Am I?

My son has gone.

He usually sits on the other sofa with a Skype headset on, always there never moved for two years, now he has gone and I miss him so much.

I worry that he is sitting in his Uni room all alone without his laptop cos he left the charger here. Has he even eaten? What if he doesn't make friends, what if he is lonely.

I've no one in RL to talk to, I've no family.

Is my son going to be okay? Will I myself survive this cos it really hurts. It's just me and the dog, I'm even worried I'm neglecting the dog.

Lol, poor dog!

When my youngest went it was a bit of a culture shock. I got home from work and there were no dishes or clothes waiting to be washed. I ate beans on toast for tea just coz I could! I got into my jammies and relaxed, I even went to bed early!! But now, 2 weeks down the line I'm getting a bit bored of the freedom - will have to find something to fill my winter evenings. Local evening classes ... look out!!

I'm sure your lovely son will be just fine. He'll be socialising and enjoying himself with his new mates. I bet he's also raring to go with his studies. Sometimes freshers week is too long and too unstructured, they just want to get started and go to classes. Are you on facebook? I sometimes skype my son over fb, just to say hello and for a quick chat. He seems to quite like saying hello for a few mins each week.
