Why write your own materiel ,when you can just lift it straight from here?

Report
begonyabampot · 17/10/2011 19:44

it's still her own material even if she used some inspiration (as most comics and writers do) from here. And a lot different from some poster writing the odd funny line now and then.

Great and captured how I feel about much of Mumsnet and much of the ill informed, self pitying, anti children shite that is spouted on here.

usualsuspect; I could have written a much funnier routine that's for sure - but there's no way I could be a stand up comedian and do what she does ( I'm too good looking for stand up for one thing ) all she did was take MN's 'smug mummy' image and run with it - she hasn't lifted legit threads has she? - she made them up. With comedy you have to take the obvious and work with that, I'm sure there's some hilarious things being said on the camping threads but hardly anyone reads them so what's the point talking about them? AIBU is very popular and has mass appeal.

Its not the fact its taking the piss out of Mumsnet- I do that quite a lot but its just the fact I didn't find it funny!

usualsuspect · 17/10/2011 20:13

No the threads were not made up ..there were several rastamouse threads and I would hazard a guess she used the comments on them in her routine

WitchesBrewIsMyFriend · 17/10/2011 20:20

well I thought it was funny too.

rycooler · 17/10/2011 20:22

Yep, loads of RastaMouse threads - loads of nanny threads - loads of threads about organic food, she didn't make that up, what she did was exaggerate those themes - has there ever been a thread about a nanny building the extension? - no, she made it up.

oh well ,it still wasn't funny Grin

The thing is this; out of all of the forums I have ever been on, Mumsnet is by far the most self-deprecating. With a few exceptions, I think that we don't take ourselves all that seriously. Threads like the ones that this humour vacuum of a woman referenced always end up in the OP getting flamed so what she is actually doing is picking on people that aren't actually that well received here. That's why it isn't funny.

She needs to go away and try again. There is plenty of material on MN to develop a good routine from (BF v FF/SAHM v WOHM etc etc)

Plus, unless you are a MN regular, you wouldn't find her witterings about AIBU remotely funny. That's why I know that all of the hearty guffaws were canned.

So there.

What's wrong, Ariesgirl? Obviously not the thread to share, but have you another thread elsewhere about whatever it is?
