I am very very proud of myself, I've been working up to this for a while knowing once I managed the 48 hours I would not go back.

Here I am having done the 48 hours.

Bonappetit - I'd had similar conversations with littlemad and it was when he told me that he 'was trying to give up whining but finding it hard...' that I realised what a bad example I was being... Hah! he can't whine any more...

Excellent - very well done!

You're a non-smoker and it feels really great to be free, doesn't it? I'd say that the 48-hour period, the first three months you're more conscious of smoking than at any other time but after that, you're home and dry.

Keep telling yourself you don't smoke and enjoy that feeling, it will help you through.

I finally kicked the habit nearly five years ago now and I only wanted to tell you this in case it helps you to go on: I stopped missing it almost immeadiately. It's like I went off smoking, so it won't always be an act of will power.

Well done.

Don't let that nicotine grind you down again OP. A big pat on the back from me too and keep it up. It may be hard for the first month or so and you may be quite ratty for a while, but tell all your family and friends so they understand why.

Don't forget to keep yourself busy because some of the addiction can also be down to hand-to-mouth habit, which can be hard to break and leave you irritated becuase your hands aren't doing what they would normally do in times of stress/boredom etc.

Go on girl, you can do it Grin Well Done.

You're all really helping at the moment and thankfully for once littlemad isn't being too bonkers which is a huge mercy tonight as I do beleive I'm slightly short on patience just at this exact moment!

Anyone...I'm now glad I did it just for the sake of that emoticon..I feel v v honoured :) :)

yeah well done. I have got down to 4 a day, 1 left today and starting the big -stop- tomorrow. Truth is I just can't afford it anymore.

I am looking at it as no of treats for DS and no of extra years of having with him.

Ironically I think the first 3 days well may kill me. Wink

Oh and don't forget your lungs will be having a bloody good clear out for a while, but don't worry about that. That will stop eventually.

youarekidding, I'll happily be around tomorrow for you if you need a quit buddy, dh knows I can't even discuss it with him (he quit a few years ago and knows you have to do it your way or not at all!), apart from giving him the odd countdown and each time i've told people in rl it's scuppered me, anyway, just shout if I can help...

Thanks liza No-one in RL (except my BestF) even knows I smoke so can't ask for support. Grin

I'll need you about 6.30am when the alarm goes off and I have to get up to just a coffee - and probably about 6 sugars. Grin

I'll do my best....I found the first one of the day pretty hard to give up, but honestly, without sounding too smug, if I can do it....

I found that setting an alarm for 5 minutes later was pretty helpful when I was working on losing the trigger cigs...I'd go, right I'll have that in a few minutes when the alarm goes of if you see what I mean, it might help, than you're 'putting it off for a few minutes' rather than not having it..do you see what I mean?

Spend the money you've saved on some fabulous perfume...people will be able to smell it on you now!

I stopped in February (and had some great support from mnetters). Best thing I ever did. You have every right to feel proud Smile
