To tell you all about my Christmas eve miracle?

My year has been totally shit, topped off by my DP cheating and being kicked out 6 months ago, my son had to go to special school, couldn't find him childcare so list my job (should be able to find one in new year that matches transport pick up/ drop off) so I'm totally alone this Christmas with DS (5) who has ASD and has never shown any understanding of Christmas. I was feeling so down I thought I'd give DS his presents in the morning, he'd open them and that would be it.

BUT

This morning I mumbled something to DS about someone coming tonight and he looked at me, eyes all lit up and said 'Father Christmas! Down the chimney!'
I have never been so happy in all my life. I bundled DS in the car to buy lots of Christmas booze, nibbles and chocolate last minute and he told everyone he passed in tesco 'father Christmas down the chimney, present!'

Now I am engaging in the big pre-Christmas day clean and am so looking forward to DS's first proper Christmas (that he understands)

I know I'm being totally unreasonable writing a post like this here but I'm so chuffed I couldn't care less!

hanaka my ds is 5 and asd too. Special school just have a nak of being able to teach our kids stuff we didn't think was possible. Ds keeps telling me 'HoHo chrimis, presents' and is just loving all the festive stuff on TV. Hope you both have a lovely Christmas, and remember the best bit about asd and christmas is our kids belive in santa for a lot longer so it keeps the magic alive.

hanaka88 · 24/12/2011 11:23

Thanks everyone. Yes I agree it was probably the school. They've made such a massive deal about it and had Santa in twice to visit the kids so that must be it. So chuffed

Sorry, just thought how about getting him a free video message from Father Christmas on portable North pole. www.portablenorthpole.tv/home.

You put in his name and some other info (and you can put in pics too if yu want)and you will get an instant video for him and best of all, costs nothing. Apologies if you know about it already. So very pleased for you and your lil man. Merry Xmas! xxx

hanaka88 · 24/12/2011 11:27

Thanks cpbp I did that for him a couple of weeks ago and he was completely uninterested. That's why I was convinced this would be another none understanding year.

Every time I open the door he says 'is father Christmas here?' so cute!
