My year has been totally shit, topped off by my DP cheating and being kicked out 6 months ago, my son had to go to special school, couldn't find him childcare so list my job (should be able to find one in new year that matches transport pick up/ drop off) so I'm totally alone this Christmas with DS (5) who has ASD and has never shown any understanding of Christmas. I was feeling so down I thought I'd give DS his presents in the morning, he'd open them and that would be it.

BUT

This morning I mumbled something to DS about someone coming tonight and he looked at me, eyes all lit up and said 'Father Christmas! Down the chimney!'
I have never been so happy in all my life. I bundled DS in the car to buy lots of Christmas booze, nibbles and chocolate last minute and he told everyone he passed in tesco 'father Christmas down the chimney, present!'

Now I am engaging in the big pre-Christmas day clean and am so looking forward to DS's first proper Christmas (that he understands)

I know I'm being totally unreasonable writing a post like this here but I'm so chuffed I couldn't care less!

I'm also alone with my ASD, thirteen year old. He doesn't talk at all and is visually impaired. I empathise with your home situation and understand a little at how joyous you must feel.
