AIBU to think he is a prize prat I don't care if he is trying to be funny and shocking he is just another reason why I never have and never will vote Tory.

And again on this thread:-

The best thing about JC is that he annoys the sort of people that I don't like so long may he broadcast.

Pixel · 02/12/2011 18:55

I've had two family members brutally murdered. I'm still capable of realising that JC doesn't literally want to see people shot. Everyone's acting like he's some kind of cold-blooded killer!

giveitago · 02/12/2011 19:11

Pixel -I agree completely but these days the union is so f'ing offended on behalf of whoever (lol) it wants to take him to court.

Jesus - is this where we're at now. Can I take that union to court because their strike has put my job, and hence my lifestyle at risk? FFS - everyone should get a f'ing grip. This is some bloke on some tv programme.

Xenia · 03/12/2011 08:04

It's now clear he was quoted out of context perhaps for the BBC's and his own purposes. This first part was that he was very pleased about the strike. They just chose to report the second.

Also the BBC cleared the wording in advance. The plot has thickened quite a bit.

Animation · 03/12/2011 08:19

"This first part was that he was very pleased about the strike"

Yes - good point.

That was the crucial part - that he actually supported the strike!!!

The rest was just irony talk - whether people found that funny or not.

Xenia · 03/12/2011 08:27

Many on the left do not seem to have a sense of humour. Anyway they served their purpose and JC and the BBC got the publicity they were after.

Animation · 03/12/2011 08:42

Oh, and a definition here of irony -

"the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning."

kerstina · 03/12/2011 09:27

I only started this thread as I was surprised there was not one already. Typical that some of you are trying to make out people on the left have no sense of humour . When JC made a comment about a one eyed scottish idiot running the country I could not resist a giggle but saying strikers should be shot is JUST NOT FUNNY. He has said sorry so should be end of story . Lets move on please.

For all those who are excusing him because he said in the first part of the interview he was very pleased about the strike...he continued on that to say "because the roads were empty"

He can then stick his pleasure about the strike right up his arse.

Animation · 03/12/2011 09:48

Hey I'm not defending the man - maybe he had it coming - getting too big for his boots and all!!

Have to look at this stuff in context and there were some mixed messages.

I'm a public sector worker btw - and neither left nor right.

crazycrackernanna · 03/12/2011 09:54

I'll accept that you're "not right"...'tis good enough! Xmas Wink

The man's a twat...you're right there.
Hope he stays in China.....if they'll have him

Animation · 03/12/2011 10:06
Xmas Confused

Erm... think I need to check in with my union rep before I comment any further.Xmas Grin

crazycrackernanna · 03/12/2011 10:08

This is the longest thread in this section. It worked, didn't it? :-)

fabsi · 05/12/2011 10:14

celebs like clarkson are getting paid an awful lot of money, for doing things like driving fast cars around for a living and moaning about petty shite in a newspaper. This caught my attention because not only do i live with someone who suffers from serious depression but i had a friend commit suicide when i was a child. He is frankly, right out of his field here. uneducated and joke or no joke, incredibly insensitive. He should be using his fame and fortune in a positive nature, like many other celebs do, or keeping his sick opinions to himself. it's one things spouting your crap in a newspaper, where you have a choice if you want to read it, but totally irresponsible saying it on a family show. I just hope, really hope, that none of his family are ever that mentally tortured they see no other way out.

fabsi · 05/12/2011 10:22

i'm talking about the railway "gag" btw. And if he wants to joke about shooting or any other kind of jokey punishment , then he should choose the right time and place. Jonathan Ross got sacked for less. Oh and, he may be just some bloke on some tv show, but WE pay him. Rant over Smile

CarefullyAirbrushedPotato · 05/12/2011 10:36

I think a million quid a year for his crappy 'jokes' is far from good value.
clarkson is knob. end.
