And it's ALWAYS old people or business men.

I want to scratch all their cars and kick their tyres!

I heard if you leave a baby in the car and park in the P&C spaces the OP parks on top of your car because it's just outrageous because you don't need the space if you aren't taking the baby in. Grin

WomansWeekly · 26/09/2011 21:14

but life is easier if you can park in those spaces.

absolutely, and even more so if you are childless and park in them :)

ShellyBoobs · 26/09/2011 21:14

yes they explode and get stolen and the handbreak stop working - obviously

What about the perverts? You forgot about the perverts who are waiting in the bushes!

twotesttickles · 26/09/2011 21:16

and doggers in the furthest reachers of the car park.

Plus pit bulls.

Aliens

and men who will wash your car for money Shock

gordyslovesheep · 26/09/2011 21:22

yes - sorry - it's a wonder my children have survived so far - I am so careless - I also for got eagles - they can swoop down on a soft top and make away with a small one

Andrewofgg · 26/09/2011 21:26

One car-park I occasionally use has a team of young women who wash cars - is that not a sign that The End Is Nigh? :(

Andrewofgg · 26/09/2011 21:26

Bugger, that was meant to be a smile!

Merlotmonster · 26/09/2011 21:44

yes.....Damn those 'old people'...how dare they park close to the shop! Hmm

TiggyD · 26/09/2011 21:51

Sports cars like Ferraris and Lambugginis tend to be quite wide so I think it's OK if people with those cars park in wide disabled bays because otherwise it would be like you were being racist to rich people.

40notTrendy · 26/09/2011 21:54

Has the OP come back yet or do you think she's scared off mn forever Grin?

TandB · 26/09/2011 21:54

Sooooo..serious question.

If someone parks too close to you and you can't open the door wide enough to insert the baby, could you conceivably reach in, wind the window down and insert baby through window?

I can't believe this never occurred to me when DS was tiny.

Now desperately looking forward to new baby in order to try this out! I shall smile smugly at all the wailing, teeth-gnashing mummies who can't get their dissolving babies out of the rain and into the car due to lack of p&t spaces.....

YouWinOrYouDie · 26/09/2011 21:58

PMSL at Doggers in the furthest reaches of the car-park.

mummy22gorgeousboys · 26/09/2011 22:07

WOW!

Never been on this AIBU forum before and just thought I would pop on something that irritates me.

I want to point out I have NEVER actually damaged anyone's car and never would, it just makes me cross because it is supplied to just make things a little easier for parents with little ones.

I am aware it is not a god given right, a legal right and I certainly don't think I am superior to any other customer. I obviously do park in non P&T bays when they P&T bays are full.

It has nothing to do with my driving and parking ability, nor anything to do with me not being able to walk across a car park with my children. I also shop online, do late night shopping and shop without the children when possible.

It's about common courtesy and manners.

I'm assuming those who have rubbished my opinion also refuse to give up your seat on the bus for pregnant ladies and the elderly, and you probably park in front of other peoples houses too.

The P&T bays are near the door so I don't have to walk across the busy car park with my little ones, it's safer for them. The bays are wider so that when the babies / children get in there is enough space on either side of he car to open the door wide enough to fasten the seatbelts of your LO's.

Ding Ding! Round 2!

I have taken a break from decorating to answer comments, certainly not scared of other MN's!

Well you assume wrong then don't you!! But carry on making generalised assumptions because people don't agree with you, doesnt do much to back up your arguments though!

breatheslowly · 26/09/2011 22:09

I want to tap on their windows, look horrified, point at the back seat and say "You've left your baby in the shop".

80sMum · 26/09/2011 22:10

YABVU.

Good grief! What's to compalin about?? Parents have never had it so good as they have it today!! There are loos in supermarkets, not to mention baby-changing areas, baby-feeding areas etc.
You would realise how lucky you are to have a (usually free) carpark right next to the supermarket if you'd ever had to park in pay-and-display multi-storey (with no such thing as P&T spaces!) at one end of the town, then manoeuvre a baby and a reluctant toddler (position toddler on a seat on top of a carrycot on wheels) down the carpark stairs (that smeel of wee) because the lift (that also always smelled of wee!) never works, then walk to the other end of the high street to the supermarket, park the pram outside the shop, decant baby into the trolley and hitch toddler onto reins, do your shopping (somehow), abandon your trolley and beg to use the staff facilities when said toddler needed a wee NOW, then lug the whole lot back to the carpark and attempt to settle toddler in car seat, get carrycot off its wheels with baby inside and ram it onto the back seat next to toddler seat, randomly scatter the shopping into the footwell of the front passenger seat, drive home with a by now screaming toddler and baby etc etc etc. Welcome to the 1980s!! You can see why I find it hard to sympathise with you throwing a fit just because you couldn't get an extra wide parking space right next to the shop!

TandB · 26/09/2011 22:10

This is why 60% of the population want to bring back the death penalty. For brutal murderers and stealer of p&c parking spaces. String them up!

twotesttickles · 26/09/2011 22:17

Oh. My. What is wrong with parking in front of other peoples houses ????

I do actually. Every weekday. Twice.

I do the school run by car.

(To be fair I do live 18 miles from the school, it's a bit of a hike for a four year old).

Perhaps I need a P&T space in the school car park?

twotesttickles · 26/09/2011 22:17

Because I'm worth it.

mummy22gorgeousboys · 26/09/2011 22:21

Absolutely not having a strop and certainly don't want sympathy for not being able to park near the door - it just irritates me.

frumpet · 26/09/2011 22:22

I couldnt give a toss who does and doesnt park in the spaces . The supermarket i use has a massive car park and about 10 p&c spaces ,sometimes i get lucky and sometimes i dont . I see elderly people who are not quite decrepit enough to get a disacbled badge , a bloke in a big van who is in a wheelchair and often cant get into the disabled spaces , a heavily pregnant women who was unwell and had to pull off the motorway , business men , people with children who are school age (secondary) . I see all these people and more and i can honestly say i really couldnt give a fuck .

CokeFan · 26/09/2011 22:31

Oooh. I saw someone park in the p+t bay next to me today (was returning to my car with shopping and small child). It was a youngish (maybe 20 something) blonde with mahoosive sunglasses. She was driving one of those huge black 4x4s with a personalised numberplate. She might have thought that I was going to say something because she stayed in her car while I loaded the shopping. Clearly she got bored though because she FLOUNCED past me and into the shop. I smirked mightily.

There were lots of other spaces - including whole blocks empty - less than 20ft away but she'd clearly picked her spot. Maybe she was a toddler and was looking for her parent?
