Teaspoons! They do always go missing thought don't they, or is that just me?!

balroymum · 29/12/2011 22:28

Sorry! I don't have any missing 'thought's - I meant 'though.'

MustControlMincepieOfDeath · 29/12/2011 22:44

Boysboysboys Rollmops??? As in fish??? Xmas Shock

MustControlMincepieOfDeath · 29/12/2011 23:07

flyingspaghettimonster your Polish paper thing sounds like wycinanki - ''a type of art made from paper cutting. Traditional wycinanki cuttings include images of flowers, birds, hearts or deer''

droves · 30/12/2011 00:25

Can I add another one ?

Not me , but dd4 .

For Xmas this year dd4 was given nits ! ....discovered a lovely cluster of eggs on morning after boxing day Sad.

Unfortunately , the sender did not leave a gift tag with the nits , so can't return them as an unsuitable gift.

Dd has asd , so bone combing was fun fun fun !

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 30/12/2011 08:39

My MIL gave her son a box of extra long matches for our new log burner and she gave me a small wooden bar for suspending 2 shopping bags from to make carrying easier. That will go on the fire too

Funtimewincies · 30/12/2011 10:33

novelty bikini line patterns waxer Shock. As in, 'your muff isn't interesting enough for my son so tidy yourself up and while you're at it, trim it into pretty patterns' or am I misunderstanding (bloody hope so Confused!)?

Tiggygirl · 30/12/2011 11:45

Not me ,but both my teenage sons recieved a pair of eye colour changing contact lenses as a gift .Im sure they will come in handy one day !!!!

theITgirl · 30/12/2011 12:06

Apart from the Bonsai tree from the children but chosen by DH
Shower curtain - actually we needed a new one so quite pleased.

The absolute best is a shower head.
One that is supposed to be very water efficient !

We got home and since our shower head needed descaling we actually installed it.
It saves water by only allowing the tiniest trickle through. I actually had a full shower but DH swapped it back to the original halfway through his shower.

Also giver let slip it was half of a BOGOF offer so it was the extra they had when replacing their won shower head.

moondog · 30/12/2011 12:32

Iam, sounds like a yoke!
Is she passing on semi subliminal messages about what she thinks your role should be??

Glad I not the only one who gets just one weird prezzie from DH and not much else!

Thus year he got me a copy of the supposedly impossible to read book 'Finnegans wake' from EBay!!!!

To be fair I have often said I've wanted to read it for a laugh but...

My nanna always gets DH cotton hankies! Lol.

flyingspaghettimonster · 30/12/2011 18:47

Mincepie of death - yes! That is what I got. Lots of those, only not so pretty, stuck on old school lootracing paper and wtf am I meant to do with it? I just put it in the box with the Polish nativity made of foil sweet wrappers and the antimacassar made out of heavy lace doilie pattern in an ugly peach shade... I am still not sure what I was meant to do with that or if it even is an antimacassar... but it is so sweet that she sends me a gift every year even if it does make me puzzled every time.

MustControlMincepieOfDeath · 30/12/2011 19:32

flyingspaghettimonster pmsl at the Polish nativity made from sweet wrappers - was it like these?

Um, not sure what you're supposed to do with the wycinanki - use them as decorations I think, I'm sure your home would look lovely adorned with them Xmas Grin

miSaltireandwine · 30/12/2011 19:38

A 6 dvd boxed set of HMS Ark Royal

2kidsintow · 30/12/2011 20:43

My non-smoking, vegetarian OH was given a leather cigar box by his DM.

calamityboo · 30/12/2011 21:23

2kids that is just hilarious! Grin

My DMother bought me 2 gift vouchers one from a place called Hollywood Nails for $25 & another from a shopping mall massage place for $50. To be blunt I would rather eat my own arse than use either of these. If I were to write a list of places I would like vouchers from, neither of these places would even cross my mind. I think DM must have been smoking crack when she though of them!

She is well aware that I am pregnant with DC4, have no one to look after the kids apart from Dh who works away often, have never had my nails done and HATE having anyone touching my feet. If my nails get long I cut them with clippers fgs and never wear nail polish because I don't really like it!

I think I will try to get refunds or sell them to someone else!

Amazingly my DMIL who lives on the other side of the bought me fabulous presents which couldn't have been more perfect. A Kath Kidston sewing basket, 2 packets of Percy pigs and a range of lovely Elizabeth Arden 8 hr cream products.

Solo · 08/01/2012 02:20

A video of the 'History of the Routemaster.' he's been my ex for some time now funnily enough.

housemum · 08/01/2012 12:57

OK, back on this thread and it's not a Christmas but birthday present - DD3 received a Zhu Zhu pet puppy park set. She is very excited (so no chance of switching it, which she was happy to do for the one present she already had), I'm not as it means I have to buy a flipping puppy to go in it!! My friend who I love dearly is not the best at shopping, she obviously didn't spot the large "puppies not included" sign on the box. Am checking out eBay now for cheap puppies as they are about a tenner!

dottygirl1 · 08/01/2012 14:29

My DH bought me a Wok for valentines day. When he saw my devastation he tried to tell me that if wasnt just any old wok...it was a "Ken Hom" wok!!

That was about 14 years ago. He never made a mistake like that again!!!

MabelLucyAttwell · 08/01/2012 14:34

VivPrudolf

I didn't get a ballloon whisk as a present but I bought a nice one in Asda for 20p (end of range). Is yours plastic coated?

fuzzpig · 08/01/2012 14:50

Love this thread!

ViviPru · 08/01/2012 14:55

Its silicone coated, Mabel. Its tactile turquoise loveliness.

Yankeecandlequeen · 08/01/2012 15:23

We got chairbacks & those horrible lace things you put on the arms of chairs & sofas to stop them getting grubby.

I'd rather have grubby sofa than use them...fuck me they were dog ugly & went to the bin.
