I am very very proud of myself, I've been working up to this for a while knowing once I managed the 48 hours I would not go back.

Here I am having done the 48 hours.

Custy - I have been chanting you 14 hours (etc) as an awesome non smoker mantra! Consider yourself an inspiration!

then for me it went by 3;s so 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months . i rarely think about it

an recently went on a night out and didn't miss it ...too much

adamschic · 18/09/2011 17:23

Big pat on the back, well done. 7.5 months since I quit.

Onemorning · 18/09/2011 17:23

Well done! I gave up about 7 years ago and I don't miss it. Bravo!

lynniep · 18/09/2011 17:25

WELL DONE! Its a very very difficult thing to achieve. the only thing that stopped me was finding out I was pg - I failed time and time again before that so go for it - you can do it!!

Pinot · 18/09/2011 17:26

LizaTarbucksAuntie · 18/09/2011 17:31

Good job! You have actually passed the nicotine withdrawal stage - by far the hardest part (apparently, I'm no expert, I have never smoked, but helped my mum quit)!

Keep it up, here are some tips I know helped my mum zenhabits.net/10-tips-for-quitting-smoking/ though it sounds like you're doing well :)

lechatnoir · 18/09/2011 17:33

Really really well done the hard part is over now so all you're got to do is just keep going!!!

It's been 3 years for me and the 2nd time I quit. The first I got to about 6 months, thought I'd cracked it & had 'just the one' and of course as any failed quitter will tell you it's never just the one and within a week I was back up to 20 a day. Don't be tempted by even just a puff - that 10/20/30minute craving is so not worth going back to square one and my god those first few days are hard aren't they??!

LizaTarbucksNonSmokingAuntie · 18/09/2011 17:38

Thanks - I knew if I could get through to this point I won't be going back, it's taken about 4 months to go from 'right I'm ready' to 'ok. this is the 48 hours I go for it in' Though to be fair I've been cutting down and down all that time and leaving it til later and later in the day before my first one...so actually have been giving up for a long time, just glad I've finally done it.

maras2 · 18/09/2011 18:45

Custy.Did you feel as if you wanted a ciggie after your car accident earlier ?

Mitmoo · 18/09/2011 18:46

Big pat on the pack from me. Well done.

BonAppetit · 18/09/2011 18:50

And a huge pat on the back from me. Promised my 13 yr old son I would stop - only smoked 1-2 a day. So very hard and occasionally I slip and sneak one on the patio. Keep it up.

NinkyNonker · 18/09/2011 18:51

Brill! You have done the worst of it now.

LizaTarbucksNonSmokingAuntie · 18/09/2011 18:51

Thank you - helping a good deal, although I'm through the 48 hours blah blah, still got 20 mins to littlemads bedtime which rather seems to be dragging. Will be over the worst by the morning huzzah!

ChippingIn · 18/09/2011 18:51

Big Fat Pat On The Back

Well done!! :)

I've never smoked, thank god, as I can't imagine the will power required to quit!
