once you've tested the window theory out.

SuePurblybilt · 29/12/2011 10:59

My DD is five but I posted her through the window the other day when my door lock stuck. Didn't need no fancy schmancy parking space to do it, neither.

Sparklingbrook · 29/12/2011 11:00

Slidey back doors-it's definitely the way to go. Smile

CarolCervix · 29/12/2011 11:06

YABU.

It's a fucking parkin space.

not a gold-plated-individually-owned-personalised-area, with title deeds and salmon fishing rights.

get over it.

in the grand scheme of things who the fuck cares whether you can get a bloody baby carrying seat in without having to stretch a bit.

Sparklingbrook · 29/12/2011 11:07

Morning Carol Grin

RockStockAndTwoOpenBottles · 29/12/2011 11:19

Yep, morning Carol

CarolCervix · 29/12/2011 11:22

and babies are like a foot long. why should you need an extra 3 feet of parking space? just lean in and pick it up, then put it in a pram or tirolly or buggy or something. my arse is bigger than the average baby.

or drive a normal sized car not one that is the size of a space shuttle. same goes for they buggy. bigger is not better.

CarolCervix · 29/12/2011 11:24

and why should having a bloody baby give you extra rights? IMHO people should be punished for breeding snotty nosed brats rather than given benefits and fucking rewards.

LadyBeagleEyes · 29/12/2011 11:24

I think Chaos should come back and apologise.
Just look at the trouble she's caused.
She was being very norty last night.
