AIBU to think he is a prize prat I don't care if he is trying to be funny and shocking he is just another reason why I never have and never will vote Tory.

Now Orm jumps on the career contrarian bandwagon.

Have you an Xmas DVD out too?

kirrinIsland has posted exactly what happened yesterday evening on the One Show. Did anyone else see him on the the show?

HugosGoatee · 01/12/2011 13:05

Let's play bingo on this thread:

10 points for typing 'bandwagon'
10 for 'humourless'
20 for 'PC brigade'
20 for 'professionally offended'
30 for 'hardworking private sector workers'
30 for 'gilt-edged pensions'
50 for 'Clarkson for PM'

Go!

NICEyNice · 01/12/2011 13:09

Haha.

I got a straight 50 and probably score a few more discretionary points! Can anyone else beat me. :)

Woohooo!

And we can all vote on how OUTRAGED we are on the Guardian's website:
www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/poll/2011/dec/01/jeremy-clarkson-apology-bbc

Incidentally, its pretty even with 47% to the humour votes and 52% to the outraged.

Capricorn76 · 01/12/2011 13:12

I have to congratulate him though on managing to convince so many people that he's a 'lad' 'one of us', fighting for the silent majority, fighting against the evil PC people, health and safety and cyclist Nazi's, he's practically a working class boy made good. He's smart he's managed to get many ordinary folk to identify with him. It's like when Cameron tried to make out he was Middle Class and many people fell for it.

HugosGoatee · 01/12/2011 13:15

I can't tick either. I accept it was a joke so probably no need for an apology (I'm glad of any damage to his reputation) but I ain't ticking the 'it was funny banter' box - not funny IMO to make jokes about such a serious issue.

Grin
NICEyNice · 01/12/2011 13:17

Hugo you're humourless.

Happy? Wink

ExquisiteChristmasCake · 01/12/2011 13:18

Kerstina, you would allow a tv personality to change your voting choice? How odd.

Fishandjam · 01/12/2011 13:20

Let's face it, we all know JC is a prize dickhead and that he was always going to make some stupidly OTT comment about the strikers. Yawn. But his comments about railway suicides are in a different league entirely, and far more offensive. (My grandmother killed herself by lying down in front of a train - the post-mortem reports, which I found in my mum's house, make for almost unbearable reading. Not funny at all.) It is those comments for which he should apologise.

Funny though, that he's slagging off public sector workers while being paid his fat BBC fee at the taxpayers' expense!

NinkyNonker · 01/12/2011 13:21

I got there first LeQ, but I'll let you on the team if you promise not to play nice.

OhdearNigel · 01/12/2011 13:21

Huh. Clarkson should be shot, more like

HugosGoatee · 01/12/2011 13:22

Ooh I got some more from the frothing Guardian reader comments Smile

20 points for 'national treasure'
20 for 'health and safety Nazi'
20 for 'thought police'

NICEyNice · 01/12/2011 13:23

Except he's not fishandjam... he's slagging off balance at the BBC. If you care to read the thread and not the edited highlights everywhere.

BTW guess when Jeremy's last appearance on the One Show was? 10th December last year... hmmm....

NICEyNice · 01/12/2011 13:28

Hugo you are setting a challenge here.

JC is a national treasure who should be PM. The humourless, professionally offended PC brigade are jumping on yet another bandwagon. The health and safety Nazi's won't be happy until we all cease to think for ourselves and the thought police have become a reality. JC is just saying what all hardworking private sector workers are thinking - that public sector workers have gilt-edged pensions they could never have.

Do I win? What's the jackpot prize apart from looking like a prize tosser?

NICE Grin

HugosGoatee · 01/12/2011 13:36

(I especially like the addition of 'just saying what everyone else is thinking')

HugosGoatee · 01/12/2011 13:37

Ed's on in 5 mins, folks who're interested.

malinois · 01/12/2011 13:39

I think Clarkson might regret this one. Making threats to shoot people, even in jest., is a sure-fire way to have the police revoke your shotgun certificate or firearms certificate (Clarkson has both I believe)

jandymaccomesback · 01/12/2011 13:41

Surely no-one actually takes him seriously (except my 16 year old son who has AS).

NICEyNice · 01/12/2011 13:44

Seriously though, the headlines could have said "Even Jeremy Clarkson supports the strikers against his evil chum Dave". Potentially great PR

But instead everyone chooses to pick up the stereotype of him being "Tory Scum" and use the rent a cliche lines and are talking about taking legal action. Bad PR.

Go figure...

what is shit and shite is that instead of keeping the focus on the eurozone crisis, the nov30 strike and the fact that we're looking global meltdown in the face we're thinking about nob clarkson who makes a living out of pissing people off. who. gives. a. fuck.

keep your eyes on the ball people.

TartyMcFarty · 01/12/2011 13:47

Don't know if it's already been said, but Matt Baker's lack of professionalism and skill was glaring: grinning and nodding like a silly schoolkid looking up to the class clown.
