To believe I shouldn't be accosted about where I leave my shopping trolley?

Has just returned from the hell hole that is Tesco. I parked in Parent & Baby as I am a parent, with a baby (20 mo) and am due another in 2 weeks. In this particular Tesco, the P&B spaces are no where near the entry door but are near the shelter, so you can get out and walk under the shelter to the door, retrieve a trolley and go shopping. However on your way out, you can use the exit door right next to the P&B parking, so you don't have to wheel a heavy trolley the 2 mile stretch across the car park. However, you have to put the trolley back near the front door, as there is no trolley park within 50 yards of the P&B section. Not happy leaving my son strapped in the car alone, nor loving the idea of lugging him on my hip in the pouring rain, I pushed my trolley (once emptied) near to the exit door, under the shelter as the woman next to me had parked and was getting out, and I figured she could retrieve it as the seat was dry etc.

Some absolute knob head walked past with his trolley in his fucking cheese cloth suit and said;

"Oh just going to LEAVE it there are you?".

I was half in the car, and I said,

"Excuse me?"

Him: "You. Leaving that there."

Me: "It is not my fault that Tesco do not provide a trolley park near enough the parenting spaces so I don't have to leave my baby in the car alone while I dance across the car park".

Him: "You have legs, you CAN walk, don't just leave it there".

Me: "It isn't upside down in the sea, is it? I don't see it has anything to do with you, if it offends you so much, get a job here and see if they'll let you collect the trollies".

Got in my car and drove off doing the wanker gesture as I went past him.

I'd like to add, he was parked 2 spaces over from me WITHOUT A CHILD. Which I know is not a legal right blah blah, but he had the bloody audacity to quiz me on supermarket etiquette. What a dick.

Don't tell me he was right, I may hang myself.

Sorry you were wearing SOCKS and CROCS?

In that case you are excused as you are clearly insane.

Otherwise dress appropriately and then you will be able to return the trolley to its proper place.

mumblecrumble · 12/11/2011 22:11

I loved pushing a trolley when pregnant... it was like a walking frame near the end...

naturalbaby · 12/11/2011 22:22

i've abandoned my trolleyloads of times rather than trek across a car park and leave my kids in the car, and considered it a favour for the next mum who might need a trolley with a toddler/baby seat.

i have seen 2 cars catch fire for no reason (mechanical fault, was on watchdog and everything) so am one of those mothers who will drag 3 under 3's across a petrol forecourt effing and blinding about a lack of pay at pump rather than leaving them all in the car (or get dh to fill up over the weekend).

ledkr · 12/11/2011 22:25

As usual lots of pointless remarks about this topic.

Yes she should use the designated spaces as that is what they are for.

Yes its ok to leave atrolley safely parked somewhere (the baby ones have a brake)

No you shouldnt leave your child in the car alone.

No some knobber shouldnt have remarked on it and he certainly shouldnt have been wearing a cheesecloth suit.

He shouldnt have been parked in p and c even in cheesecloth.

Prenant women sure can push a shopping trolley.

HTH

mumblecrumble · 12/11/2011 22:28

Sorry kedkr - are you on question time or PMQT???? Cos i;m just ahging around chatting on a forum......

Why are you reading remarks you feel are so pointless? This is page 5.....

RosemaryandThyme · 12/11/2011 22:32

I'm not saying pregnant ladies can't push a trolly - just that it's nice not to have to do it if you don't feel like it, and its kind to let others do things for you, it gives them a lift to feel they've done something nice for a struggling pregnant lady.

fit2drop · 12/11/2011 22:37

Thats not what you said at all Rosemary.

However your attempt to ammend has really just made my jaw drop even more.
pregnant ladies are not made of sugar

RosemaryandThyme · 12/11/2011 22:42

I don't think pregnant ladies should push trolly's.

I'm not saying pregnant ladies can't push trolly's - just that they shouldn't.

Physically a pregnant lady might be able too, might even want to from time to time.

But I still don't think they should.

ledkr · 12/11/2011 22:46

Oh sorry mumble is it in the rules that you can only join the discussion if you've been in it since the first page?

Pointless remarks aplenty as always is on supermarket/parking/trolleys threads.

Can i correct you and say that you are hanging about chatting on a forum and occasionally being unecessarily obnoxious to people.

KatieMiddIeton · 12/11/2011 22:46

What a strange opinion!

AyeBelieve · 12/11/2011 22:47

trolleys

ExquisiteCake · 12/11/2011 22:48

Well well. As nice as cotton wool feels around my feminine delicate skin I don't think I could pull it over the eyes of Tesco workers! In my defence I left the house wearing said Crocs and socks by accident and only bought a pair since being pregnant and they are the ones with a safe finish so socially more acceptable. Or do I tell myself. At least I wasn't in cheese cloth .

OP posts:
Sleepyspaniel · 12/11/2011 22:50

Ach honestly!

All child-carrying trollies have a BRAKE on them. This prevents them from rolling around with the child in it. Therefore that wipes out the "but the trolley will roll and smash into someone's car" argument. O-kay.com? Wink

The OP is pg with a 20mo. Tesco take A LOT of business from mothers/families/parents, so the least they can do is provide common-sense bays for trolleys near the P&C spaces.

Why are people so happy to turn on a pregnant woman with a 20mo in tow than the retail giant that is Tesco who could easily include a suitable small bay nearby to accommodate P&C trolleys?!

OP I would be annoyed too as approximately 99.9% of my disposable income disappears at Tesco, so the least they could do is make it easier for us struggling parents with only one pair of hands.

On a seperate note, socks and crocs are a gross crime against decency let alone fashion and you really should have a serious word with yourself regarding your footwear...

MrsTwinks · 12/11/2011 22:50

YANBU. For one if everyone returned their trolleys thing of all the unemplyed trolley boys :)

ExquisiteCake · 12/11/2011 22:50

Oooooo Ledkr is making my dull thread interesting ! Feel free to use the wanker gesture. I encourage it here.

OP posts:
mumblecrumble · 12/11/2011 22:50

No, ledkr, I was riled at you "as useual pointless remarks" etc...

I wasn;t being obnoxious. Just didnlt understand why you felt a need to suggest the remarks people here are making are pointless.

This is my first trolley thread so I read with interest all the way through. i just didn;t understand why you read till page five if you were so bored of trolley threads and found the remarks boring.

No not obnixous, just didnlt really udnerstand.

WhoseGotMyEyebrows · 12/11/2011 22:51

RosemaryandThyme I'm not saying pregnant ladies can't push trolly's - just that they shouldn't.

Why? Does that also mean they shouldn't lift shopping bags? Who unloads their shopping when they get home? What about buggies? Should they not push those either?

mumblecrumble · 12/11/2011 22:52

OP. Are you suggesting I am a wanker? Cos, really I was doing the wanker sign with you at cheeseclothe man.

perhaps he was wanted to strike up a conversation with you?

ExquisiteCake · 12/11/2011 22:52

By safe finish I meant suede ficking iPhone. Oh and my local Tesco employs adults with SN to collect the trollies and I support this notion so am technically helping.

OP posts:
mumblecrumble · 12/11/2011 22:53

Also rosemary. After a C Section you should'nt pick up anything heavier than a kettle.... i found this post op advice just as amusing.

[this also is not me being obnoxious]

ExquisiteCake · 12/11/2011 22:54

No mumble! I meant just MNetters in general. Might ask for the wanker smiley once the crass Christmas hat emoticons have come and gone!

OP posts:
mumblecrumble · 12/11/2011 22:55

Oh phew! i thought this was going to be yet another thread that io start tp enjoy that gets nasty.

Hee hee.... what does a wanker smiley look like? [also, this is interesting as I have been critisied for not wanting to leave my kid alone in car for few seconds so wondered what others thought]

ExquisiteCake · 12/11/2011 22:57

Hmmm a little yellow head with a hand up by his face moving back and forth whenever you put the cursor over it!!

OP posts:
RosemaryandThyme · 12/11/2011 22:58

Yes definately no trolly pushing, even more so with a toddler in one of those up-right frount seats of a trolly - could so easily kick you in the tummy - trolly wheels are notouriously wonking - so very easy to pull your pelvis out of sync - then theres the lifting the bags into the car (that's your back pu-out) and those blooming awful helpful checkout folk who over-load the bags and get all huffy when you say no its OK I'll pack it myself and dear god please can I have some more bags - the whole experiance is horrific when your pregnant.

MorelliOrRanger · 12/11/2011 23:00

I think after the words

'are you going to leave it there'

I would have said yes and got in my car and left.

That is the thing that annoys me about Tesco's as well - they have no bays near the P&C spaces. Why is that?
