Excluded from Husbands Family Celebration Trip to New York

So, DH just came in and told me that he is to go off to New York with his family for a week celebrating Mothers 60s BDay. It appears to be an exclusive event and neither my daughter or myself (15months now - 19month at the time) are not invited.

Do you think I'm being unreasonable to be a bit miffed? Obviously there is a hint of jealousy in mixed in to things - but more that anything I'm feeling pretty hurt.

Am I being unreasonable or should I just suck it up?

OP posts:

Curiouser and curiouser....

Right. Bathroom.

Hmm
JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 14/11/2011 15:37

Meh. I don't care if either the OP or big are trolling.

I like this thread Grin

LordAlconleighsEntrenchingTool · 14/11/2011 15:40

Idon't care either.

I claim the moral high ground because I am right

This is AWESOME. One (or two) people have much too much time on their hands.

LordAlconleighsEntrenchingTool · 14/11/2011 15:49

What a shame these two have never heard of face-to-face conversations and dialogue, and therefore test out their moral hypotheses on the internet with a bunch of harridans mumsnetters.

BluddyMoFo I don't, and yet I am still here Blush

fedupofnamechanging · 14/11/2011 15:58

If this is true, then it isn't a straightforward case of OP pretending to be a woman and getting a different response when it is revealed that they are a man. It's a case of OP leaving out a shitload of pertinent information, which then alters the opinions of those who posted on this thread. If it is real, that is.

Who on earth is big and why is he/she picking on me - this this trolling normal on mumsnet or is it a case of mistaken identity?!

OP - if anyone ever asks you "Can you pinpoint the exact moment where it all started to go wrong" then the quoted post above is your answer. Glad to have helped!

A mother going alone with dds for four days is entirely different, just as it would be if it were father and sons.....or viceversa if other parent was deceased.

dreamingbohemian · 14/11/2011 16:12

Can this thread get any weirder?

ColdSancerre · 14/11/2011 16:18

"Can this thread get any weirder?"

I could pretend to be the MIL if you like?

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 14/11/2011 16:19

Whether the OP is a man, woman, or hermaphrodite from the planet Zarg...

If one of you signed up for going to NY for a week without consulting their partner, then they're in the wrong. HTH.

LordAlconleighsEntrenchingTool · 14/11/2011 16:19

WHY is a mother going with dds for 4 days any different to a man going away with his sister and both parents for the same amount of time?

How on earth does that make it any different?

PosiesOfPoinsettia · 14/11/2011 16:20

FWIW. My position hasn't changed either!!

LordAlconleighsEntrenchingTool · 14/11/2011 16:22

But why would the man, woman or Zargian hermaphrodite have to 'clear' it with their partner in the first place?

If this siutation happened to me it would go something like this

DP - when it's my mum's birthday next year, she wants to pay for me, dad and sister to have a shindig in New York
Me - you lucky bastard - what a lovely idea

NOT

DP - please can I go to new York with mum
Me - no you selfish sonofabitch, your place is HERE with ME and our CHILDREN as we tae precedence now

dreamingbohemian · 14/11/2011 16:22

Go for it Sancerre Grin

You're right, it can always get weirder!

MrsTittleMouse · 14/11/2011 16:35

My position is the same too - the person going should ask nicely and make sure that the spouse at home gets some down time too. Although in this case it looks as though the NY trip is fair compensation for the OP having his time away already.

Lord - in our case it's more like:

DP1 - I've had a fantastic offer to go to NY with my DM, would it be alright for you to look after DD for a week so that I can go please?
DP2 - Yes, you jammy thing that sounds fantastic, but I'd need help on X day so that I can

squeakytoy · 14/11/2011 16:48

I go out for the afternoon and I miss all the drama Grin

Poor foolish squeaky - will she never learn?

Oh - by the way Sharrie - Asda were all out of Wasabi Peas so I got you a six pack of fruitshoots, ditto of monster munch, 2 litres of no added sugar cherryade with extra pink colouring and a pack of skittles. Will that be ok?
