To not want to give this man his money back

I sold a buggy today, as seen h was happy with it and paid £200 which was cheap anyway. Twenty minutes later I got a text saying it doesn't fit through their front door and will I take it back.

I explained how to take the wheels off but no he is still saying it won't fit. I've already put the money in one of those pots you have to smash to get the money put of and feel a bit miffed I'm now going to have to smash it to take it out. But have I agreed reluctantly, I would be unreasonable not to take it back wouldn't I?! I still feel annoyed though

It's just a phil and teds, it's wide ish but fits through my door fine. I'm more annoyed about the pot tbh.

Offer to give him the money back minus the price of the pot. If you sold it to him cheap as you say, then perhaps the next customer will give you more than £200.

He should have checked, I have a very narrow hallway and so I measured up before buying mine. Why is it that people expect others to rectify their incompetence.

Obviously now you have agreed to take it back you have to.

You are being mean - I don't think most people would think they had to check the width of the door & you are hardly going to take the wheels off each time you go in & out of the house.

Caveat Emptor. It was his responsibility to ensure it fitted through his door. I wouldn't give him his money back.

How BIG is the buggy? I would give him his money back, as you've said it's such a bargain you won't have a problem selling it again.

The pot is one of these I've been saving wedding money in it. So will be annoyed to smash it and have nowhere safe to put the money.

I know I'm doing the right thing, I still feel a bit pissed off about it though.

It's not that big at all, fits through my standard front door with miles of room.

I think you should give him his money back.

I know other people who have made this mistake, and it's an expensive mistake to make. Phil & Teds are fairly wide, and you wouldn't want to take the wheels off it each time you used it would you?

I will give it back.

The buggy I use I actually frequently have to take the wheels off, it's very quick and easy.

He paid in notes, I'm hoping dp may be able to saw the pot open and re glue it maybe.

I wouldn't want to give the money back either.

It's not like it's a fault with the item or anything, although I would be upset if I bought a pushchair that wouldn't fit through the front door and there's no way I'd want to keep taking the wheels off.

I'd be wondering if it's just an excuse because they changed their minds.

you are very generous. Second-hand goods, in a private sale? No comeback unless the buyer has been conned.

I reckon it's really because his DP didn't like the colour/said he'd paid too much/has already got one/is cross with him about something.

I wouldn't have agreed to give it back tbh, like takethisone says, it's not faulty, it won't fit through their door. If they wanted refunds etc they should have bought from a shop rather than secondhand. Personally I think it's incredibly cheeky to even ask. Since you've agreed to you should, obviously, but I would have said no in the first place.

I'd just give him his money back, it sounds you can easily sell it again.
I'd be really pissed off if I bought something in good faith and it didn't fit in my front door.
I'd just give him the benefit of the doubt. Good Karma and all that.

You have a contract and you are not legally obliged to give the money back, the goods are not faulty and he hasn't been ripped of.

i thought doors where a standard fitting width - as to make doors a different width is very expensive?
