AIBU to think he is a prize prat I don't care if he is trying to be funny and shocking he is just another reason why I never have and never will vote Tory.

Does Mr Clarkson have some product to shift for Christmas? Oh my word, I see that he does. How very surprising. Colour me amazed.

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2011 19:53

What dancingmustard said. Grin

t0lk13n · 01/12/2011 19:54

If all public sector workers didn`t buy his DVD because of his comments....would he be as smug then?!

MenopausalHaze · 01/12/2011 19:56

I'm sure he said it to provoke exactly the textbook responses of the "I hate Jeremy Clarkson" brigade. Job done then!

Was listening to that wet rag leader of Unison on the radio earlier and had to laugh at her running crying to their lawyers! Would have been so much more effective to just publicly call him a silly attention seeking boy but no - off she ran to tell tales! Laughable!

dancingmustard · 01/12/2011 19:57

You're misjudging public sector workers.

Some of them actually have a sense of humour.

Is Jezza guilty of publicsectorism now :)

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 01/12/2011 20:02

Heh, I am half way down page 1 of this thread, eating breakfast, listening to the radio, when what comes on as a lead news piece?! Jez's little appearance on The One Show!! I'm in NZ. Grin

Well done, Jez - you've gone global!! Even more people to be mortally offended.

I'm a liberal, leftie Guardian reader and I snort like a drain at Jeremy. Do I get some sort of special dispensation?

Love it. Somethings never change. Nice to know all is well in my beloved UK. Christmas lights up on Oxford Street, nights drawing in, Jeremy winding people up, people - en mass - frothing and clutching at pearls. Grin

ElderberrySyrup · 01/12/2011 20:06

This the first time for ages I've laughed at Clarkson.

NICEyNice · 01/12/2011 20:08

SlinkingOutsideInSocks, sadly you are just one of the 49.6% of guardian readers who think it was funny (current poll update). You are not special.

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 01/12/2011 20:12

Damn.

Besom · 01/12/2011 20:12

Clarkson is a bumptious numpty of a man. I find him really boring. So boring in fact that I don't count sheep to cure my insonmia, I think about JC .

Who cares what he thinks? Unison's reaction to this seems ott and I am one of the people he would have shot.

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2011 20:13

I really don't think he was going to shoot anyone though. Confused

Besom · 01/12/2011 20:16

He would have shot -as in by the firing squad.

Deadsouls · 01/12/2011 21:02

I really don't like the man, he says really stupid things and actually just don't find him funny. He's got a pathetic 'boy's own' school boy humour, that for some reason, my husband and step-dad both find funny. Saying that though, he obviously didn't mean literally what he said people, jeez, talk about out-of-proportion reaction. Yes, stupid, yes bad taste, idiotic, but that is what the man is. A total plank....people do know that

Deadsouls · 01/12/2011 21:05

It's the veritable media storm in a teacup, and then everyone jumps on the bandwagon, and before you know it you've got 5000 complaints to the BBC...mostly from people who didn't watch the show, just heard about it second hand in the news, on the radio, internet etc...it reminds me of the Jonathon Ross/Russell Brand/Manuel affair a few years ago. Completely out of proportion reaction, wish people would get a grip, just ignore him, maybe he'll disappear

Mumcentreplus · 01/12/2011 21:19

can't stand the arse...

Thingumy · 01/12/2011 21:21

Clarkson is a cunt.

frumpet · 01/12/2011 21:59

I am a nurse , i wasnt striking yesterday because my union hasnt balloted us yet and even if they do im not , but i just burst out laughing when i heard what he had said and would have even if i had been on strike . I do find him funny , although i spend alot of time laughing at as oppose to with him Smile

samstown · 01/12/2011 22:27

The Mumsnet paradox - going on and on about how disgusting it is that racism is so rife at the moment, whilst simultaneously holding Jeremy Clarkson up as the king of 'wind up' humour Hmm

dancingmustard · 01/12/2011 22:56

We should have a poll to see how many members think he's funny even if they think he's a bit of an arse.

It looks like an even split at the minute.

That means he's gained more credence from his usual fan base ensuring his newest venture is sold out :)

Job done.

NorkyPies · 01/12/2011 23:03

Don't waste time discussing the attention-seeking arsehole. There, I've done.

donnie · 01/12/2011 23:09

it is a massive overreaction IMO. That said, Jeremy Clarkson is, of course, a prize twat and a right fucking minger to boot. I mean, I wouldn't....would you?

Avantia · 02/12/2011 07:20

It would actually make quite interesting viewing - BBC filming a documentary on state of NHS , health worker conditions with JC helping out on a ward - he would say it how it is and not mince his words and may give all concerned - unions , workers , Government ,public a reality check.

Xenia · 02/12/2011 07:44

I hope we are not so PC these days that we take umbrage and indeed go to lawyers for this sort of off the cuff comment. Livingstone was I think prosecuted in not too different circumstances and I think people should instead grow a skin and get some therapy or even a sense of humour.

Whatmeworry · 02/12/2011 07:46

Given this was done as much to generate publicity for his goodies close tonXmas I think a nice large fine would be a win win

Mrsrobertduvall · 02/12/2011 07:48

It is being discussed on the BBC1 news this morning with a pompous arse calling for JC to be virtually hung, drawn and quartered.
I don't like the man, find his "lads" humour not to my taste, but find all the pc crap being spouted unbelievable.
The unions are making themselves look ridiculous.
