Excluded from Husbands Family Celebration Trip to New York

So, DH just came in and told me that he is to go off to New York with his family for a week celebrating Mothers 60s BDay. It appears to be an exclusive event and neither my daughter or myself (15months now - 19month at the time) are not invited.

Do you think I'm being unreasonable to be a bit miffed? Obviously there is a hint of jealousy in mixed in to things - but more that anything I'm feeling pretty hurt.

Am I being unreasonable or should I just suck it up?

Well I had to go out.. just so I could enjoy walking through the entire length of Tesco car park, in the rain, raising one eyebrow or tutting at people who cant park, cant wheel a trolley, abandon trolleys all over the show, and of course monitor the P & C spaces as I walk by, to check each vehicle was fully fitted with a child seat Grin.... sadly nothing to report today though.. other than the nice smile I got off the man who was busily loading his child into the car, while his empty trolley rolled into the path of an oncoming one and he looked stricken between dropping the child to grab the trolley, or leaving the trolley... me being nice, I grabbed the trolley for him, as my good deed for the day..

Anyway, enough of my mundane afternoon, has OP or OPs alter ego husband/wife come back again yet, or are we expecting the MIL to also stumble upon this thread too, then we can have a full round up of sides! Grin Dare I go into the kitchen to cook dinner, or will I miss the next chapter...

Yeah, what MrsTittlemouse said.

Also, to check the calendar is clear. It's not unusual for me to have a gig ticket months in advance, if DH suddenly revealed he was abandoning me with the kids for that week, I'd be forced to shred his passport very disappointed.

squeakytoy · 14/11/2011 17:18

There is also room for the OPs SIL. or is it sister now.. (this is getting a tad confusing), to put in her story about how her BIL, or is it SIL? is getting all huffy about a trip .... the possibilities are endless really....

How about from the point of view of the toddler? Surely the outrage at being told New York is not for them must be bubbling under and ready to burst forth in a froth of injustice?

Can't do it without being offensive. There is a story there based on both posters and sex changes though...

Unfair to original poster in the extreme though. Already been trolled and derailed once.

Squeaky, you don't have to choose between dinner &'the thread. I've blundered round in dark garage to get extra long extension lead & now have phone propped up in recipe-book stand so that I can multi-task, tho admittedly the phone screen now smells more than a little of garlic butter.

DH: My parents are paying me to go to New York for four days
ME: Do I have to come?
DH: No.
ME: Thank God for that.

However, if I had been a DIL for 17 years and they were having a 'family' celebration without me I would be fucked right off.

Eggrules · 14/11/2011 19:22

'MiL Thread' someone is very bored
Hmm

pictish · 14/11/2011 19:27

Yes indeed.

Good trolling though, to be fair. I was convinced.

Jacksmania · 14/11/2011 19:53

:o

pranma · 14/11/2011 21:28

It seems a bit odd to me to exclude a dw and dc from this sort of event...and even odder for your dh to agree to it.

pranma · 14/11/2011 21:29

Oh gosh I posted after first page...when will I ever learn not to do that?

Isla77 · 14/11/2011 22:08

I would be livid if I was not invited. OK, maybe not an option to go because of your toddler but an invite would be nice. Also, if DH's sister's boyfriend has not been invited it looks as if M-in-L is being very exclusive. Quite frankly if my husband decided to go knowing I was not invited I would be furious and tell him to let his Mum know that he would only come if I was invited too. She sounds very controlling. What a horrid, selfish woman. YANBU!!

She isnt the only one who sounds controlling there Isla... the irony of your post is great. Grin

jasper · 14/11/2011 22:21

hilarious thread.
but seriously, I don't know how anyone could stand being married to someone who objected to them going on holiday without them .

"you're married to ME - I'M YOUR FAMILY NOW . WE COME AS A UNIT"

shudder. Don't get it at all

maybenow · 14/11/2011 22:24

am totally confused now Confused.... not sure if either or both of the posts are real, story is pretty different - either the FIL is going or not going, it's either four days or a week..

katkitya · 14/11/2011 22:26

have I just wasted ten minutes of Apprentice time reading this?? Sad

EttiKetti · 14/11/2011 22:28

I went abroad to celebrate my mums 60th. She paid for me and DD1, but DH stayed home with toddler DD2. Wasn't an issue for any of us tbh.
