Nasty voice, whiny, weak and high pitched.

mediocre pop shite at best.

and just whiny and bizarre when he decided he was he messiah.

Bollocks and crap.

MJ not really my cup of tea. Ok for dancing to I guess but not my thing.

I can see the dancing was good but I'm not really into all that technical brilliance with a sparkly glove.

Agree 100% with the earlier post saying Paul McCartney trades on past glories. I just do not get the reverence he attracts Hmm

YABVVVFU

I felt a bit unwell after reading your thread title and post. Thought 'how very dare you?!

'Don't stop til you get enough' is aural cocaine.

NormanTebbit · 05/11/2011 17:07

Billie jean is proper R n'B - it is awesome

Wanna Be Starting Something is brilliant as is Beat It

But yes a lot of it is pap

SarahStratton · 05/11/2011 17:13

Wasn't my eighties soundtrack either. Farking hate Michael Jackson.

AtYourCervix · 05/11/2011 17:20

even the early stuff is high pitched, whiney and weak.

and all the grunty aw and urg and penis grabbing, walking backswards and spinning on the spot bollocks isn't dancing it's just ludicrous jigging.

just don't think it is very good musically.

He was the best back in the day.

Red2011 · 05/11/2011 18:27

Not in the least unreasonable. I have always though his music was shit - for all the reasons you describe. Couple that with the videos with a grown man wearing trousers so short they show his socks, or with the same grown man grabbing his crotch like a toddler desperate for a week, or the same grown man pretending to be the messiah. What a load of utter wank!

Jemma1111 · 05/11/2011 18:37

YABU op

MJ was an outstanding performer and I bet those of you who say he was shite still probably enjoy dancing to his music!

perceptionreality · 05/11/2011 18:37

YABU - he was surely a musical genius. I don't know how it can be argued otherwise.

I think Prince is even more of a genius though.

I am deffo not a fan of MJ'S music, but ther is no denying, the man was a musical genius.

AtYourCervix · 05/11/2011 18:47

No. I'm not. I know I'm not.

Beethoven was a musical genius. Carlos Acosta is an outstanding dancer. Pavarotti was a good singer, Jimmi Hendrix could perform.

In comparison Jackson was weak and mediocre and whiny.

BeaOnSea · 05/11/2011 18:48

I wasn't a huge fan but saw him live in concert and he certainly was a great performer.

Now the Beatles.....they were shit.

Esta3GG · 05/11/2011 18:53

YANBU - he never floated my boat. Loved the Jackson Five though.

BalloonTwister · 05/11/2011 18:54

YANBU - MJ is Utter tripe. The Beatles were not shit, they were ahead of their time. They were mostly shit on their own though, except for John Lennon, who made a whole two awesome tracks post Beatles.

MrBloomsNursery · 05/11/2011 18:54

YABU. Beethoven didn't sing Hmm. Or dance.

AtYourCervix · 05/11/2011 18:55

nor could Jackson well.

OP posts:
rycooler · 05/11/2011 19:03

Op; you don't have to like MJ, it's not compulsory - maybe his music is just 'not your thing' - but he was brilliant he really was. I'm not a big fan of classical music ( most of it bores me ) but I accept Beethoven was a fantastic composer - even if he does nothing for me.

Panzee · 05/11/2011 19:06

I am not a fan but I appreciate that he could write a darn good pop song. And sing it quite well too...:o

gordyslovesheep · 05/11/2011 19:12

it went down hill ater Rockin Robin to be honest - hated him in the 80's - that feeling hasn't changed

bruffin · 05/11/2011 19:15

Don't understand threads like this, why do people get offended because other people have different tastesHmm

AtYourCervix - I'm totally with you. I am always bewildered and bemused by actual grown-ups going on about his 'musical genius'. I thought most people grew out of MJ when they were teenagers.

LadyBeagleEyes · 05/11/2011 19:19

I haven't seen anyone getting offended, everybody is just having their say on whether they like MJ or not.
As far as I've seen we're all agreeing to differ, no offence taken.

LynetteScavo · 05/11/2011 19:21

I used to think "You are not alone" was a complete load of pants.

Until I went to my DCs school Christmas concert. They turned all they lights of in the church, and each child waved a glow-stick in time to the music. A few children sang the verses as a solo, and the rest of the school joined in with the chorus.

I thought it was going to be shite partly because DS wasn't chosen to sing a solo part but it was beautiful, and incredibly moving.

I wasn't the only mum to blub.
