AIBU to think he is a prize prat I don't care if he is trying to be funny and shocking he is just another reason why I never have and never will vote Tory.

OP posts:
squeakytoy · 01/12/2011 10:12

I think he is great. I much prefer someone who doesnt carefully pick their words to appear politically correct. He makes me laugh. :)

SinicalSal · 01/12/2011 10:22

He carefully picks his words to appear in the papers.

Just as contrived as the most PC 'drone' but motivated by pure self interest.

Ticklemonster2 · 01/12/2011 10:26

I only have one word for him, TWAT.

FreudianSlipper · 01/12/2011 10:27

clarkson is such an attention seeking twat

change the record jeremy it got boring a long long time ago

CogitoErgoSometimes · 01/12/2011 10:27

YABU... What would you expect a man that famously described the BMW Z3 as a 'Nazi hairdryer' to day? If they'd wanted a warm and fuzzy PC response they should have asked the Archbishop of Canterbury.

TheRhubarb · 01/12/2011 10:28

He is a clever man who is promoting his book for Christmas. It pays to be attention-seeking and you lot are certainly giving him plenty of that!

Clever man.

girliefriend · 01/12/2011 10:29

YANBU hate him. Angry

kirrinIsland · 01/12/2011 10:29

Did any of the people who complained actually watch the show? Yes he said the strikers should be shot - but what did he say before that? He was in favour of the strike (albeit for his own reasons) and then he joked that as this was the BBC we must have balance - and then he said they should be shot - he was providing the 'balance' i.e. the opposing opinion, as a joke. Not an especially funny one, I grant you, but he clearly wasn't expressing his actual opinion.

I am generally a fan, but I agree he was pretty awful on The One Show - looked like he wasn't sure what he was doing there...

SarahBumBarer · 01/12/2011 10:30

"People like you" yes Ninky people who have energy to waste in getting annoyed at him rather than just ignoring him. People who feed the troll.

lottiegb · 01/12/2011 10:30

If you pay any attention to what Jeremy, or any other gobby slebs, have to say, you have only yourself to blame.

rycooler · 01/12/2011 10:32

It's not about self interest at all - he says what he thinks and the press pick up on some of it ( the stuff they know will sell papers ) the press use him if anything - not that he gives a toss, he has millions of fans.

SinicalSal · 01/12/2011 10:38

Of course it is Ry, he has a book out every Christmas, he's just advertising it

mrsjay · 01/12/2011 10:39

TBH im not sure why nobody has shot JC yetGrin . and yes rhubarb he has a book out , it was the same with hugh fernley thingy who said it was ok to eat puppies the week before his book came out Wink

TheRhubarb · 01/12/2011 10:41

You mean he was joking about the puppies? Shock

mrsjay · 01/12/2011 10:42

Im wondering what the preferred gravy is for puppies ??

NICEyNice · 01/12/2011 10:43

Self important, ignorant arse

Ermmm... isn't that exactly the point of JC?

That and to wind everyone up who has their knickers on too tight? Hello to everyone complaining! You all just fell for it. AGAIN.

And frankly, The One Show itself offends me. Its Blue Peter for grown ups with terrible tabloid reporting which loves to create a whole bunch of moral panics in the style of the Daily Fail Lite. Why can't more people complain about that god awful show rather than JC.

SinicalSal · 01/12/2011 10:44

Bisto, if I may guess at Hugh F-w's preferences

rycooler · 01/12/2011 10:44

I'd go with that SS if he only said controversial things 2 weeks before Christmas - but he doesn't, he's pretty consistent throughout the year.

SinicalSal · 01/12/2011 10:45

He's playing the long game Ry - I never said he wasn't clever

wannaBe · 01/12/2011 10:47

I think it's funny that people actually get offended by it.

The reporting on the news this morning was so serious - as if he'd genuinely meant what he said.

I think the term "professionally offended" applies particularly to the types of people who get offended at people like him who are quite clearly on the wind-up.

Some people need to get out more.

TheRhubarb · 01/12/2011 10:48

mrsjay, it would be made from the pups own juices and organs, thickened with tomatoes perhaps and mixed with caramelised onions. Actually it does all sound rather nice ....

WidowWadman · 01/12/2011 10:49

Can't stand Clarkson, but broadly agree with what Ben Goldacre said

"Complaining about Clarkson expressing an offensive view is like complaining that the wheels just fell off your clown taxi"

kipperandtiger · 01/12/2011 10:56

Jeremy Clarkson habitually says outrageous things, usually with a somewhat tongue in cheek facial expression. I'm told he has a new DVD out to promote, so some press time is valuable for his sales. I wouldn't take what he says seriously but it is a pity he did not support the other view. What was a bit worrying on a radio phone in this morning was that some older listeners of a certain age and social class actually seemed to endorse rather more literally what he was saying - "they have a job, they shouldn't be going on strike at all" (as they rattle off to their 5 digit price cars and fully paid off large houses that few could afford in this decade). The same listeners who would say "appalling" if many of their public sector workers had to migrate because the job and pensions could not pay enough for them to live on, and they ended up having either poorly qualified teachers and radiographers, or transport and airport workers who couldn't speak English because they are the only ones who will work in this country..... Saying "if you don't like it you can leave" actually just illustrated their ignorance about the situation. Especially since many already have!

JuliaScurr · 01/12/2011 11:03

Dear Jeremy - the (semi)human C word

rycooler · 01/12/2011 11:05

I support the teachers and PSW - I'm 100% behind their strike action - but I still love JC.
