I though the raspberry scented socks that I got were weird!

LineRunner · 26/12/2011 22:32

A fake ration book from my dad. He rang me up to ask if I remembered the real ones.

I am in my 40s.

LoopyLoopsHootyHoots · 26/12/2011 22:34

And what was that, Shiregirl?

ILoveSanta · 26/12/2011 22:36

A car air freshener from my IL......

PreHeatedOven · 26/12/2011 22:36

Oh mine looks really boring now!
Stainless steel very modern sharp cornered coasters.
We live in a listed old traditional cottage and have a toddler.
Just odd.

GreenIceAndChristmasHam · 26/12/2011 22:36

Nothing, they were all normal this year. Last year I got a rectangle of floral polyester from DH's gran which I couldn't fathom

'ooh lovely it's a umm.. ooh isn't it pretty, thats um? so nice'

It took me until March to find some handles and realise it was a fold up shopping bag

PreHeatedOven · 26/12/2011 22:37

Oh no shiregirl what was that?

coronet · 26/12/2011 22:37

A potato peeler - from dh. It's actually the second time he's bought me one.

It was a stocking-type present - he did also get me a tv.

midori1999 · 26/12/2011 22:38

My DH's step mother got us an airwick reed diffuser. My Mum got me a dog shaped windscreen cleaner. I never clean the car and she knows that.

ThePopsicleKat · 26/12/2011 22:39

An egg slicer and two packets of immodium.

(Not from the same person)

devonshiredumpling · 26/12/2011 22:39

greenice GrinGrinGrin

Chubfuddler · 26/12/2011 22:41

All normal here but about five years ago my brother bought Dh some salt.

Earlybird · 26/12/2011 22:46

A water pump which will be given in my name (evidently) to a poor rural community in Peru.

A variation on the Oxfam goat theme, methinks.....

Geordieminx · 26/12/2011 22:50

I am a bit addicted to those diffuser things miodori Blush I think there at least 6 in various locations around the house Hmm

calamityboo · 26/12/2011 22:51

Shiregirl, we are desperate to know what you got!

OP posts:
Soupqueen · 26/12/2011 22:57

A high visibility vest, in size xxxl (to be fair, that was 2 years ago but it was so weird I think it bears repeating. Nb. We have not yet exchanged presents this year with that side of the family so there could be weirdness to come.......)

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 26/12/2011 22:59

Popsicle if it is any consolation you have given dh and I an excellent (and slightly drunken) great laugh.

Please elaborate. Was it some sort of "in" joke?

CrystalQueen · 26/12/2011 23:00

just posted in the swap thread about the cardboard dress up Lady Gaga doll my DH got
ilovemel.me/j17/index.php/lady-gaga-doll

from my sister.

calamityboo · 26/12/2011 23:00

Keep us posted soapqueen!

FloraPost · 26/12/2011 23:01

Some pickled onions and a packet of tissues.

ViviPrudolf · 26/12/2011 23:06

devonshiredumpling, I got a balloon whisk too! to be fair, I did ask for it on account of it being a thing of beauty

And Soupqueen, DPs parents got him a high vis vest too one year! To add insult, he already had a couple in his boot from when he was working on site at the time Confused. The mind boggles.

My weirdest present this year was a Gary Barlow 2012 calendar, but I think it was Mr. Pru's idea of a funny.

devonshiredumpling · 26/12/2011 23:08

thing is that he got me one last year too [hmm}

devonshiredumpling · 26/12/2011 23:08
